Q4, Isaac's Prophetic Blessing
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Jacob the Deceiver (Genesis 25:19-34; 27:1-41)
The birthright being given up so foolishly makes me think of how I was lost before God led me home again. Praise God! Likewise, when Issac realized he had been tricked, he didn't try to cancel out the blessing he'd given Jacob, but just to mitigate the woe of Esau with a blessing to partly free him from the yoke of his brother. Was this not God's plan? Of course ti was. Esau learned he had been very foolish and Godless when he went to satisfy his stomach not his birthright. I would hope to learn to follow God faithfully from this lesson as I have just taken a new job, given another chance by our might God. I will only succed by following Him and His commands that are written in the Bible. -
Q3. Jacob Deceives His Father Isaac
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Jacob the Deceiver (Genesis 25:19-34; 27:1-41)
This is a lesson in lack of trust and faith that God will provide/deliver on His promise and prophecy, as He spoke to Rebekah. Like her, I do not wait on the Lord, but still His will is done at the expense of my energy and frustration. how can we learn to trust God more? Of course we read the Bible and these lessons and see the consequences of good faith, e.g. Abraham, and limited faith Rebekah. She felt she had the right to deceive Issac, but she'd taken things into her own hands. Jacob followed his mother's wishes to obey her, but was this really right? It seem that is not the case, and Jacob will have to evacuate the scene to avoid the consequences of his deception. It seems like that is how my situation is occuring and I'm greatfull that God has again delivered me. Praise God for this bible lesson and for my lesson in life. All these things are for us to learn to listen, follow and obey; there is no excuse than to trust the one how loves us the most. The rest is foolishness. As they say at my church, why not put all your money on the winning hourse in the race/game of life? -
Q2. An Interest in Spiritual Things
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Jacob the Deceiver (Genesis 25:19-34; 27:1-41)
Rebakah was quite spiritual; when the babies 'fought' in here stomach, she prayed to understand what was happening. she later counseled Jacob to fulfill the prophecy she had been told of. Jacob was an opportunist, and Esau was foolish and weak, and he was immoral and Godless according to Hebrews. It seems impossible he could give up something so important for short term hunger desire; was he tricked by the devil? I hate to look back at my life and think of moments when i was like Esau, so ready to obtain earthly things with no concern whether there was a God or not. I was so "smart" on my own, Thank goodness that God found me and brought me back into his flock. We are all sinners and should be careful before we judge Esau ourselves; as Jesus said, let he who has not sinned cast the first stone. -
Q1. Selling the Birthright
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Jacob the Deceiver (Genesis 25:19-34; 27:1-41)
Hebrews states that he was immoral or godless to traded his birthright as the firstborn son for a single meal. I could say he was foolish. We today have traded our connection with God for some stupid things as well. We worship the stock market and $$$ somethings we are afraid our $$ will not be sufficient and we have no faith. Other times we watch TV and forget about God. Or we do things with other that are un Godly, or that displease god because we don't put/love him first. We have no right to criticize either Esau or Jacob. We are sinners!! -
18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.19 A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; 20 he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.21 Evil will slay the wicked;the foes of the righteous will be condemned.22 The LORD redeems his servants; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him. This is the kind of encouragement we all need, more often than we realize. This is a powerful promise. When He redeems us, He make us new in his spirit and His truth. There is nothing more powerful. We are uplifted from brokenness, we are saved from the trials, in God's time and in His way. We are redeemed, made new from our faith in Him. We put all our trust and hope in Him. he loves us more than we can love Him; we are insecure, and He is perfect in His love, and strong for all that we can experience because He overcame Death He, overcame the world; He said give me your burdens, I will carry you through them. Have faith in me. This should be the song of our life, the sweet noice we give him to show our gratitude for such a marvelous gift we don't deserve. how amazing! Praise God!

1 [a] I will extol the LORD at all times;his praise will always be on my lips.2 My soul will boast in the LORD;let the afflicted hear and rejoice. 3 Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together. If we sincerely praise God for our salvation all the time, we will always be full of joy, which will show to others. It is a mental habit; so many tests/things pass in our minds while we are living each moment of the day. Our hope to capture EVERY though is a good one; it is very difficult to do this, impossible without God. This Psalm is a great reminder of what to do "Extol the Lord at ALL times"

22 The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone;23 the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. Jesus is the capstone of our church; he is our foundation, our salvation. The Lord, Father-God, raised him from the dead, what a miracle. This is the marvbelous sight for our eyses, those of us who have not seen yet we believe. 25 O LORD, save us;O LORD, grant us success. 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD. From the house of the LORD we bless you. [a] 27 The LORD is God, and he has made his light shine upon us. With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar. All our hope is upon Jesus; ther is no other hope. He said it, the bible says it across the new testament as well.

