  1. Q16. (Mark 9:36-37; Matthew 19:13-15; Matthew 25:31-46). What does welcoming and associating with low-status people have to do with humbling ourselves? You bring yourself to their level and lift them up to your level of meeting them. Where do the people in your community live who are the poorest economically? Community is always classicized in lower, middle and upper class. The poorest normally are part of the lower or evenly separate from the lower class. Who are somewhat isolated from the rest of the community because of their language or national origin? Foreigners. How do you and your church reach out to them? Learn them to do things for themself. What could you do? If they are willing give them a rod to fish and not fish to eat.
  2. Q15. (Matthew 18:1-4) In what way does "becoming like little children" require us to humble ourselves before God? Children thoughts and action are simplicity and innocence.
  3. Q14. (Matthew 23:7-12) Why do the Pharisees love to be called "Rabbi." How can titles and recognition exalt our pride? The point Jesus is making is not that a particular title is wrong, but what is in the heart. This love of public attention flows from pride. When people fail to recognize our work or accomplishments, why does it hurt? You have put in your everything and very best. How much of our motivation is to puff up our ego? There must be NONE and IF the motive is wrong. In the area of seeking recognition and praise, how can we meaningfully humble ourselves? Firstly everything we do, do it unto GOD.
  4. Q13. (Luke 18:9-14) How does the Pharisee in this parable exalt himself? Pharisees tended to "look down on" (NIV) everyone else as unrighteous. They "treated others with contempt" GOD thank you that I am not like other men robbers, evildoers, adulterers and or even like this tax collector. How do comparison and looking down on others reflect pride? You put yourself above others. How does the tax collector humble himself? He describes himself to God as a sinner. He makes no excuses for his behavior, offers no mitigating circumstances. He confesses his sinfulness before God and takes full responsibility for it. Jesus says that the tax collector is "justified before God." He has repented, he tell GOD about his inner being. Is deep repentance or humbling oneself before God necessary for salvation? Yes. Does repentance have anything to do with faith or "believing in Jesus"? Yes.

Because it determine who you are, that's why HOLY SPIRIT must be in control of your life. Why are repentance and humbling so vital? Repentance to get immediately rid of the wrong doing and thoughts.
  6. Q11. (Philippians 2:5-11). In which two ways does Jesus humble himself according to this passage? As a slave and a human being. Why did Jesus humble himself? HE was obedience to HIS FATHERS will. What is his motivation for humbling himself? JESUS knew that HIS FATHER is with HIM. JERSUS knew HIS FATHER orchestrate and control everything. What is the result of Jesus' humbling of himself? HIS FATER exalted HIM to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,

No, we are firstly human and there after adding title only to perform your temporally job diligently. How does Jesus use rebukes to form disciples? JESUS rebukes in a gentle manner. Out of Humility or compassion lies at the root from which other virtues flow. Jesus' ministry was also characterize by treats the people HE ministers to with gentleness and consideration. We will also see that JESUS during HIS time of three years of ministry healed the sick. JESUS has also minister to the lost. Which shows the greatest degree of humbling? Humility that is synonym of compassion.
  9. Q8. (John 5:41, 44) How is Jesus' refusal to seek men's praise an example of humility? JESUS seeks only his Father's approval and praise, not man. How does this free him to do God's will? Humility sets JESUS free. How can seeking approval from others cripple our discipleship? Man is not always trustworthy. Put JESUS first then man.
  10. Q7. (John 5:19, 30) In what sense is Jesus powerless on his own? JESUS doesn't operate independently of the Father. The SON can do nothing by HIMSELF. What is the key to Jesus' power and effectiveness? JESUS can do only what HE sees HIS FATHER doing. How does this demonstrate his basic humility? JESUS submit HIM totally to the FATHER. How can we emulate Jesus in this? By following JESUS' example, to say we can do nothing by ourself. We can do only what JESUS is doing. How does that demonstrate our humility? We submit and surrender our being towards JESUS.
  11. Q6. (Matthew 11:28-30) In what sense is Jesus "gentle and lowly in heart"? JESUS is gentle, as the saying is HE will not force HIM on to man. JESUS always portray loving kindness and compassion towards man. JESUS is lowly, HE has a SERVANT heart. JESUS will first consider to fulfill the need of others. What does this tell us about him? SON of GOD and SON of man. How does this make him comfortable for struggling people to be around? JESUS knew that HE has already a solution to their challenges.
  12. Q5. (Philippians 2:2-5) How can we rationally consider others' concerns more important than our own? By put on true humility, the prefect example of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. Does agapē love for others make good sense? Yes, GODLY love towards others. What does adopting this viewpoint do for humility in us? Everything!!! transparent in love. What aspects of Christ's example of humbling himself (verses 5-11) should be instructive for us? CHRIST humble HIMSELF to death, so that we can humble ourself for our neighbor.
  13. Q4. (Romans 12:3-5) Why is an accurate self-assessment of our spiritual state so important? We will understand our spiritual gifts and our self. Why is discovering our spiritual gifts so important? To walk in the right way so that we can pleasing GOD. How might pride and anger arise if we imagine we fit somewhere that God didn't design us for? This is only when things are done in own strength then success in own strength leads to pride or when it fails to anger.
  14. Q3. (Deuteronomy 8:17-18; 1 Corinthians 4:7) What happens in our heart when we attribute success to our own strength and abilities? Getting full of pride and forgetting our GOD's gifts to us. How does a realization that everything we have is a gift affect our ability to humble ourselves? By remembering that the LORD your GOD, give us strength and the ability to produce wealth. So everything we have has been given to us by God and belongs to GOD.
  15. Q2. (Matthew 5:3-10; Colossians 3:10-12). Why do you think that virtues flow from humility and vices flow from pride? Humility is the fountain from where virtues (love) flows. Pride is the fountain from where vice (self-centered) knows better then others and GOD. Why are humility and pride so central to character? It is every easy to become full of humility or pride depending your out look, are you CHRIST focus of worldly focus.
  16. Q1. (Matthew 22:36-40) How does a two-part definition of humility correspond to the two greatest commandments? Humbling oneself in submission before God = Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Humble service of others = Love your neighbor as yourself. In what sense is humility "a low self-focus combined with a high other-focus"? "Low self-focus" involves humbling ourselves before God. "High other-focus" involves concern for others and humble service to alleviate their needs. What does that look like in a disciple? A disciple must shown humbleness before GOD and serve in humbleness the neighbor.
  17. Q4. (1 Chronicles 22-29) Why do you think David prepares for the temple, even after the Lord refuses to let him build it? David's passion to build the temple begins to increase, he wants to make sure the temple would be built. How did David cooperate with the Holy Spirit in designing the temple and its worship? But you will have a son who will be a man of peace and rest, and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon, and I will grant Israel peace and quiet during his reign. 10 He is the one who will build a house for my Name How did David's example in giving motivate others to give? "The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the LORD. David the king also rejoiced greatly."
  18. Q3. (2 Samuel 24:14-25) Why does David choose the punishment of a plague on the people rather than his other choices? David believes strongly in the mercy of his God. David insists on paying Araunah for the threshing floor and the sacrifices. What principle drives this decision? I will not sacrifice to the LORD my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing. How should this principle guide our own giving to God? When we give our tithes and offerings to the Lord, do we bring just a pittance. Or do we bring enough to actually cost us something? Is our tithe a mere token or a true piece of us?

