  1. Calling upon the name of the Lord is to enjoy the rich presence of His divine Person. Psalms88:9 mentions our daily calling upon the Lord. Call upon the name of Yahweh with a pure heart. Calling upon Yahweh indicates one's allegiance and worship. John9:31 says "God doesn't listen to evil men, but he has open ears to those who worship Him and do His will." Follow the Bible and not your own thinking. Remember that "calling on" means more than simply making a request. Go in and get involved. Calling on Yahweh identifies the caller as a believer of God.
  2. Faith is not credulity, but the reliability of God's Word and the accurate fulfillment of its prophecies install confidence in the realization of ALL of His promises. We now live in an age when people want results immediately. It does take a special faith to wait on results, wondering if the choices we have made were pleasing to God. Faith is not the possession of all persons,as it is a fruit of God's spirit 2Th3:2; Ga5:22. Each new day is an opportunity to have faith and prove it by what we say and do. I certainly try to keep this in mind. Yes I am in the midst of this adventure now. Are we all hoping to be in good standing at the second coming of Jesus? Of course we are, that is why I read the examples of people in the Bible who had faith.
  3. In Abraham's time, the city of Ur was steeped in Babylonis idolatry, nevertheless,Abraham proved to be a man of faith in God. He earned the reputation "the father of all those having faith while in uncircumcision" Romans 4:11 Since true faith is based on accurate knowledge, Abraham may have received his understanding by personal association with Shem. Their lives overlapped by 150 years. There is no way Abraham would have been involved in idolatry and the worship of the moon-god Sin.
  4. Even though Abraham was not Terah's first born, Abraham is listed first among his father's sons. This is because of his outstanding faithfulness and prominence in the Scriptures. A son born to Sarah and Abraham in their old age was certainly a blessing. Abraham was blessed spiritually and materially. All the people of the earth have been blessed through Jesus Christ who gave His life as a ransome for many Matthew 20:28. Blessings come to us by putting faith in Jesus Christ. Abraham backed up his faith by righteous works James2:21-23. We should do the same.
  5. I can not count the times that I have started to study but for different reasons I stop. I pray to God that He blesses my effort and that I apply what I learn in my daily life. I am always so much happier when God is in my life.
