We should reverantaly fear God because God is love. Perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. We should have expectancy, looking to the time of Jesus' return when we live for eternity with Him.

I believe the statement, "God is love" is so important because when we are going through the storms of life, and think that we are all alone in this situation, we remember that we are not alone and He loves us. We can remember that there is a silver linning for every dark cloud. When we fall, we can know that God will be there to pick us up, dust us off and set us on the right path once again. The Bible says that if we forgive others, then God in His great mercy will forgive us. If there is no forgiveness, there is now love. So, we must love each other and God as He loves us.

The Holy Spirit that lives in us is greater then any false prophets and even satan. We can overcome them because the Holy Spirit makes us aware of the lies of satan and the untruths of the false prophets. This truth helps us to stay close to God's Word and not to fear because God has promised that satan or his demons can not harm us. We have eternal life with Jesus upon His return.

Q1. Jesus Is God in the Flesh
sweetpea replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 6. God Is Love (1 John 4:1-21)
It is critical that we believe that Jesus was God in the flesh because if we do, we will be saved and spend eternity with Him. Satan doesn't want us to believe that because there is a battle between good and evil and satan doesn't want anyone to believe in Jesus because he is evil. Jesus lived on earth without sin and satan does not want us to believe in Jesus because he wants to win the battle of good and evil. If there was no crucifiction, then there would be no way for us to be saved and satan would win the battle. In God's word, He says that Jesus won the final victory and that makes satan mad. He knows how much time he has left and he tries to get as many souls as he can. The significance for my Christian life is that I want more of Jesus and want to spend eternity with Him. In order for me to do that, I must be obedient to God through prayer, praise and fellowship with other Christians and spread the good news of the Gospel. -
Q4. Obedience and Answered Prayer
sweetpea replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 5. Love in Action (1 John 3:11-24)
Obedience to God means that if we love God, we will obey His commandments. We don't earn God's favor through obedience. God knows what is best for us and when He answers our prayer it is for our good. God loves us so much that if we love Him, He will give us the desires of our heart. -
Q3. Love for the Brothers
sweetpea replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 5. Love in Action (1 John 3:11-24)
Laying down your life for your brothers means that when we see someone in need, we should help them out in every way we possibly can. Be there for them when they are suffering emotionally, financially and physically. You can get involved in their lives by small groups, involvement in the church activities. -
Q2. Anger, Hatred, and Murder
sweetpea replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 5. Love in Action (1 John 3:11-24)
Anger can turn into hatred in our hearts when we dwell on it day and night, and when we don't repent of our anger. Anger turns into hate, and when that happens, the devil is there waiting to pounce and to encourage you to seek revenge. We can get rid of stored-up anger by repenting of our anger and praying for the one who has offended us. Jesus said , "Pray for those who persecute you". -
Q1. The Spirit of Murder
sweetpea replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 5. Love in Action (1 John 3:11-24)
Cain resented Abel because his offering to the Lord was acceptable and his was not. Cain was jealous of Able. Cain murdered Able because he was angry and gave into his sin. He hated Able because Able was good and he was evil. The world hates us because when Christians seed to live righteously, it exposes the sin and corruption of those not committed to Jesus. That causes shame, anger and hatred. -
Q5. Sin and Righteousness
sweetpea replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 4. Sin Is Lawlessness (1 John 2:28-3:10)
We need to know our enemy of the soul. We do that by learning from God's word and through prayer and meditation. The Holy Spirit helps us to know false teachers by their fruits. We need to verify each scripture that these teachers preach on. The false teachers were making out that some sins were not really that bad and God would not judge us for that. Meaning that some sins are okay and some are not -
Q4. God's Seed and Habitual Sin
sweetpea replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 4. Sin Is Lawlessness (1 John 2:28-3:10)
God's seed in us keeps us from habitual lawlessness and sin by giving us a conscious that says,"No, this is wrong and I can not do that anymore". The seed in us also makes us want to be obedient to His laws. The Holy Spirit changes us from the old guy to the new person that wants to be like Jesus -
Q3. Lawlessness
sweetpea replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 4. Sin Is Lawlessness (1 John 2:28-3:10)
Lawlessness show up in a person's attitude and actions through pride and jealousies, bad temper and such. When we do not repent and when we feel that what we are doing is not really 'that bad.' -
Q2. The Purifying Hope
sweetpea replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 4. Sin Is Lawlessness (1 John 2:28-3:10)
Our expectation of Christ's coming motivates me to purify myself from sin so that we are ready and watching for His coming. We want to spend eternity with Jesus and not be left behind. Our purifying ourselves from sin relates to God's grace in that by putting away all sin and walking with God by constant devotions and personal relationship with Jesus. Making sure that we get rid of all improper thoughts and deeds and being ready when He calls us home. -
Q1. Children of God
sweetpea replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 4. Sin Is Lawlessness (1 John 2:28-3:10)
We are children of God by the sense that before we accepted Jesus in our lives we were dead in sin. Once we accepted Jesus, He gave us life in Him The Holy Spirit gives us new birth by changing our lives from inside out and directing our path. The new birth changes us by making us want to do good and to draw closer to Jesus and try to live the way Jesus wants us to -
The Holy Spirit gives each one of us different gifts. The Holy Spirit directs our path in right and wrong. But the teachers in the church guide us in the right direction through the reading of the Word and encouraging and building up of the body of Christ. The annointing is a gift of discernment and sometimes prophecy. The gift of teaching is one of the Holy Spirits gifts to us.