The oracle of David son of Jesse, the oracle of the man exalted by the Most High, the man anointed by the God of Jacob, Israel's singer of songs. In what sense was David a prophet? The Spirit of the LORD spoke through me; his word was on my tongue. 3 The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me.... What is the main message of verses 3-7? GOD's righteously and fears. How can this psalm guide government officials and elected leaders in our day? To rule under GOD's righteously and fears.
  20. Q1. (2 Samuel 22 = Psalm 18) What do you find the most inspiring in the language of this psalm? "2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; 3 my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior -- from violent men you save me. 4 I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies." (22:2-4) What encourages you the most? 33 It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. 34 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. Write down all the various titles and metaphors used of God in this psalm. he LORD is my rock He is my stronghold he LORD thundered from heaven You are my lamp, O LORD He is a shield He makes my feet like the feet of a deer Praise be to my Rock
  21. Q4. (2 Samuel 16-20) What does this passage teach us about David's character and faith? David still wants to do things in peace, although Judah and Israel had anointed Absalom to throne David looks pass it. David knew what was the promised from GOD about who will crow king after him. GOD's choice not men. What does it reveal about Joab's character? He will do what even it takes to do the right thing. What kind of faith do you see in Joab? Joab knew the promise that Solomon will be the crown prince therefor he support unwaveringly David in this. What does this passage teach us about the importance of friends? Never doubt, always have open communication. Is Joab really David's friend? Yes.
  22. Q3. (2 Samuel 18:1-19:8) Why does David command mercy for Absalom in the battle? David wants Absalom alive. David will be soft on Absalom, he doesn't discipline his sons when they need it Why does Joab kill him against David's orders? Joab does what needs to be done to counteract David's own weakness for his sons. How does David's loud mourning threaten his kingdom? David's mourning can be heard all over the city and puts a damper on what would normally be rejoicing over a great victory over the army of Absalom. This means as stated by Joab that David humiliated all your men, who have just saved his life and the lives of his sons and daughters and the lives of his wives and concubines and goes on rebuking David that he love those who hate him and hate those who love him. What does this say about his followers' loyalty? They are loyal unto death towards David. What does it say about David's faith? David's faith towards GOD doesn't change even in him weakness he still trust GOD for coming through for him. About his weaknesses? His weakness for his family in specific his sons teared him down making him a weak king.
  23. Q2. (2 Samuel 16:5-14) Why doesn't David silence Shimei son of Gera from cursing him? David believes that perhaps the Lord has told Shimei to curse him as part of the Lord's judgment. Is this a political decision or a spiritual decision? Spiritual decision, because David takes it with humility. He is in repentance; his arrogance is gone. What does it tell us about David's faith? David's trust in God's mercy.
  24. Q1. (2 Samuel 15:14-30) Why does David flee Jerusalem rather than stay and fight? David's immediate challenges are two-fold: Food and supplies. To survive a siege, a city must stock up with food and military supplies to last for many months. If they don't, they'll be starved out. David has had no advance notice of Absalom's coup. There is no stock of food, which means that it is inevitable that Jerusalem will fall to Absalom -- and soon! This assumes that Jerusalem's fortifications are not under construction or in disrepair. There hasn't been a military threat to the city in more than twenty years. Military weakness. David's professional mercenary troops -- Kerethites, Pelethites, and Gittites -- are with him in Jerusalem. And they are a fierce fighting force! But their numbers are very small compared to the national militia Absalom has access to, which can draw on tens of thousands of Israelites from all over the kingdom. This crisis forces him to look to the welfare of his people What are David's emotions during this retreat? David's attitude was one of submission to Yahweh Why doesn't he take the ark with him into exile? The ark is not David's personal shrine to take with him wherever he goes. Does this exhibit faith, fatalism, or submission? Through his tears and his mourning and his repentance, this is the faith-filled, obedient David we see. What does this tell us about his faith?   25. Q4. (2 Samuel 13-15:13) It's difficult to find positive spiritual lessons in these sad and grim chapters. What negative spiritual lessons do you find? David seems incapable of restoring order to his family or to his kingdom.
