Q6. (James 1:22) Why are we so easily fooled into thinking that listening to Bible teaching means that we are living out righteous lives? What is the nature of the self-deception? We are so easily fooled because we have been programmed to think that because we read something it, we by default become it. The nature of the self-deceit is that we think that we are being righteous, but we really are not. We think because we read something or we act a certain way that means we are righteous but that is further from the true.

Q5. (James 1:18) In what sense are we given spiritual birth by the “word of truth”? What does spiritual life have to do with the Word? The "word of truth" gives us knowledge and wisdom to help us die to the deeds of the flesh and to be born again spiritually. The spiritual life should be a reflection of the word of truth.

I had answered Questions 1-3 before I realized that I had not signed in lol. Q4. (James 1:5-8) What is the promise to claim in verse 5? What is the condition attached to this promise in verse 6? How do trials help us receive this wisdom? The promised claimed in verse 5 is that is I lack wisdom that I can ask God and God will give me the wisdom I need win order to accomplish what I could not otherwise without Him. He would give it to me without reservations or to hold back any good thing from me.