1 "Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth." So when it says SHOUT, it means SHOUT. This tells us to do strong worship, from the heart. SHOUTING takes a physical effort, and stirs the heart and mind. We should not give God left over emotions here! 2 "Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs." Here is says have a HAPPY heart and sing with this HAPPY heart. We have to mean it, not just go thorugh the motions. It means have emotion, real emotion for our creator and savior. 5 "For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations." This is our hope and our joy, This truth is the joy of our heart; as we pass our hope to the next generation His faithfullness will prevail over all. What a joy to realize, what a great hope to hold onto in any situation.

Q4. Psalm 51
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 11. Psalms: Finding Forgiveness and Restoration
David's sin had "made the enemies of the LORD show utter contempt" (2 Samuel 12:14) sop he was the worst example to those who saw how he lived. Then even if God forgives him, the consequences of this sin are later manifested in how his children treat him. If we lack deep sadness for our sin against someone that relationship that has been injured and must be restored by a true contrite heart; experience has hsown me that this doesn't work with humans who hold bitterly the pain of that sin against them. We know that David said "Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, " But our sins can break others and our hearts at the same time. An eye for an eye can kill love or bury it deep in disappointment. When we hold onto our pride, for any reason, we cover up our sins and aren't deeply sorry enough to get the forgiveness we think we are seeking; we are in such cases really messed up. In such cases, only God can heal this and make us new. when we learn to love again by receiving His love, we can help othe3rs to heal over time and we need to remind them that it is by God's love that this can happen, no other way. -
Q3. Psalm 51
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 11. Psalms: Finding Forgiveness and Restoration
In Longing for a Pure Heart it is good to learn to pray like David did, sincerely, feeling the pain of sin against a God he loves. Thisw lesson helps us to focus on some self-deceit/sin and imagine/feel how it removes us from God's love. So what do we really want in our heart? We want unconditional love which only comes from God. God can implant such love in others, but we are all still human and fallible; so we will dissapoint others. Perhaps it will be by arguments and miss-understanding rather than fornication and murder. We can pray for God to CREATE a pure heart and a willing steadfast spirit in us. He is not asking for too much; but he i s asking for a miracle from God, which God grants for His own pleasure, as we kneel before Him; we can be made "pure again" though previously corrupted? Yes, this is called God's GRACE. Jesus tests us, helps us discern right from wrong, and with iron he purifies our hearts. God spoke to Peter, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean" We are in all cases responsible for moving closer to God's love when He makes it clear to us how good it feels. -
Q2. Psalm 51
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 11. Psalms: Finding Forgiveness and Restoration
When David says, "Against you only I have sinned" he is not minimizing his sin against Bathsheba and Uriah; he recognizes that his heart can not be close to God from his sin/actions, his "self-deceit" When he mentioned sinfulness from before birth he is recognizing that as a human he is a sinner through and through, and that he can't be clean without putting God first. He describe sin as his rebellion, that inside he was twisted by earthly desire of someone so naturally beautiful, being naked [he should have been off at war], and his wickedness in ordering Uriah to be killed so as to have the woman for his own. [Not sure abortion was possible in those days]. Either way, he was headed to be a murderer, since he would not want Bathsheba to be stoned for her part in this sin. -
Q1. Psalm 32
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 11. Psalms: Finding Forgiveness and Restoration
"Self-deceit" - Fooling ourselves: We fool ourselves with 'rationalization' as to why we do things or put up with things/others-behavior, not communicating with "tough love" when disappointed. We become willingly trapped in patterns of behavior, becoming enslaved in sin of actions and omissions. Earthly-love is destroyed between couples which delights the devil and eats away at our soul. If we begin to reach out to Gods, even if we do not know why, it doesn't matter. God's wisdom and grace are so attractive it "tempts" to uncover what it is. this happens by studying the word with others, learning how to pray, learning how to recognize how we fool our selves. God can bring this on with strong emotional experiences that appear as mini-life crisis. The longer the 'self-deceipt' has occured th elonger it takes to unpeal, unless the life crisis is very powerful. In David's case, as a God fearing man he still sinned in seeing the beautiful woman, fornicating with her, and then killing her husband. Only a powerful king could do this and escape from public punishment; though David would regret it later in seeing how his children behaved against him. -
Q4. Psalm 22. Comparisons
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 10. Psalms: Looking Forward to the Messianic King
Psalm 22 starts with Jesus on the cross, "abandoned by God," but this was God's plan. 1 "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from the words of my groaning?" God used David as a profit to write these words, though it was when David was under attack, greatly stressed. His life paralleled what would happen with Jesus. Both were "saved." David from his enemies, as he sought God and later praised the Lord God his savior in Psalm 22. 19 But you, O LORD, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me. 20 Deliver my life from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs. 21 Rescue me from the mouth of the lions;save [d] me from the horns of the wild oxen. 22 I will declare your name to my brothers; in the congregation I will praise you. 23 You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him!Revere him, all you descendants of Israel! David's mind and heart are transformed from fear and despair to hope and trust; we know from history he was saved to die in peace, despite all his sins. This is of great comfort for a person like me a wretched sinner in the mind and a 'good-doer' on the surface, God transforms me to trust Him. Romans 5:1-5 (NLT) 1 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. 2 Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. So we can seek to be more like Christ when difficulties come, and call faithfully to God to deliver us, and to never forget to praise God, our creator. Sometimes this is quite hard, and is for me right now. That is why God led me to this study question today, to remind me to persevere until He delivers me. Jesus of course architected the situation and He positioned David to feel what he did and write these words given by the Holy Spirit. Jesus was an author of this plan ot use David as a profit and humble servant of our God. He give us example to proceed in life in the same manner, with perseverance, and faithful hope. Of course it is true that those who listen to God's call will seek to server others, and not react in fear. Thank you oh mighty God for humbling me, for testing my faith, for giving me confidence you will deliver me according to your perfect plan. Amen. -
Q1. Psalm 2
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 10. Psalms: Looking Forward to the Messianic King
This passage ends with a strong warning about "kissing the Son" or he will be angry and destroy you. It doesn't sound like a message of love and mercy which we find in the New Testament. Jesus' message of grace, peace and mercy was not revealed to the profit who wrote this Psalm. The maytery of God's love and mercy was meant to come from Jesus' lips only [so this verse would suggest] Whagt ever be the intent of this Psalm, for me it is clear the author is speaking about Jesus coming and our need to submit to Him. The message is one based upon awe and fear of the Lord. Anything less than full submission is foolish, yet today's world has many idols to worship if one is not careful, including our own Ego. I pray for wisdom to overcome all these distractions and server and follow as God wills me to do. -
Love and trustworthiness are critical emotions and reactions for humans of any era n history and especially today in 2010. Thye can lead to lower divorce rates, when the people lean on the Lord and trust first in his love. John, Luke, and Paul use the term trustworthiness several times: Luke 16 and 19, and 1 Corinthians, 1 and 2 Timothy, a Revelations 21 and 22. This is a critical part of trusting God.

