  1. We must continually ask forgiveness as it keeps us in humility. Moreover our presumptious sins obsure the Lord's blessings. Forgiveness clears the path. The path of healthy soul, spirit and even body is forgiveness. The measure we use is the measure we get. if we forgive only little, God would forgive us only a little because that is what we are asking God to do. Unforgiveness is enslaving. We are slaves of that which we hold onto. forgiveness is not easy. However forgiveness is essential. Unforgiveness blocks blessings and also curtails the Lord's hand from forgiving us.
  2. Too often pride creeps in. Ego and Will-worship takes us far away from humility. we fail to recognize that it is God who has breathed the breath of life in our nostrils. Independence or rather, self-dependence, is taught and emphasized right from a young age. When these needs are met, man now begins to rely more and more on himself than on the 'giver of all good gifts'. Total reliance on God, even for the smallest of things, or things that seem so trivial or silly, actually shows deep reliance on the only provider. Abiding comes with obedience. we do not seek from God because of fear that we might lose our independence; fear that this would entail obedience and loss of freedom keeps us from asking God. 'What is God tells me to do something that i am not comfortable with?' is a sceptics question. False Ego and pride are other reasons. Ignorance and unbelief are also reasons. Asking God to give, even when we can earn, keeps us humble. we realize that 'apart from Christ we can do nothing.' We need to continually abide in him to be able to bear fruit, be it spritual or be it physical. Asing God is acknowleding that He alone is Jehovah Jireh.
  3. We are asking the Father to bring in his kingdom with power and with all glory over us and over this world. We are crying out "Father, may your righteousness be established and be the benchmark here and now" We want the Father's will to be done because his will is infinitely better than ours. God designed everything and the best person to run the universe is God himself. nobody can do a better job. moreover, the Father's kingdom is based on love and oneness. We are ambassador's of Christ. we are citizens of heaven. hence we must live upright. our walk of faith must reflect heaven's glory. we must start operating on kingdom principles.
  4. Our Christain walk either brings glory or reproach to the name of our Lord. The Bible says in Mt 5:16 Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. (ASV). We can let every decision, every step, every action either glorify Our father in heaven or bring disgrace to Him and also to other Christians. We can desecrate the name of our Holy God by living unholy lives. Also our words can bring grief to our father. Using swearwords, using the lord's name in vain, whenever our speech is not becoming of upright and redeemed children of God, we bring disgrace to God. We must begin "Hallowing" the name of the father by Praising him for who he is and for what he has done. We quote the various names and titles of God to Adore and Worship Him. This brings Glory to his name in prayer. Also thanksgiving and testimonies bring Honor to our heavenly father. We must be careful that the words of our mouth and the meditation of our hearts are pleasing in his sight.
