  1. According to Ephesians 2:10 we were created to do good works which God had prepared in advance for us to do. This was done to fulfill our destiny here on earth. The difference between these works and the works Paul discredits in verse 9 is that these works help others and happens after we accept the grace of God.
  2. “Saved” can be translated to say that the person has been rescued from way of this world and will be following Jesus Christ. Since they are following Jesus then they will have a room provided for them in Heaven.
  3. I think that it is so hard to understand grace because it is out of our control. We think we have to control everything. It may be because we are selfish and we can’t understand anybody that gives us something for doing nothing. We probably wouldn’t do that so why would somebody do that for us. To translate the word “grace” into a language of a 10-year-old child would be telling them that they deserved punishment but you have forgiven them and they would be punished.
  4. The meaning of being seated with Christ in “the heavenly realms” is that we have Christ on our side. We can do all that He asks us to and we can defeat the evils of this world because of Jesus Christ. This also says that God’s grace is abounded. He has forgiven us our sins and we can overcome. This also means that our spiritual authority is above all authority on earth. This knowledge should affect our prayers and our boldness because we know that all things have been overcome and we can ask anything in Jesus’ name and it will be given to us.
  5. The words that describe God’s motivation is His great love and the character that is displayed is He is rich in mercy. The verbs that describe what has happened to us in Christ are the words grace and saved.
  6. People can unwittingly follow Satan when they don’t do the things that God has put on their hearts to do. We are on this earth and the Devil knows that this is his place and he can put things in our minds and our hearts to follow him. But with the help of God we can be wise to these things but still we sometime unwittingly follow the ways of Satan. But we are the ones that are making the decision because we have the free will and it is our fault. God could have made us robots and then He would control our very movements but he chose to give us a free will.
  7. The sense that are non-believing friends, neighbors and relatives are “dead” is that when they die they will not go to heaven. The difference between us and them is that we know that when we die we have a great place to go to. We are not of this world but of the Kingdom. They are of this world and when their life comes to an end they will be with the Evil One. I believe that they are “dead” and subject to God’s “wrath” and I should go out and try to show then the way to my God so that they can also be saved and go to heaven.
  8. When we neglect to be an active part of the local congregation the particular blessings that we miss out on is the fullness of fills everything in every way. When I am absent from church the blessing that I withhold from others is that of being able to tell other what God has done for me recently.
  9. I think that we take a “pass” when it comes to spiritual warfare because it is something that we cannot see. We don’t think that there is anything that we can do about it. Christ’s exaltation, demonstration of complete victory, and superior rank over all spiritual powers was important enough for Paul to mention it to his readers because it is a force that must be dealt with. Only Christ is the one that can do that. Again I think that we feel powerless in the face of spiritual enemies because it is something that we cannot see or touch or feel. Paul was assuring the Ephesians that that force has been taken care of by our Lord Jesus Christ. He has concord all things and that encourages us to go out and tell everybody about the Good News.
  10. I think that we are powerless sometimes because we don’t have the faith that we need. Because the inadequacy is with our faith. I think that some congregations and movements produce disciples that have miracle-believing faith because the pastor has empowered them to know that they have this type of faith. It also requires us to read the bible and believe in what it is telling us.
  11. If I knew that I was going to inherit $10 million I don’t think that it would change my life style much. The only thing that I would probably do is make decisions on how I was going to spend it. My expectation of the inheritance in God’s presence does temper my present-day concerns. I have something to look forward to that will last an eternity. Therefore I am going to do what God wants me to so I can please Him. Since this inheritance is going to be with the saint it should always be good to be fellowshipping with them.
  12. The greatest thing that we Christians have to look forward to is the resurrection. This hope should be a major motivation in our present-day lives because we know that we have been forgiven for our sins and nobody can take away our hope. This hope should affect our decision and our lifestyles is that fact that we are trying to please the one that we love and therefore we should be doing things that will please Him. In our great hope we know that in time it will be fulfilled where the non-believer has only the grave to look forward to.
  13. I think that the “end of term” is when we have been before the judgment seat and been forgiven for our sins and we have been accepted into heaven. I think that these analogies help explain how the Holy Spirit function in our lives because of the down-payment God has invested in my life and the Holy Spirit is there to protect his investment.
  14. God’s purpose for our lives to bring praise to him. We need to know the bible so we can get to know what really pleases him so that his name will be praised. Matthew 5:13-16 is saying the exact same thing it is just using different work.
  15. The significance of all things being brought under one head – Christ himself is that we know that everything that we had been following is now under Christ. The law is now under Christ along with all the holidays. This relates to the creator because we know that Jesus was fully God and fully man and now everything has been brought under Him. This says that with this unity we should all be united. This verse relates perfectly with 1 Corinthians because they are using a different analogue it is still saying the same thing.
  16. The sense that I have been “redeemed” from slavery is that I know that I don’t have Satan pointing at my history and saying that I can’t talk about this or that because I also had done that sin. Now I am free to tell other about my past sins. I think my life up to now would be a lot worse off than it is now. I would be guilt ridden and probably depressed because there would be no future for me. Without redemption all I would be facing is the fire of hell.
  17. I think that adoption is particularly an apt illustration of God’s relationship with us because who could love us if we weren’t his son or daughter. We do some of the dumbest things and only a parent could continue to love us. The concept of adoption is encouraging to me because I know that I can always go to him when I need help or to be forgiven. Only God is able to that for me.
  19. The meaning of being “holy” is that God has cleansed us and forgiven us for our sins. He has accepted us the way that we are but has washed us in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore we can stand “blameless” before God because Jesus has covered our sins.
  20. I can’t think of anything that scary about predestination unless it is that I don’t have to control of my life as I thought I had. The thing that is comforting about predestination is that I know that thing is going to work out in God’s way. Therefore I will have the best that there is to offer. I think that he is praising God for it in the “hearing” of the Ephesians because God has accepted them into the kingdom if they will follow Jesus.
  21. The meaning to me to be “in Christ” means I have the Holy Spirit in me. I know that I have got the hope to live in this world because I know that this is not the end of all things. I can look forward to a life with Christ. The implications of this for my life is that I know that God loves me and forgives me.
  22. The role of finding and bring back the wandering sheep is so important is because if the person dies without believing in Jesus Christ they will be condemned to hell. And from what I have read about hell that is not a pleasant place. God has done everything that he can to bring us to the Kingdom of Heaven all we have to do is follow what Jesus has told and taught us.
  23. In the healing prayer, the role of the oil is to bring faith to the person that is being prayed over by applying the oil. The role of the prayer of faith is that he does have faith. He is the one asking for intercession from God to heal that person. The role of the confession of sins is to get the person to see his sins so that they can be prayed for.
  24. The elders’ role in prayer for the sick is to be the one that really believes that the prayer that he is saying is going to heal that sick person. Because the spiritual qualifications for the ministry of prayer is that of one that truly believes what he is prayer about.
  25. According to verse 14 it is the person who is sick that is to call the elders so that they can pray over them. This is important because the person who is sick needs to have faith also. The person that is praying must have faith also because is they are the one that is doing the praying.
