a) The primary purpose of God putting His Spirit upon selected individuals in the Old Testament was for empowerment for His divine assignment (God's work upon their lives) and to know Him intimately. This bring His precious presence, transformation and boldness to minister accordingly. b) Effect: His Spirit is the key to their relationship with God. This enable them to lead God's people and also make their gifting unique from ordinary people.
