Because we know how terrible the price that was paid by Jesus for our sins we ought let go of our sinful nature and walk with Him in the light. But, we are only human and we know we will sin again but we are assured that Jesus will speak for us to the Father and intercede for us when we fall and fail.

I don't think that we need to "confess" our sins God already know what we've done and what we are doing. We need to acknowledge them to ourselves and acknowledg the fact to God that we know we have done wrong. Confessing is for us to admit to ourselves...and ready ourselves for forgivness from God. See Psalm 19:12. Cleansing is Gods way of telling us that He knows whats coming and we are cleansed even from the sins we have not and even know not that we will commitin the future. We still need to confess but we are "cleansed" and are children of God.

True Christians I don't think can truly walk in darkness. They know that they are doing wrong and have not accepted yet the tru meaning of who Christ is and who God is completely. They are still trying to "find" their way and want to do as they might without regard for "truth or light". We all sin every day, we can't help it. We are only human. But when we sin and acknowledge it and repent and are truly sorry we are forgiven and are in the light once more. Also we acknowledge that Christ is Lord and GOd is the Father of all humanity and we walk in His light and the light of Christ.

For me it is being totally honest. I find that sharing my inner most thoughts with others is very diffiult except with Christ who already knows the deepest parts of who I am and what I do and what I believe. Sharing this kind of intimacy with another person is too hard. Even with another believer. Confidences can be broken and people in the flesh are not totally trustworthy regardless of what they may promise or how Christ like they may profess to be. Believing in one totally is not where I can be found today.
