  1. That He would put His Spirit upon us. To all believers at that time.
  2. That the Holy Spirit would come upon Messiah and that He would be able to walk with wisdom, power, strength, healing, mercy All through Jesus Christ and during his ministry on earth.
  3. The Holy Spirit enabled the 70 elders to lead the people. First it enabled them to prophesy and then gifted them to lead the people in justice. He wished that all God's people would receive the Holy Spirit. That is the big difference in living for yourself & living for God. Think of how that same reliance on Jesus would affect Christians today! Oh, yes! We are, as Christians, indwelt with the Holy Spirit today!!
  4. Given the Spirit to complete a particular God-led task for God. Acted in the Spirit according to what God wanted.
  5. They have already had experiences and might be given discernment to help you in your new experience. Spiritual mentors should be in our lives. I had them throughout my growing-up (in the Lord) years. I would bounce ideas off them and they in their godly wisdom showed me the right way. I praise God for each of them and their contribution to my spiritual life. Sounds like they are not growing at all. They're leaning on another's spiritual life. The more we learn, the more we put in practice all the more growing! We may outgrow our mentors, but they keep growing too!!! Praise God!
  6. Surrender is the best way. We need to tell God we want to do His will and to seek His leading. Your will, God, not mine. We end up operating in our own strength for our desires. We don't want anything to separate us from our relationship to God. We just add to our sin if we keep going. He's not going to speak to us to lead us if we are holding on to sin. It's a distortion at the least. step by step--if sin is held onto--you've skipped a step.
  7. Meet my need or I want this. Everyone's doing it! You won't die. Try this it tastes great! You don't want to be the only one NOT doing this. Think how respected you'll be! You'll feel wonderful. The Bible shows us the mind of God--He'll speak through it and lead us on right paths. It can help us discern what is motivating us.
  8. It is always part of the learning process. It needs to be backed up by the Bible. Our mistakes are lessons God lets us learn in order for us to have a deeper relationship with Him and be able to discern.
  9. Gideon was unsure and needed confirmation. Gideon was honestly seeking confirmation from God re: the battle, "testing God" is demanding that God prove Himself--because of their disbelief. No, He is ok with confirmation. Most times however, they are confirmations in a small way. God knows the hearts of those who are seeking to enlarge themselves--coming from unbelief.
  10. If we have pride, it steals the glory God should be getting. He isn't going to be leading us--our pride is saying we want to do it ourselves. We need to be humble--knowing how great & awesome our God is. He alone knows the answers & how He wants to lead us. We want to be instruments in his hand, to use us as He will.
  11. A willingness to obey without understanding is trust in God. His ways are not our ways and He can see the whole picture--we just see a small portion of it. We can see by the results of our obedience. But we may not even understand then, it is simply trust in God's plans & not my own.
  12. God's leading for us is a result of the relationship we have with Him. It shows how much He loves us and trusts us to hear-listen -and obey. we hunger for a deeper relationship with the Lord. We read the Bible to grow, know His will and to obey what He tells us there. Paul encourages us every step of the way--even if the steps lead to persecution. I want to grow. I want to draw ever closer to Him.
  13. Eli's counsel was very good--to acknowledge that he was God's servant and was listening. I think Eli recognized it probably was the Lord because he used to be listening too. It humbled him and prepared him to receive what God had to say.
  14. It could be we are out of fellowship with Him or there is growth going on in us preparing us for what He has for us. No it is not always our receptivity Sometimes it's just not about us...... Continue to trust Him, be in the Word and saturate yourself. Continue in prayer. He doesn't give us info before we need it.
  15. The nudges that contain insights are discernment. You ask God how to proceed--when & where. I'm sure I have, but cannot remember. It's an encouragement to stay close to God and be open to Him as He speaks--in whatever way He chooses.
