Q1. (2 John 9) Q. What is the danger of "running ahead" of Christ's teachings to "deeper truths"? What is the danger of "running ahead" of Christ's guidance for our lives? A. We are supposed to stay with the truth of the true gospel about the Lord Jesus and His divinity. When people run ahead, the deviate from the truth like the false teachers did and still do. They deceive the vulnerable hearers astray. What does it mean to "abide" or "continue" in Christ and his teachings? Why is this so important? A. To abide and continue in Christ is to continue to believe in Christ and His teaching and to continue to obey what He says.

John needed to warn the church against the sin of idolatry because they would be substituting God with such idols, a sin similar to that being committed by the false teachers Q. What idols distract us from the true God? What idols compete with God for attention in your life? A. TV, media, money, our jobs or family etc -

How do we determine God's will so that we can pray boldly, confidently? A. Through the scriptures and also through praying and asking Him to confirm something we are looking for from Him. Q. The relationship with Jesus Christ is personal and individualistic where each church member has to believe In Jesus Christ to have life eternal. The life eternal is found in the person of Jesus Christ not in a church. Q. What should we be doing differently so that we teach a faith relationship rather than a religion? A. We show really know the true word of god and teach it to the body of Christ. What is the difference between "faith" and "faith in Jesus"? A. Faith in any other person (or thing) than Jesus Christ wont lead to getting life eternal. Only faith in Jesus Christ leads to eternal life because He is the only Carrier of eternal life. -

Q1. (1 John 5:4-5) How does a defeatist mentality differ from a belief that in Christ we have overcome the world? What part does faith have in this overcoming? A. A defeatist mentality makes one to surrender quickly when a challenge strikes while faith in the victory of Jesus Christ who is in us will make us to stand and look forward to victory over our challenges too. In this fight in the power of our Lord Jesus, faith is extremely necessary to keep us standing in the face of the intimidating challenges. Q. What part does unbelief have in a defeatist mentality? A. Unbelief in the Lord's ability to give us victory over our challenges makes people to consider the battle lost even before the battle starts. -

A.The statement "God is love" is important beause it explains Who God is- Love, and also implies that we that are created in His image are to love like He does Though created in God's image, we can fall but can receive forgiveness when we confess and repent. Q1. (1 John 4:1-3) Q. Why is believing that Jesus was God in the flesh so important? A. Because the principle is the foundation of the Christian faith. To deny it is to deny Christ. Q. Why doesn't Satan want us to believe that? A. To rob us of our salvation Q. What are the implications of the fact that Jesus could live out his divine life in a human body like ours? What significance does it bring to the crucifixion and to the resurrection? A. This enabled Him as God to live amongst men and be able to die and shed His blood for the cleansing of our sin resulting in our salvation. Q. What is the significance for your Christian life? A. The God that came as man to live and die for me led to my salvation and thus I am reconciled to God and have eternal life -

Though we are saved by grace, we need to live in obedience to God to have our prayers answered. Q. Do we "earn" God's favor through obedience? A. My answer is NO. Favour is like grace that is unmerited. -

If you are in a large congregation, how can you get to know other members so you'll be able to lay down your life for them -- and they for you? A. In some churches like ours, occasionally, awareness is made about the needy in the church especially widows and the fatherless etc and a call is made for members to contribute to their welfare. If we continue to harbour anger and hatred, we cannot love and even if this does not result in physical murder, the spiritual penalty is that of murder. Q. The world hates us because of several reasons including our holier than thou attitude. It means to continue to hold on to the truth that was taught in the beginning by true disciples/ apostles of Jesus so as to remain faithful to the Lord Jesus Q.
