  1. This study has helped me to to understand and question my own beliefs, a pursuit that all Christians should do regularly. Thank you for you guidance pastor Ralph JohnK-Cov
  2. How do trials help cure us of "doublemindedness"? By forcing us to concentrate upon essentials, be they health, wealth or spiritual. If we submit to the Lord's promptings He will guide and guard us in all things, the trick is to trust in the Lord without reserve! May you all know the peace of our Lord within your hearts. JohnK
  3. Q1. (1:2-4) What value have trials had in your life? Trials have shaped my understanding and reactions to life, without the various trials I'd still be wearing nappies (diapers?) in my dotage. Have you let Satan destroy you with those trials? Before I came to know that God was on my side, Satan was quite successful, nowadays less so. Or allowed God to refine you? I have been lucky, God has done the hard work for me, refining me in spite of myself. How have you changed? From being self centred and hedonistic to a more caring and "respectable" member of socieity. May you all know the love and peace of our Lord Jesus. John-K
  4. Hi, I'm John from Coventry UK, I usually just "lurk" around, this is the third or fourth studt I've done with Pastor Ralph and it promises to be a good one. May the love of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you through out this study. JohnK
  5. QUOTE 4b.) As you reflect on his life, what stands out for you? I suspect that like many the fact that dispite failing many times in his life (e.g. lying about the status of Sarah more than once)Abraham was still blest by God. If we are faithful to God and acknowlege when we mess up, He will be faithful to us and bless us. This has been my experience so far in life. May you know the peace of the Lord this season and always. JohnK-Cov
  6. QUOTE 4.) How does Abraham's near sacrifice of his beloved, only son Isaac help you understand better Jesus' crucifixion? Personally I find great difficulty in comprehending how anyone can sacrifice their own flesh and blood in any cause. I find it even more difficult to get my head around Jesus' sacrifice for me, but I rejoice that He did so, even though in my own unworthiness I don't 'deserve' it. In all Christian Love JohnK-Cov
  7. Q3. (22:14) How have you learned to trust God to provide for you? How has he provided for you in the past? God has provided for me throughout my life dispite my efforts to foul things up in the past. It is only in retrospect that I can appreciate his provision for me and indeed all mankind. Indeed it is only in retrospect that we can appreciate any of His workings All Christian love JohnK-Cov
  8. I echo PressThrough's amazement that God still wants to know me and has a plan for me. It is because He is the God Who Sees that he understands my faltering steps to follow Him. In awesome wonder JohnK
  9. Thank you so much for this study, like many others you have opened up a neglected book for me. May our Lord Jesus continue to bless you all. JohnK-Cov
  10. Can anyone have faith like another's? Surely our faith is founded on our life experiences and reactions to them, that it seems to me is the whole basis of free will. We can not say that we absolutely have faith like anothers if we haven't had their life experiences, it may be similar and our reactions may be very similar, but the depth of faith that we have accepted (or are able to accept) will vary. Lost in wonder at His generousity to me.
  11. Hi. I'm from Coventry, England. I am pretty much a novice to both computers & discussions about Christ. Guess you could call me a late starter as I am drawing my state retirement pension. In Gods love, JohnK
