  1. Q5. (Hebrews 9:11-12) What does "redemption" mean? Redemption means to be free. What were we redeemed from? We were redeemed from our slavery to sin. What was the price of our redemption? The price of our redemption was the Blood of Christ. How long does our redemption last? Our redemption is for all eternity. Praise The Lord!
  2. Q4. (Hebrews 9:9) Why were external sacrificial regulations unable to cleanse or perfect the conscience? To be cleansed and have a clear conscience we must accept the sacrifice that Jesus made for us. He offered us forgiveness and salvation, we have to receive it. How does a guilty conscience keep us from intimacy with God? A guilty conscience puts up a barrier between us and God. We have to humble ourselves before God and ask for forgiveness to clear our conscience so we can have access to God. What is necessary for us to be able to come "boldly" (4:16)? To be able to come boldly, we have to accept the Sacrifice that Jesus made for us.
  3. Q3. (Hebrews 9:7) Did the Old Covenant provide forgiveness for intentional, active, maintained rebellion against God? There were no sacrifices provided that would atone for deliberate, defiant, and repetitive sins. Does the New Covenant provide this forgiveness? Jesus died for all our sins, intentional and non intentional. What is required for forgiveness to be granted? It is required that, through faith, we repent and ask God for forgiveness.

What are the primary promises of the New Covenant as prophesied in Jeremiah 31:31-34? 1. God's law will no longer be external, but will become internalized "in their hearts... on their hearts" by the Holy Spirit. 2. They will be together as God and his people. 3. They will all know the Lord personally. 4. They will be forgiven from their sins.
  5. Q1. (Hebrews 8:6) In what sense is Jesus the "mediator" of a new covenant? Jesus is our mediator because He was sent by God. He goes before God and intercedes for us . What did he do to mediate this? Jesus became our mediator of the new covenant when He went to the Cross and died for us.

Jesus differs from human high priests because non other is perfect like He is. What about Jesus' role as High Priest gives you special confidence? He, like none other, loves me just as I am even though I am a sinner and He forgives those sins.

To intercede for us. Why is intercession the essence of being a priest? Because He was set aside by God for this reason.
