Q1. God's Glory
seeking replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #4 Submitting and Suffering Like Jesus (1 Pet 2:13-23)
People see God through us so by us living lives that Christlike He gets the glory. Should we be unruly and rebellious we detract from the very nature of Christ. We are supposed to be the reflection of Christ. -
Q4. Combatting Lies
seeking replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3 Being God's Temple, Priesthood, and People (1 Pet 2:4-12)
He reminds us that we are sojourners and that here is not our permanent home. The sinful desires seek only to destry our soul. This encourages us not to get caught up in this world and its pleasures since they are not harmless. He let us know the seriousness of falling into such false thinking. That we need to keep our focus on what is to come and by doing so w ecan avoid the snares and pitfalls of the world. -
Q3. God's Own People
seeking replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3 Being God's Temple, Priesthood, and People (1 Pet 2:4-12)
We should seek to serve him in all obedience and to honour him in all that we do. We should be greatful for all that he has done. we should look at fellow christians as part of our extended family and thus act accordingly. -
Q2. Offering Praise
seeking replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3 Being God's Temple, Priesthood, and People (1 Pet 2:4-12)
We should offer it selflessly and not as in just mere hope of receiving bennefits as we offer praise. -
Q2. Offering Praise
seeking replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3 Being God's Temple, Priesthood, and People (1 Pet 2:4-12)
We should praise God from the depths of our being. Our praise shouldnt be dependent on how we feel, it should be continual even when we dont feel like praising him. Our praise should be sacrifical. We no longer sacrifice bulls and lambs our praise has replaced such. -
Q1. Priesthood
seeking replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3 Being God's Temple, Priesthood, and People (1 Pet 2:4-12)
The mindset is to serve God with all diligence. That we should seek to follow him in obedience. Being a priest shouldnt be looked on as a position of which one boasts but one of servitude and as a person who wants to worship God and thank him for all that he has done. -
Yes at times I have felt as if i was of not much worth. In 1 Peter 1: 18-19 tells me that I was bought with something more valuable than gold and silver thus making me a person of great value and worth. This makes me realise that God loves me that much that he would purchase me at such a high cost. It means that I am forever precious in his sight. Wordly assessment of value is not lasting and that we are above that categorisation in God's eyes.

Q3. Judgment and Gospel
seeking replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #2 Living Holy Lives (1 Pet 1:13-2:3)
People are upset because they do not want to feel gulity about anything that they may do. If someone judges them they may point out what they are doing is wrong thus causing them to feel guilty. Therefore to get away from this guilt they become defensive about getting judged. God cannot allow sinful nature to continue therefore he must judge us. If there was no judgement our lives will fall into complacency. Yes God is love and we must stress that in the gospel but we must also specifiy that he will judge unrighteousness. -
Holiness means living a life that is pleasing to God. A life of purity body and this does not only mean physical purity but purity of the mind, heart and thoughts also. I am being holy now by forsaking sin and seeking to resist all temptation to fall in to sin. Holiness requires obedience because it is when we disobey God that we sin. When we sin and remain in sin we are acting unholy. The biggest struggle is overcoming times of disobedience to God.

Q1. Christ's coming
seeking replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #2 Living Holy Lives (1 Pet 1:13-2:3)
The fact he is returning to complete his salvation in us and our faith will receive its reward and His glory will be manifested. Hope because we will receive a crown of glory and he will restore , strenghten and confirm us. Self control and soberness : our lives will be judged by him. So we are to live holy lives. We are do so constantly since we dont know the hour or day when he shall return. When we dont expect Christ to return soon we fall in to complacency and sometimes get caught up in sinful practices. Thinking that we will get it right just before he comes. -
Our inexpressible and glorious joy is based on the fact that we will see him one day. That our salvation will be completed. this inner joy gives us a sense of peace to weather storms that may arise in our lives. This is not purely emotional because even when we are not happy we can have a joy within. This is based on something much more than feelings. Real joy is when you can feel a peace eventhough all seems to be in turmoil in one's life.

Q4. Refining Faith
seeking replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #1 Rejoicing in Our Salvation (1 Pet 1:1-12)
Yes even now i am going through such. I understand that God wants me to depend on him solely, not on anyone or anything. Sometimes we get so comfortable when everything seem to be going well in our lives that we seem to put God on the back burner. Then trials and testings come and they show just how "insecure" these thinsg can be. Our only secure hope is Christ. However when we go through these experiences and we depend on God and let his peace shine through us at these difficult times it can encourage others around us to serve him. For they will see that there is somone who is in our lives who brings us through the storm safely. -
Q3. Secure by Faith
seeking replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #1 Rejoicing in Our Salvation (1 Pet 1:1-12)
God sent his son to die for us and has welcomed us into his fold. He has already completed his part . We cant add anything to it. Yet we are to believe and by believing we obey his word. Yes nothing can pluck us from God's hand but maybe we can walk away from him.We can turn our backs on Him and what he has done for us. so our part is to rest assure in his saving grace and obey his word. -
Q2. Forgiveness and Obedience
seeking replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #1 Rejoicing in Our Salvation (1 Pet 1:1-12)
Forgiveness and obedience come together as a package to ensure that we do not take God's grace for granted and to become complacent in our lives. Sometimes we may feel as if we can sin because there is always forgiveness but we also need to realise that we need to obey God's word. Yes w eare forgiven but we must obey. Focusing only on forgiveness may allow the believer to feel comfortable in his or her sin. Yes we are saved by grace and being saved then instills in us the desire to do good works. Good works are a reflection of who we are. Its a tangible demonstration of who we are.
