  1. In what sense was the Kingdom of God present in the Person and ministry of Jesus? The Kingdom of God was present in Jesus himself when he came on earth in flesh and its presence had already been begun since Jesus taught, gathered disciples, and exercised God's authority on earth In what sense is the Kingdom of God present today? The Kingdom of God is present now in the Person of Jesus, who lives now and forever. It is present forever in the Person of Jesus
  2. Why is continual asking, seeking, and knocking so essential to our looking forward to the Kingdom? Because doing them continually it shows that we seriously depend on him to meet our needs, that we seriously ask him for a thing, and that we seriously trust him Why do we give up so easily? Because we are lazy to pray, we do not have confidence that God will answer our prayer How do we gain boldness and persistence in prayer? We have to know rightly who we, those who believe in him, are before God, and who he is, and then we have to believe God will meet his promises
  3. Why is repentance so central to the Kingdom of God? Because it is the rule of the Kingdom of God for those who want to enter the Kingdom of God, and through it we acknowledge that Jesus is the King of the Kingdom of God whom we must obey, and through it Jesus will reign in our heart Why is baptism important to converts to the King? Because it is a moment in which they affirm publicly that they repent of their sins and acknowledge Jesus' power and authority over them Can Christ reign in an unrepentant heart? No, because one who has an unrepentant heart refuses to make Jesus be a king in his/her lives
  4. What happens when people adopt the Christian faith without repent of their known sins? Their faith is dead (James 2:26), the Holy Spirit will not abide in them, and they will not inherit the Kingdom of God (Galatian 5:21) Why do people avoid repentance? Because they more love this world or themselves than God What percentage of Christians today do you think are unrepentant, unprepared in heart? They are more than 50%, they are more than Christians who have repentant heart
  5. What character flaws does Diotrephes exhibit? First, he is self-centered; second, he is proud of himself, he does not want to humble himself; third, he is domineering and controlling, and fourth, he is a slanderer Can a person be a strong pastoral leader without developing these traits? Yes, he/she can, if he/she wants to be controlled by the Holy Spirit. If you have tendencies in yourself towards pride and a controlling spirit, how can you fight against them? I have to learn to humble myself by the help of the Holy Spirit
  6. What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry? First, they go forth deliberately to serve Christ; second, they go out in the name of Jesus, third, they don
  7. Why does the Apostle John tell his readers to refuse hospitality to the false teachers? It is because the false teachers are very dangerous. They are antichrists and deceivers. If we show hospitality to them, we will give them chances to spread their teachings to us. What would refusing hospitality mean for a congregation (as opposed to an individual)? It would means not inviting the false teachers to the assembly and letting them to speak in it What is the border between tolerance and stupidity, when it comes to false teachers? In relation to false teacher, tolerance and stupidity is the same. We should not be tolerant at all to them. We will be in stupidity if we give him cordial greetings, encouragement, chances to say their faith or teaching to us. Do the divisions of denominationalism find justification in this verse? Why or why not? No, because they are usually not caused by the difference of the faith in Christ, of how to consider Christ Jesus as the Son of, our Lord, and our Savior, but by the differences of ways to worship him, what is allowed to eaten or not according to the Bible, etc, which by those all we will be closer to God. God see our heart and our faith, not the method and tool we use. Sometimes, the new denomination is introduced by a leader because of the pride of the leader
  8. What is the danger of "running ahead" of Christ's teachings to "deeper truths"? "Running ahead" of Christ's teachings to "deeper truths" can cause not continuing in teaching of Christ. If anyone has this condition, as stated in 2 John 9, he/she will not have God, or he/she will not have eternal life What is the danger of "running ahead" of Christ's guidance for our lives? We will go towards the condition of not continuing in teaching of Christ. If we have this condition, we will not have eternal life in Christ What does it mean to "abide" or "continue" in Christ and his teachings? It means that we keep holding our faith in Christ, and living out our lives in conformity with the Word of God, Jesus
  9. Why does John exhort his "children" to "keep yourselves from idols"? John wants us to not let anything false or unworthy take the place of our true faith in God What idols distract us from the true God? So many things, such as our job, family, hobby, money, etc. What idols compete with God for attention in your life? My self-esteem
