Q9. Discrimination
saltylight replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 3. Forsaking Favoritism for Love (James 2:1-13)
I too , honestly don't fall into a judgement catagory (unless I have some God has not shown me yet...very possible)........have I in the past ???? you bet. I am the women who the bible says much was forgiven her and she fell in full surrender and thanksgiving. I was also judged by others most of my adolesent life, very harshly. It makes it hard to even feel worthy enough to judge others when you have been harshly judged for an extended period of time much less really knowing the hurt that comes with it. I believe I was a lot harder on my husband until God showed me a very important thing. God works on each of us individualy and deals with others on a time scheme that He creates. If we apply this to our lives it makes it a little easier. If we accepted Jesus Christ and all of a sudden we were expected to change all of our issues immediately their probobly would not be very many christians. That would not be cool we would all freak straight out. It is the word of God that brings about change but just as the normal growth pattern of a human so is our spiritual growth. Both dependant on "Manna". Just like well lets say when you were 8 you used to pick your nose. When you are 30 I am sure most people have learned that that is a pretty nasty habit and not in their best interest. I work to impress God and no man -
Q5. Life in the Word
saltylight replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Hearing and Practicing the Word (James 1:18-27)
In Hebrews it states that the word is living and is a discerner of all things. When we begin to see Christ within ourselves ..... this is spiritual life. It changes every decision you make it changes you and births within you a hunger for more of the life. It is life and is ever growing. Proof.... ha ha this is the only book to be around for centuries and is still the Best Seller. It lives within us. You know it is life because you feel it -
Q6. Self-Deceit
saltylight replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Hearing and Practicing the Word (James 1:18-27)
One of the best statements I believe says it all......................... Deception would not be deception unless it was decieving. You have no idea you are being decieved. -
Q8. True Religion
saltylight replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Hearing and Practicing the Word (James 1:18-27)
from out of the mouth the heart speaks. You can worship with your mouth and not your heart. You can have quiet time and not press into God for deeper understanding. You can never control what is in you from coming out of your mouth. -
Q3. Doublemindedness
saltylight replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Experiencing Joy in Trials (James 1:1-18)
Trials force us to make a solid choice.... hopefully an educated one ha ha. If your flying in a plane and it is going down you have to choose an action... Do you jump??? or Do you stay and pray???? Do you choose Fear????? or Faith?????? You see When we choose to ...let's say stay and pray and the plane makes a safe emergency landing then you get to physically see the results of your belief in God you have now proved it and this is easier for you to "get" -
Q2. Blaming God
saltylight replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Experiencing Joy in Trials (James 1:1-18)
Q2. (1:13-15) Why do people blame God for evil? This answer hurts. People blame God, I believe, because if they can find anything else to "point the finger" other than their own actions then they don't have to deal with their own shortcomings. (PRIDE) Does God tempt us with evil? No!!!! All temptation is from the Enemy. Never, it would be contradicting. God has spent much energy trying to save us. As a parent would you ever encourage your child to fail??? No way. Jesus is the physician not the torturer. Why does he allow people to sin? Why does he allow evil to exist at all? In Genesis God clearley gave man dominion over all the earth(Gen 1:26)...... free will. If God took it back it would mean He lied which is immpossible, God can not lie (Titus 1:2). Adam was told to subdue it- the earth (Gen 1:28), bottom line Adam was disobediant and did not subdue it. I guess you could say Adam was an enabler..... Ha ha. There is nothing new!!!! Man gave evil the power to grow into what it is now. God rebuked the proud angel (Devil) basically by casting him out of Heaven. So God did not allow it, man encouraged it. -
Q1. Value of Trials
saltylight replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Experiencing Joy in Trials (James 1:1-18)
Well.... hmm I truly do count my trials towards my growth. I am an overcomer and can do all things through Christ. My most significant was a hole ( appeared as a pimple initially ) in my face. Positioned directly between my eyes. Ha ha. Nope not a joke, about the size of a nickel or so. Went to 4 different doctors and was undiagnosed. Well this pushed me to develop in the area of divine healing and so I chose to move forward instead of accepting the situation. Just as the woman with an issue of blood I wasted my resources on man and the I finally gave it to God and asked him and he restored me. This I could not hide it was very visible to all. This was my calling card per say for judgement from others based upon my appearance. Rough yes. But the devil is a liar, praise God. What man could not get rid of or diagnose for a year God had healed completely within a week. I chose to move on and move up. During that time I actually obtained insane favor from God in my life and was offered a position in management. Imagine that .... the devil told me how ugly and alienated I was and God stepped up and proved him a liar by promoting me when I was least. -
Q1. Value of Trials
saltylight replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Experiencing Joy in Trials (James 1:1-18)
I love trials... sound crazy? probobly. I have many trials but I get the fact that we can NOT go forward and go upward without them. Trials are painful but where there is a God purpose the enemy will attempt to steal, kill and destroy and yes I am an overcomer as well using trials as an opportunity to prove myself to my daddy in the sky. Proven I want to be. I want to be perfected in Jesus Christ and I understand God's thoughts and ways are above ours. He takes every trial and turns it for good building us in Fruits of the spirit. My trials are nothing compared to the trials of Paul and Jesus or Moses. I live in unexplainable peace, THANK YOU FATHER. My encouragement from God, What is man that we should consider and take to heart his ways or be consumed by his opinions? I don't live by man's law but God's. There is but one judge -

Okay so I am inspired to comment on the whole " faith" and "Works". This actually will be fun to look at in the ending to see if my perception or as the Bible would say Eye has changed. I have done personal studies (just me and God and the book of James) and I believe James is giving the bluntness of true faith. You see only if your faith is genuine ( down in your spirit )can God bless you. Do your actions reflect your faith? For example ( simple but effective) I believe deep down in my spirit that God has sent His angels to take charge, they protect me and my family. So truly believing this I don't lock doors, I don't freak out about seatbelts (on myself). I never really even had it cross my mind that I did it but it crossed others minds(This was actually brought to my attention by others). It drove others nuts but I didn't even realize it. This is an illustration that I believe will give an clearer picture. You see the truth was it me and my actions reflected it but my actions were not purposed by what I thought could prove my faith but by the faith that was birthed within myself. I have not had any issues with missing stuff and have had a couple situations where the protection of the angels was appearant to all. When we live now in a society that claims faith and yet they have no works or their actions do not reflect their trust in God. They don't truly believe His words in their spirit, they may believe in their mind but not their spirit. -
