  1. The Commander, God Almighty, was not on either side because Joshua needed to be on God's side, not the other way around. Joshua was humbled to be in the Lord's presence and fell down to the ground to worship him. After his encounter with the Lord, Joshua had the confidence to carry out his plan knowing that the Lord would be with him.
  2. Whenever I think about God's perfection and power, I am amazed to realize that he loves and cares for me. It gives me comfort to know that God is, was and always will be, he is constant and we can depend on Him. I try to remember each day that I am a representative of God's love and mercy; that doesn't mean that I am always successful but it is the underlying goal in my life to conduct myself in a way that glorifies God.
  3. Both Abraham and Melchizedek believed that God or El Elyon was the sole creator of the universe (of heaven and earth); that God was the God most high. Both also understood and believed that it was God Most High that had delivered Abraham's enemies into his hands.
