  1. Worship is only given to God. Worship must be given dya and night (continually). He is the creator of all things so all things must worship Him. He lives forever so will be worshipped forever. The previous may show that we are seated at the right hand of the Father but when it comes to worship we fall down before Him. Jesus purchased us with His blood. These are in addition the excellent lists that have been posted before.
  2. As with PressThrough I was also shown as a guest so have posted my reply again Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord. Thou art worthy. Worthy of honour and worthy of glory.
  3. If we are to believe all that we read and hear in the media then much of the political and business practices in the world is corrupt. There is an economy of truth, little regard for neighbour, a loan system which keeps people poor while making the business world rich, a political system, whether on the right or left, which knowingly promises more than can be delivered once having got the votes. Even so-called Christian governments in so-called Christian countries allow such things as abortion on demand, easy divorce, same-sex partnerships etc. All these things are destructive because they are opposite to the teaching of the Bible. It seems to me that there is nothing new under the sun and the same struggles in the days of Revelation are apparent today.
  4. Loosening of sexual standards are destructive of vital Christian faith because it goes against the direct teaching the Bible not to enter into fornication and adultery. Throughout the Old and New Testaments the people of God are encouraged to remain sexually clean and when married remain faithful to the spouses. It seems that, along with finances, immorality is the thing used by the devil to bring down the testimony of Christians. Non-Christians, who may practise the prevailing morals of the culture set a higher standard for Christians than we sometimes set for ourselves and will quickly point the finger when we fall. The media has painted Christians as joyless, rigid, party-spoilers and I think this has taken the edge off the witness of the church and individuals so as not appear to be like that.
  5. Why would loosening of sexual standards to conform to the prevailing morals of the culture be destructive of vital Christian faith and witness? How has your culture tended to take the edge off your own Christian moral convictions or forced you to be quiet about them? An important message of the Bible is faithfulness. Jesus is faith forever to His Church and does not lower His standards to accommodate anything outside the Christian faith. My own culture has changed in the last few years. Whereas at one time there was modesty in public, it now seems anything goes and, of course, any one objecting to this is considered old fashioned and out of touch.
  6. Congregations lose their first love when they do everything because they have always done it. There is no effort to win the lost and there is a belief that people should come to church because it is there. Worship becomes a mere repetition of the current favourite songs and ministry becomes a homily on social events. Genuine love for Jesus shows when people are able to praise and worship Him whether they have music or not, praise and worship becoming a lifestyle rather than something done on Sunday morning. There is a love for the Bible and a desire to live it out. Congregations who have lost there first love need to repent, seek God until they as individuals as well as the church are revived
  7. The Lamp stands are the churches. Jesus walking among them shows that He keeps His promise never to leave us or forsake us. The Bible tells us that the Church is His bride and He is shown as faithful to her. The Church should show the same faithfulness to the Bridegroom remaining faithful at all times to Him and His word.
  8. In what countries are Christians presently experiencing tribulation or persecution for the faith? How can the Book of Revelation be a comfort and encouragement to them? All countries in all continents suffer persecution but not all of it physical. Physical persecution appears mostly in eastern countries and derision is seen mostly in the west. The Book of Revelation is a comfort to all in that Jesus has shown that glory follows sufferings. This is depicted as early as the Book of Exodus when the Israelites experienced the Promised Land after the Egyptian persecution and wilderness experience.
  9. What does 1:8 tell us about the Father? The Father is the speaker here in 1:8 and in 21:6. But Jesus is the speaker in 1:17 and 22:12-13. What is the significance of this for our understanding of who Jesus is? Rev 1:8 and 21:6 God describes Himself as being eternal. In 1:17 and 22:12-13 Jesus also describes Himself as being eternal. This gives us to understand that the Father and the Son have the same attributes and, therefore, both are God.
  10. Revelation is written to encourage and strengthen a church facing intense persecution. Why is the theme of testimony and witness so important to that purpose? How is Jesus as the "faithful witness" (1:5) supposed to encourage us? Why are we afraid to be clear witnesses in a culture where we aren't persecuted? Testimony and witness is important because it encourages us to believe for the same delivering experiences as those who have already gone through persecution. Even if it means martyrdom we are encouraged in the knowledge that there is a reward awaiting those so persecuted. Jesus is the supreme example of glory after persecution. Persecution is relative. Where physical forms of persecution are not known, to be laughed at is persecution enough for some. Sadly, it seems that derision is found most in so-called Christian countries.
