  1. The characteristics of the Antichrist that Paul gives in the passage is that he is going to proclaim himself a god and will rule the world. Revelation says that he will be given the power over the entire world and will have some great powers.
  2. They Thessalonians were confused on the coming of the Lord. Somebody had told them that he had already come and had used Paul’s name in doing so. But Paul told them that the Antichrist had to come before Christ would return.
  3. Christ’s glory is the light of the world this is to mean that we have peace with each other and we respect each other. This glory will be terrifying to unbelievers because they will know that they were the people that brought the problems into this world. Heaven involves sharing this glory forever because there will be no more pain nor death so if you were to be excluded from this glory there would be a lot of pain and destruction. The ways that the phrase “outer darkness” is helpful in description of hell is because in the dark you only go around in circles.
  4. According to verse 9 the kind of punishment that unbelievers will experience is everlasting destruction and will be shut out from the presence of the Lord. The parts of verse 9 that confirms that “hell” is “a place of eternal conscience punishment for the wicked” is the part that says with “everlasting destruction”. I think that the part of this definition that troubles me is the everlasting destruction. I don’t know why, if we have a loving and forgiving God that He would torment them so long. But I do know one thing and that we do have a just God and He has his reasons and it is to protect us.
  5. God would not be just if he did not punish sin. The difference between rehabilitation and retributions is that rehabilitation is trying to bring people back in to society as a useful member but retributions is making the person pay for the mistake that he made. A Christian’s rehabilitation takes place when they accept Jesus Christ as their savior and repent of their sins same as sinners when they repent. I think that forgiveness is one way to balance love and justice. I think that you should forgive the person but punish him for their crime.
  6. I think that persecution, pressure and stress help us grow strong in Christ because we are going to him more asking for help. We know that He is always there but when things are going great then we don’t talk to Him as much. We need to always be looking for way to get closer to Him. If we weren’t being tested in our faith then we would thing that we are good enough with the help of God.
  7. The only way that I know to assure a person of their salvations would be to reference the bible. There are plenty of places that we are assured of our salvation. There are also places that tell us that Christ has taken our sins and we can be made Holy before God because of him. I think that one of the problems of having no assurance of salvation is that we must not believe in the whole Bible because it is in there that we are saved if we believe in Jesus Christ. If we have a false assurance of salvation then we may not try to be reconciled to Jesus.
  8. I think that the reason that chur4ches sometimes despise or prohibit prophecy is because they don’t think that there are any more prophets. They may thing that the only prophecy that went on is already in the bible and there aren’t any prophets available. The guidelines that we are to follow are to weigh the prophecy given to the congregation against what the bible says. We are to meditate on it and make sure it is true.
  9. I think that a person can rejoice and pray continually when they ate truly thankful for the things that God has done for us. When we see something that is beautiful and give a quick thanks to God and when things are changing we can say a quick prayer asking for help.
  10. I think that a person can rejoice and pray continually when they ate truly thankful for the things that God has done for us. When we see something that is beautiful and give a quick thanks to God and when things are changing we can say a quick prayer asking for help.
  11. The thing that happens to people who seek revenge on those who hurt them is that they end up being hurt even more. They carry that burden with them at all times and the person that offended them doesn’t even know or maybe don’t care. So when we forgive those who have wronged us we are relieving ourselves from that burden of always carrying a grudge. An unloving and superior attitude towards outsiders will make it that the church will not grow. I don’t know of anybody that wants is be in such a cold congregation. If they drop their superior and unloving attitude when visitors come to the church they will be more willing to join that congregation.
  12. The thing that happens when a congregation doesn’t show respect for their leaders is that there is disarray and the word of God is neither preached nor is it understood. Then there will be fighting in the church and getting rid of the leader won’t fix the problem because of the deeper emotions that are going on.