I love this PSALM 145 as I love to praise our might gracious GOD! Even at this moment may my thoughts and words be hearfelt praise to Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit; "I will exalt you, my God the Kin [for all my days] I praise your Holy name Jesus, my savior. Great is the LORD and most worthy of all the praise we can imagine and much more to infinity; "His greatness no one can fathom" 5 The glorious splendor of His majesty,it calls on my heart ot exalt Him, to read and know of "the power of His* awesome works," So I will proclaim His great deeds: healing sick through out the ages from prayer requests and from Jesus directly; His righteousness and always fair judgments are a light to be focused upon, to glorify and hold in the heart. Thank goodness that the LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love beyond any human standard. I'm sure the rocks, trees, etc. have their own way ot praise Him, since they have movement in their atoms and electrons, they resonate to His frequency, the harmonics of eternal love. I keep asking God to make His light shine in me, and to fill my heart more and more so that I can server better, love more, be more able ot respond to people. And to be wiser on how to respond, and in some cases not to respond, as God tells me to. I am an encourager, and attend many events to encourage and offer others who are without work to make good $$ part-time by getting into my "save and restore identity ministry" doe by protecting others from identity theft. Praise God for where he takes me on this.

Q4. Psalm 24
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 8. Psalms: Exulting in the God of Our Salvation
God is our creator and King of all he has created, from nothing but His wisdom and imagination, an unbelievable miracle of life on this planet. [verse 1-2] in verse 3 He ask who can come to God our Holy Creator? We are reminded to be clean and pure and modest at all times. As sinners this is a tough role; thank God for your mercy and grace via Jesus' death and resurrection !!! Verse 7-10 reminds us how powerful is our King; He can overcome anything in the world even death. He is the King of all domains, good and evil spirits bow down to Him, our King fo glory!! -
Q3. Psalm 126
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 8. Psalms: Exulting in the God of Our Salvation
My family was in crisis. Was mom dying? They all felt it was true. yet in one day they were joyful that she was recovering. My sister prayed all night. I was calm, God told me she'd recover. I was able to be calm and deal with family members respectfully but with total optimism. God planned for me to be like this so they could see my faith. In one night God sent torrents of healing. and the result was a strong push back of death, and healing by our savior. Praise God. I simply can't praise Him enough! Typing thousands of words here would not repay Him enough for saving our mother. Praise God! -
Q2. Psalm 96
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 8. Psalms: Exulting in the God of Our Salvation
Ascribe to God gives Him the glory and adoration he deserves. We see every day God`s glory when the sun comes up, we see the creation all over the world and the power of nature and natural events we take for granted. We mjust not forget to ascribe and worship and adore the Lord realizing that He has done great things so we can be alive every day. He created us and deserves our complete obedience for His power and wisdom in nature. We must glorify Him and His name as He is all powerful. We acknowledge He is far greater than all things we can see or imagine. If is foolishness to fail to ascribe such quality to Him and he is sad, perhaps even heartbroken that we could say we love him and not Ascribe to him our Great Giver of life. -
Q1. Psalm 57
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 8. Psalms: Exulting in the God of Our Salvation
In my life the last 3 days I had to go to Chicago to hospital where some said my mother was dying. I saw many 'factual' people worried at her bedside. Some how God was calming me with a feeling by 'telling me' she'd be ok. When my family relatives left, it was calm with her alone. I was asking our God how should I pray and it became obvious in a few seconds that I should be praising Him and thanking Him for many many htings, not just the healing that would take place. Early the next morning my brother called my father to say the medication was taking affect and her vital signs were slightly improving. By the time we got to the hospital they were even better. Then they shot up into the bad again, but soon came down, and they went down further all day long. The next morning January 12th, yesterday, they were stable and quite a bit more healthy. I share this true life experience, God is amazing; He can do anything, even teach those of less faith like me to have more faith. Praise our mighty God for this test and lesson of life. -
