Our independence is quite a modern way of thinking. We no longer live in tightknit communities and therefore don't rely on those around us or support those around us. We are raised to be independent - not interdependent-relying on and supporting others. To be truly dependent on God is to be surrended to him - when we act independently of God we are sinning but we do so in areas not yet fully surrended. God is the source of all good things - all that we have, all that we are comes from him (the good bits that is)

Hi, My name is Melissa and I live in a small town in NZ. I am very late to this study but enjoying reading the comments from others. I am a busy mum with two preschoolers, leading a women's bible study and teaching 3-4 year olds at Children's church. God has been challenging me to study his word more indepth this year so I see this as a step forward in that direction, God bless you all, Mel
