Q2. Humility and Boldness
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 3. Abraham's Prayer for Sodom (Genesis 18:16-33)
Q2. How did Abraham demonstrate his humility before God? By admitting that he was nothing but dust and ashes. Why must boldness be tempered with humility? If boldness is not tempered with humility our pride would take over and we would be saying that we are more righteous than God. -

Q3. Prayer and Determinism
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Moses' Intercession for Israel (Exodus 32:9-14)
Q3. How can a wrong understanding of determinism and predestination keep us from the kind of gutsy prayer that Moses prayed? The wrong belief in predestination could stop us from praying at all. If we believe that we have been predestined to either Heaven or hell, then why bother What do you call a belief that our prayers make no difference to God's response? I know without a doubt that God answer -

Q1. Rebellion
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Moses' Intercession for Israel (Exodus 32:9-14)
Q1. Read Exodus 32:1-14. What had the people done that was so bad? They made a golden calf out of gold and worshiped it as their god. How can a loving God be angry? Because they sinned against Him and were disobedient. Is God's sentence to destroy Israel and raise up a new nation through Moses justified? It was God -
Q4. Why should we continually ask forgiveness? We need to continually ask forgiveness because we continue to sin. How can unforgiveness on our part block God's blessing? God will bless us according to what we deserve. If we refuse to forgive, he will withhold his blessings to us. How can unforgiveness block God's forgiveness? In Matthew 6: 15 Jesus says,

Q1. What about our lives and words "hallows" the name of our Father? When our prayers show reverence and respect for our Father God. What desecrates and besmirches it? When we use His name in Vain, disrespect Him and do not honor and obey Him. How should we "hallow" the Father when we begin to pray? Our prayers should always be full of thanks and praise to our God. -
Q33. Glory in the Church
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 3.3. Paul's Prayer and Doxology (3:14-21)
Q4. (Ephesians 3:21) What might be different in your own congregation if bringing glory to God were considered the very most important function of the church? Giving God the Glory is very important in my Church and we work hard to make sure that happens. We have several outreach programs where we help those in our community that need our help. God gets all the Glory for the results of those programs. On the other hand, there are a few that like to run things or be in charge of everything and some that don -
Q32. Filled with the Spirit
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 3.3. Paul's Prayer and Doxology (3:14-21)
Q3. (Ephesians 3:16, 19) What does it mean to be "filled with the Spirit" (verse 16)? It means that we have given ourselves over to Christ. We live through Christ and our lives are transformed. Is this a one-time experience or a continual reality? Being filled with the Holy Spirit is a continual reality. He is working through us helping us to be more like Christ. What can we do to be filled with the Spirit? We need to surrender our hearts and lives to God, confess our sins, and be born again. Is it different or the same as being "filled with all the fullness of God" (verse 19)? God and the Holy Spirit are one, so it is the same. -
Q31. Far Reaches of Love
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 3.3. Paul's Prayer and Doxology (3:14-21)
Q2. (3:18-19) What kinds of things prevent us from comprehending the far reaches of Christ's love? I believe that our finite minds have a hard time grasping this kind of love. We are so focused on our material possessions and things of this world, that we have a hard time comprehending what Christ has done for us and how much He loves us. What happens in the way we live when we do comprehend, know, and experience this love? Our lives change dramatically. Our focus is on Him instead of us, and we are able to experience and enjoy this Love and share it with those around us. What would be different about your life if you could grasp this? I would not be so self centered and absorbed in -
Q30. Strengthening
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 3.3. Paul's Prayer and Doxology (3:14-21)
Q1. (Ephesians 3:16-17) Do the concepts of (a) strengthened by the Spirit in the inner person, and ( Christ dwelling in our hearts say the same thing, or are they separate and distinct ideas? What do you think? Christ and The Spirit are one so I believe these two statements are the same. When I invite Christ into my heart and accept Him as my Lord and Savior, I am then strengthened by the Holy Spirit. -
Q4. What does Ephesians 3:12 teach us about the manner of approaching God? We can approach God with freedom and confidence because we are the adopted children of God. We approach Him with Faith. What happens if we try to pray without these qualities? If we pray without the Faith, confidence and freedom, our prayers will not be heard.

Q2. (Ephesians 3:6) Just what is the "mystery" that Paul is talking about? The mystery is that the Gentiles have been welcomed into the family of God as His adopted children. Why was it important to the Gentile Christians in Paul's day? It was important because they were no longer lost, we are now all equal in God
-
Q1. (Ephesians 3:2-5) Why is God's revelation to "his holy apostles and prophets" our authority for faith and practice? Because it is the Word of God. We should take His Word to heart without question. What is the danger of minimizing or straying from that revelation? To minimize or stray from His Word, would be to disobey God. What is the danger of superseding that revelation? If we supersede the revelation, we are doing our own thing instead of God

We were created to do good works to bring Honor and Glory to God (Matthew 5:16) What is the difference between these works and the works Paul discredits in verse 9? Q19. Saved
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2.2. Salvation by Grace through Faith (2:8-10)
Q2. "Saved" has become Christian jargon. How can you "translate" this word into modern speech so people can understand what it really means and why they need it? To be saved in this sense, is just like being saved from a fatal illness. The Doctor does what is necessary to save your life (by giving you medication or doing surgery.) In the same sense, God does what is necessary to save your soul (by forgiving your sins.) He saves or rescues you from your life of sin. -
