Gideon blames God for his troubles in that all around him he sees his people living in fear and oppression. no matter how hard they work they seem to be working to keep the Midianitse fed (sort of like the childrens film The Bugs Life where the ants worked really hard to try and keep the grasshoppers happy) Gideon is only looking at the present situation and not the behaviour that led up to this point. he seems to have forgotten that the nation had got very clear rules from God which they had broken nad they were now living with the circumstances. sometimes we can forget who got us into situations in the first place, ourselves, God gives us such clear ways in how we need to live in every aspect of our lives that if we followed them we would not get into such messes. God does not tempt us or try to trap us and glory in our wrong doing He wants the best for us like any parent does and is not out to abuse his power. When we blame God for problems we have as a result of our sin we are in danger of rebellion and brings us no closer to God. i am a very stubborn person with a strong will and if i feel backed up into a corner even by God i fight and struggle. this is very wearing and means that my spiritual life is not growing during this time as i am full of resentment and self-righteousness. i am still learning how to spot this happening before it has taken a hold and look for gods help at the start not the end.