Q3. Psalm 126
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 8. Psalms: Exulting in the God of Our Salvation
I need to focus on the desperation of the world and USA today, our fallen world. Then I can ascribe to the Lord and ask for Him to deliver us from the evils of the world and the flesh we don't need, and to ask Jesus to come again soon. My friend told me his company was going under, and he needed $22,000 to make is payroll. He humbled himself before God one night and said to Him "make me nothing," he asked to become a transparent servant to the Lord. He cried and prayed and the day he had to pay the payroll he received over $22,000 in outstanding debts, from slow payng customers. He made his payroll. So his life was like a Wadi, and I ask God to make mine a Wadi also. I ask God to challenge me and bring forward people who want to help "save and restore the identities of US citizens that have had their ID stolen by evil people who don't care." My desire is to ascribe to the Lord and ask Him to make me nothing, to kill my ego for the Glory of his work here on the earth, to help people without thinking of my getting anything. -
Q2. Psalm 96
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 8. Psalms: Exulting in the God of Our Salvation
Having reviewed webster's and Psalm 96 text, ascribe here can refer to giving credit to the Lord for the items referenced afterwards. Psalm 96 over all is focused on inhabitants of the earth being invited to praise the Lord, 1-3. His supreme majesty, 3-6. The tribes of Israel are invited to glorify him, 7-9; and to proclaim him among the heathen, 10. The heavens and the earth are commanded to rejoice in him. And the power of praise to God should not be a left-over emotion, not something to do with half a heart. This powerful Psalm ends in giving great glory to God. 11 Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it; 12 let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy; 13 they will sing before the LORD, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his truth. Let us rejoice in the Lord's faithfulness and the air we breather every day! Praise our might God! -
Q1. Psalm 57
royk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 8. Psalms: Exulting in the God of Our Salvation
Being awake and aware of circumstances is critical. Do we need work, do we need something at work fixed so we can get our money/"daily bread"? Here we have the test of faith. The more trying the circumstances the more we need faith. He said "Thanks praise server, obey." He did not say "whine and be afraid." If we are busy praising, we have no room in our head for fear and whining. We can always find something to be thankful for, the challenge is to keep that at the top of our presence. Feeling good with what we have is the best way to allow more good to come to us. Praise makes us feel good since we owe it all to God, without Him there is nothing, no earth, no are, no life, etc. Can we praise with the heart and be sad? It seems impossible. Can we talk ourselves into happiness by priase and thanks, it seems the answer is yes, as long a s we know for sure there is a God and he is LOVE. Praise Him! -
PSALM 46:2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Selah 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. This beautiful rive is a place of tranquility in comparison to the violent foaming waters of the sea. Putting our trust and hope in this calming force is a great advantage for christian minds. 10 "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." 11 The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah There is much evidence to the magnificence of God and his creation/s around us. He knows and and reigns over all, let his name be exaulted in our minds and be heard from our mouths!

In Psalm 31:5 David gave it all to God, acknowledging the root of his problem was himself and his actions. in Psalm 31:15 he accepted the situation and asked for God's mercy in a trusting manner, hoping and praying faithfully for deliverance. So David was delivered by his faith and prayer for deliverance. Such a powerful lesson to understand, the words of a famous King. This is a great encouragement to believe God will deliver us when we really need him.
