pickledilly
This passage alludes to sonship/adoption at least 7 times (the number of perfection!). Promises made to God's children are numerous. 1) We receive the Spirit of God to confirm our adoption. 2) We are led by the Spirit. 3) We are fellow heirs of God with Christ. 4) At the revealing of the sons of God, our glory will also be revealed. 5) The glory of God's children will result in freedom for all creation. 6) Our hope in what God is doing is our salvation. 7) The Spirit intercedes for us in our weakness to endure the suffering we endure as we wait. 8) God is working everything together for good for His children. Our future is one of receiving all that Christ has inherited! It would seem almost blasphemous to write such words if I wasn't looking at it right there in God's Word. We are humbled in pairing that inheritance of glory with the fact that we will enter into it the same way Christ did - through the gate of suffering. But the sufferings of this temporal life on earth aren't even worth comparing to the future glory that God has for us! Even creation is longing for that day of revealing because it will also gain freedom from the consequences of man's sin. Our role as heirs of the glory of the children of God is the pivotal point for the release of creation itself from bondage into freedom! masika
Q1. In Romans 8:14-21, 28, how many times is the idea of being sons and daughters of God alluded to? What are the promises made to these sons and daughters? What do we learn about our future and our role in the future of all creation? Ther are eight times references made indirect towards us being sons and daughters of God, 1.Those who are guided by the Spirit of God. 2. We did not get the spirit of servants again to put you in fear, but the spirit of sons was given to you, by which we say, Abba, Father. 3.The Spirit is witness with our spirit that we are children of God. 4.We have a right to a part in the heritage. 5.No comparison between the pain of this present time and the glory which we will see in the future. 6.Strong desire of every living thing is waiting for the revelation for us. 7.All living things will be made free from the power of death and will have a part with the free. 8.All things are working together for good to those who have love for God, and have been marked out by his purpose. We learn that there is a time indeed a-coming, when all the sons of God, all his adopted children, shall be made manifest: The liberty which God's children are reserved for, and appointed to, is a glorious liberty; that is, a liberty which shall be attended with unspeakable glory: The creature shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. JustJeff
I believe that we are the sons and daughters of God by adoption and that ia alluded to 7x (?) in the referenced scriptures. The promises that we receive are equallity with Jesus, His inheritance and His glory, which are ours to share. We are freed from the corruption that is of this world and that expectation is in all of creation as they await our full redemption, the Holy Spirit being a harbinger of that which is to come. RickJW
Q1. In Romans 8:14-21, 28, how many times is the idea of being sons and daughters of God alluded to? What are the promises made to these sons and daughters? What do we learn about our future and our role in the future of all creation? 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. 20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, 21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. I count about 8 times that the idea of us being sons or daughters of God is alluded to. We are promised that we will be heirs in the kingdom of God, and co-heirs with Christ, we are promised eternal life with Christ and God, and we are promised that 'all things work together for good' in this life. We are promised not only suffering in this life, but glorification to come. Our future is to share in the glorification of Christ, at the right hand of God. We are promised to be joint heirs with Christ and inherit all that Christ inherits. Jewell
I see 8 references to being children of God (or similar statements). We see promises of sonship, co-heirs with Christ, sharing in his glory, liberation from bondage, glorious freedom, hope, help from the Spirit, intercession from the Spirit, and the promise that in all things God works for the good of those who love him. Our future awaits us as adopted children. Our future holds hope which we wait for patiently (and sometimes not so patiently).

Snaps
Q1. In Romans 8:14-21, 28, how many times is the idea of being sons and daughters of God alluded to? What are the promises made to these sons and daughters? What do we learn about our future and our role in the future of all creation? I get 9 direct references to the sons or children of God. Promises 1. We can call God Abba, (Father). 2. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God 3. Being Children of God, we are heirs of God/joint heirs with Christ. 4. If we suffer with Him we are glorified together with Him - glory will be revealed in us. 5. All creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God, 6. when it also will be delivered from futility with us. Futility means the bondage (and hopelessness) of corruption. Our future is that we will be revealed as sons of God, that we will be glorified through our suffering with Him, that we will be completely delivered from the futility and hopelessness of corruption, that we will inherit with Jesus the Kingdom of God,,
