Q1. Done with Sinning
Old Jerry replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #8. Serving God in Everything (4:1-11)
To keep “are yourselves with the same attitude” as Christ should keep us from sin because we will be trying to do the same things that Christ has done. We will not want any sin to enter our bodies because of what Christ suffered on the cross for us. We are talking about our spiritual attitude. -
Q4. Baptism as a Pledge
Old Jerry replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #7. Suffering with a Clear Conscience (3:8-22)
I have made a pledge of my faith in Jesus Christ and promised to serve him as a disciple. I made this pledge before I was baptized so therefore the baptism was to seal the pledge. -
Q3. Christ Died for Your Sins
Old Jerry replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #7. Suffering with a Clear Conscience (3:8-22)
The one that I pick is my reconciliation with God. There is nothing that I could do that make it possible to be reconciled to God yet I have been because of Jesus Christ. -
Q2. Gentle but Fearless Witness
Old Jerry replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #7. Suffering with a Clear Conscience (3:8-22)
When we are persecuted we feel that we have been abandoned by God so it hard to witness when we don’t feel that God isn’t with us. We are trying to get out of the persecution so our witnessing might just be excuses rather than witnessing. I think that the instruction that I need the most in my particular situation is to have a clear conscience. -
Q1. Harmony in the Church
Old Jerry replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #7. Suffering with a Clear Conscience (3:8-22)
The Church that I attend seems to have all those qualities. The one that might be most needed would be harmonious. We can change that if we would get together more often. -
Q4. Being Considerate
Old Jerry replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #6. Living as Christian Husbands and Wives (1 Peter 3:1-7)
The reason a husband should relate to his wife with knowledge and wisdom is because sometimes they are smarter than he is and he should be able to recognize that. They are equal to him spiritually and usually more sensitive to the calling of the Spirit. This demonstrates love in that you know that you can trust her in all things. Because she sees that you do trust her that means that the two of you will be able to use you special abilities together and get the most out of the marriage. I think that men and women sometimes try to dominate their spouses because they are insecure and they have to show them that they are better than they are. This tares the family apart and is against God’s nature. -
A person can cultivate inner beauty by obeying Jesus’ commands. To be pure and kind to others. I think one gains character the same way as inner beauty. True character is so important to God because it may bring somebody else to Him. A Christian woman can win and hang onto her husband because the husband knows that he can trust here.

Q1. Submission
Old Jerry replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #6. Living as Christian Husbands and Wives (1 Peter 3:1-7)
The reason that submission is so difficult is because we think that we have to be in control all the time. But by submitting is doesn’t mean that we have to agree with everything especially if we think it will improve the situation. We should never submit if it is against the biblical believes. -
The reason that sin still has power over us is because we are in the world and we can see what the world is doing. Sometimes that looks pretty good to us and we have to resist that temptation. When we resist temptation then we “die to sin”. To “live for righteousness” we are trying not to give in to our temptations. We are trying to follow Jesus.

Jesus’ being sinless is important to our salvation because God cannot stand sin. If Jesus had sinned then we would not have an intercessory that would able to speak up for us. Jesus suffered greatly when my sins were poured into his soul because God can’t stand sin so Jesus had to be separated from God for a while. The reason that this sinless Man could stand this kind of corruption is because He was God’s son.

By being “conscious of God” we know that we aren’t working for that employer we know we are working for God. This can make things much easier and we will still be able to give it our all. A conscientious Christian can complain once in a while it is just that they should not be complaining all the time. They might be able to point out something that isn’t right. In the mean time I would go out and look for another job but I would put up with what was going on until I had another job.
-
Submitting to our employers and respecting them is the same thing as doing a good job. Part of the job is to submit to them. It is dishonoring God when we don’t give it our full effort to the job because He expects to respect those around us. It would be like stealing if we didn’t give it our full effort and that is one of the 10 commandments is to not steal.

Q1. God's Glory
Old Jerry replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #4 Submitting and Suffering Like Jesus (1 Pet 2:13-23)
The way that God’s glory is dependent upon us living submissive, obedient lives is that when people see us and we are working hard and obeying the laws they will know that it was God inspired. If we lead a rebellious life then we will be like the rest of the world and we will fit in. -
Q4. Combatting Lies
Old Jerry replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3 Being God's Temple, Priesthood, and People (1 Pet 2:4-12)
We are to abstain from fleshly lusts because they are waging war against us. It reminds us that we are in a war zone and that we have to be diligent in what we are thinking and doing. -
Q2. Offering Praise
Old Jerry replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3 Being God's Temple, Priesthood, and People (1 Pet 2:4-12)
I should be praising God from the heart. -
Q1. Priesthood
Old Jerry replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3 Being God's Temple, Priesthood, and People (1 Pet 2:4-12)
The mindset of a priest toward God is being delighted in doing things for Him. He is delighted when we bring somebody to Him. So I am trying to please Him because it is all about Him and not me. -
Q3. Judgment and Gospel
Old Jerry replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #2 Living Holy Lives (1 Pet 1:13-2:3)
The reason that our culture is so upset when they sense they are being judged is that they think they are doing their best or they think they are doing the right thing. They don’t want to be criticized for the things that they are doing. God loves the world and everybody in it that is why the final judgment will happen. He doesn’t want those that don’t believe in him to have to suffer with those of us who do believe in him. The final judgment must be at the core of the Good News of Jesus Christ because look at what is happening in the world. Everybody is believing the god that they want and they kill all those who do not believe in their god. -
Holiness is being sanctified by Jesus. When we follow Jesus we are holy. I am only holy because of Jesus who died on the cross and was resurrected for me. We must be obedient to Jesus in order to become holy. My biggest struggle with holiness is not wandering into this world and wanting to get the things that this world has to offer.
