AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #6. That I May Know Him (Philippians 3:1-11)
Q4. (3:8-10) What does it mean to "know" Christ? To know Christ is more than believing in Him and His Promises. After all, Satan -
Q3. Righteousness through Faith
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #6. That I May Know Him (Philippians 3:1-11)
Q3. (3:9) How does righteousness obtained through faith differ from righteousness obtained through law observance? Righteousness obtained through law is dependant on our following the laws of man. Righteousness obtained through faith is dependant on God -

Q4. From what you've read in Philippians so far, what seems to be the Philippian church's chief problem? They had no one to lead them, like Paul did. How does Paul's description of Timothy's character speak to this problem? Timothy had a genuine concern for the people, and had his focus on Jesus, not on his own interests. How does Paul's call to honor men like Epaphroditus speak to this problem? Epaphroditus, like Timothy and Paul, had a genuine concern for the people. Since they loved and respected him, they would listen to him.

Q1. (2:19-21) Why was Timothy's selfless concern so rare among church leaders? His concerns were not self centered. He had a genuine love and concern for others and their needs, unlike some Church leaders that do their work just for the praise they hope to receive. Rather than pointing the finger at others in your church, consider yourself. What things has Jesus had to deal with in your life that has helped you to become genuinely selfless and focused on the concerns of others? The Lord had to deal with the fact that I was very self centered and my focus was on my needs and wants and on the things of this world. How has he refined you? (Of course, he is still at work in us!) The process has begun. My focus is now more on Him and not on myself and my wants. Of course it

Q4. Do Struggles Honor God?
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #4. God Is at Work in You (Philippians 2:12-18)
Q4. (2:17) You have gone through struggles and obstacles to your faith. If you were to look at your sufferings as a "drink offering" poured out before God, how does that honor God? When you are going through trials and struggles, what better time is there to depend on God. When you come out of your trial and your faith is still strong, that gives honor and glory to God. I saw this quote a few months ago and saved it -

Q1. Work Out Your Salvation
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #4. God Is at Work in You (Philippians 2:12-18)
Q1. (2:12-13). In this passage, what does it mean to "work out your own salvation"? That we, as a Church, are to become more like Christ. -
Q4. Exalting the Humble
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3. He Emptied Himself (Philippians 2:1-11)
Q4. (2:9-11) We know we're supposed to humble ourselves like Jesus did. But how can we know whether or not God will exalt us? We can know that God will exalt us because He said He would. "For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted." (Matthew 23:12) I believe the Word of God without question. Why do we get impatient with this? Patience is not a virtue that most of us have. When we are told that we will receive a gift as great as this, we want it NOW! What does our impatience sometimes lead to? When we become impatient, we are allowing Satan to rule our lives instead of God. Satan is always trying to put doubts in our minds concerning our Faith. We have to learn how to turn Satan off and keep our eyes on Jesus. -
Q3. Jesus the Human Being
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3. He Emptied Himself (Philippians 2:1-11)
Q3. (2:7-8) Was Jesus really a human being or only pretending to be one? Jesus was sent here to be just like us. He faced the same temptations that we do and was just as human as we are. Pretending indicates a lie, and Jesus was sinless. What do these verses teach? When Jesus came to this earth, he took our form and became like us. If we are to be His disciples, we must become like Him. What difference does it really make whether or not Jesus was human? If Jesus had not come in human form, he could not have experienced the same emotions that we do, and would not have experienced temptation. His life on earth would have meant nothing. -
Q2. Equality with God
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3. He Emptied Himself (Philippians 2:1-11)
Q2. (2:6) In your own words, what does it mean that Christ didn't cling to his equality with God? Jesus is God, and when He was born into this world to be just like us, He was still God. He didn -
Q1. Humility and Unity
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3. He Emptied Himself (Philippians 2:1-11)
Q1. (2:1-4). To achieve unity in your congregation, why is humility necessary? Without humility we are full of pride and everything is about us. If the focus is always on -
Q3. (1:20-21) How can fear keep us from being a bold witness? It is human nature for us to want to be accepted and liked. Sometimes the fear of rejection will stop us from witnessing to others. Why does fear of people bind our tongues? I can only speak for personal reasons of my own. My fear is that I will be unable to answer questions that I may be asked. I know this fear is Satan trying to keep me from witnessing, and I struggle to not listen to his voice. How does "losing our life" for Christ's sake actually give us an abundant life? To

Q2. (1:18b-19) Why is our ability to rejoice so dependent upon our faith that God is in control, working even in the midst of difficulty? Even while going through the most difficult times in our life, our problems cannot control us because we know that God is in control. We know that God is faithful and will keep His promise to always be there for us. What must you believe in order to be able to rejoice in the midst of problems? That no matter what problems we are experiencing, it is God

Q1. Crediblity
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #2. Struggles that Advance the Gospel (Philippians 1:12-30)
Q1. (1:12-14) From the standpoint of witness to others, you are much more credible when you are undergoing personal struggles, stress, and problems. Why is this so? If you can maintain the same faith and belief in God when you are having personal struggles and trials, that you have when -
Q4. Discerning the Best
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #1. Approve What Is Excellent (Philippians 1:1-11)
Q4. (1:9-11) Why does Paul ask God to give the Philippian Christians discernment? So they would be able to tell what is good and what is best for them. What will be the result of discernment in their lives? They will remain pure and blameless until Christ comes again. How does selfishness cloud discernment? Our selfishness clouds discernment when we forget that it -
Q3. Bring to Completion
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #1. Approve What Is Excellent (Philippians 1:1-11)
Q3. (1:6) What does Paul expect God to do for the Philippian believers? Paul expects God to carry to completion, the good works he had started. Why does he expect God to do this? Because Paul had faith that God would keep His promise. What is the basis of Paul's confidence? God -
Q2. Partners
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #1. Approve What Is Excellent (Philippians 1:1-11)
Q2. (1:6) When we become financial "partners" with a Christian missionary, minister, ministry, or church, what do we receive out of the partnership? When we become financial partners with a Missionary, or any Christian ministry, God has promised that we will be blessed and our needs will be met. What other kinds of support might we offer beyond financial? We can offer Prayer support, love and we can give of our time. -
Q1. Slaves and Saints
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #1. Approve What Is Excellent (Philippians 1:1-11)
Q1. (1:1) What is the basic idea of "slave"? A slave is subject to the will of his/her master. What is the root idea of "saint"? A saint is holy and dedicated to the service of God. In what way are these words saying the same thing about a Christian's relationship to God? In a way, we are slaves to God because we are subject to His Will, and we serve only one Master, God. -
Q5. Course Evaluation
AngelOnLine replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 8. Praying the Prayer of Faith (James 5:13-20)
Q5. Now that you're finished with James: Practical Christianity, what did you get out of this study? It made me take a closer look at my own spiritual life and ask myself is my Faith as strong as I think it is. How would you evaluate the study? I love this study and all of the studies Pastor Ralph has done. What can be improved? The studies are great; the only improvement needed, that I can think of, would be my own prayer life.