  13. The effect on the belief that Christ’s soon coming has on believers is that they will always be diligent in learning about God. It will be having them keep the **** out of their houses and not listen to it or watch it. They will be “self-controlled” and not want to do the things that the world around them is doing. There for they can see what the world is doing and in doing so that keeps them “alert” and “watchful”. This is the normal Christian lifestyle.
  14. According to this passage we will get no warning prior to Chris’s return. The meaning of he will “come like a thief” is that when we least expect it he will be here calling his elect.
  15. Christ is bringing with Him all the believers who have previously died because they are already with Him and they will just follow Him here. According to Matthew and the angels will be with him also.
  16. The way that Daniel’s prophecy of the Son of Man outlines Christ’s return is that he saw the son of man coming out of the cloud. Therefore Jesus used the title of “Son of Man” because He was well aware of the prophecy of Daniel and He knew that he was the person.
  17. I think that Paul mentions such severe punishments for sexual immorality because it is sin against the body. And the body is too used for holy purposes. I don’t think that these punishments are more severe than for other sins. The effects that these warnings have on a Christian is to keep you body pure for the Lord. After all we are going to be his bride.
  18. I think that humans are actually capable of controlling their sexual urges. So many people are seemingly out of control because they choose not to. It is important to control ourselves sexually within marriage because we are to show that person that they are the only one that we love that way. When sexuality does not have any boundaries as we have in the United States today, then we have all kinds of immoral activities going on. Our marriage, children, spirits and our bodies are all destroyed by such acts.
  19. Sanctified means that we have been set aside for doing God’s work here on earth. We are holy now because we belong to Jesus and we have the Holy Spirit in us. We are in the process of becoming “holy” because we are still reading the bible and finding out new truths. Sexuality deals with our bodies and we are to keep our bodies holy.
  20. We know that conducting our lives according to rules is that there aren’t enough rules in order to have a moral community. Just look at us today, we have a lot of rules but our morals are in the gutter. Now if we conduct our lives trying to please God then we can look into the Bible and see what pleases God and we don’t need all the rules and regulation because we are doing it in love. Therefore love is stronger than rule-keeping. Paul brings these commands with God’s authority.
  21. The value of a special speaker to a congregation is that you get to hear the same things that you have been hearing but put to you in a differ style. Maybe it is a style that you can understand better. Sometimes they bring out things that you hadn’t ever thought of.
  22. The way that persecution discourages Christians from active open service is that they feel intimidated and we don’t like that. When that happens we start being more closed about our religion. It can mature them because when they get use to that intimidation then they will go ahead and talk about their Jesus. If we stop taking to others about Jesus because of the persecution then maybe we didn’t have our hearts in the right place. God allows tempters the ability to tempt us so that we will grow in our belief. He will do away with Satan when the time comes it just hasn’t come yet.
  23. Timothy’s role to be a strengthener and encourager was so important because this was a new church and the person that started the church couldn’t return and they needed all the encouragement that they could get in order to continue on. It was a sensitive role because he needed to listen to the problems that they were having and be compassionate toward their needs. Since timothy was young this also helped Timothy mature and Paul also gave him the confidante that he needed to be their pastor. Delegating ministry helps the overall enterprise of the Kingdom by letting more people get involved and they have some good ideas also. They can also help spread the word of God.
  24. It is true that our salvation is locked in and we had nothing to do with it except to believe, but I don’t understand what all goes on in heaven when Paul talks about rewards in heaven. There must be something that we have to work for here on earth if order to get that reward. I can’t think of anything better than going to heaven for eternity but there must be something happening there that I don’t understand. Showing accountability to the Master brings us pleasure because we will be able to show Him what we have been doing for Him, even though He already knows. It motivates us because we want Him to call us his “good and faithful servant”.
  25. We are to be reading the Word of God so that it always molding our lives. That is the ultimate authority to all things on this earth. It changes a person’s personality and their attitude on life. The Word of God can change the whole world if we would just believe in it and be praying that the world would be called to God.
