  14. Q4. (3:20-21) Various Christian traditions have different practices of baptism -- the mode (sprinkling, pouring, immersion) and the age (infant vs. an age when a person can profess his or her own faith). Let's not argue about that in this forum. Let me ask you the crucial question for you -- Have you pledged your faith in Jesus Christ and promised to serve him as his disciple? How does this pledge relate to your own baptism? (Remember, no criticism of another's understanding of baptism in the forum. No fighting. No setting people straight -- seriously!) Yes I have pledged my faith in Jesus Christ my Saviour, to serve Him as His disciple. My baptism is a symbol that I died with Him and rose with Him.
  15. Q3. (3:18a) Meditate for a few minutes on this verse: "For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God." Now personalize it to imagine (1) your sins, (2) your unrighteousness, and (3) your reconciliation with God. Each of these ideas is awesome! Which of these three aspects of the verse has God impressed most strongly on you today? Select one of the three and share it. A. My reconciliation is most impressive that despite me, Christ love made Him to die for me, a miserable sinner and as such I am reconciled to the Holy Lord God Almighty. Hallelujah.

Because of fear We hide our identity in areas of hazards All four are needed especially the one that requires us to focus on Christ instead of focusing of fear
  17. . (3:8-9) Which of the qualities Peter mentions in 3:8-9 are most evident in your congregation? Which are most needed? What can you and your friends do to change the relational climate at your church so it is more Christ-like? The qualities that evident in my Church are harmony, brotherly love and compassion. But many struggle in aspects forgiving one another and would rather retaliate as they say that they do not have the third cheek to turn once the two cheeks have been slopped; in this case they will retaliate with evil for evil. We thus need to turn to God for the grace to tolerate one another and to forgive one another.
  18. Q5. (3:7) How can treating one's wife wrongly hinder a husband's prayers? How can treating a husband wrongly hinder a wife's prayers? A. God is a Righteous Father Who delights in the loving relationship of His children. Therefore if one of His children acts in an un -righteous way, He wont be happy and thus wont answer the prayer of the unrighteous child (husband or wife as the case may be)
  19. Q4. (3:7) Why should a husband relate to his wife with knowledge and wisdom? In what way does this demonstrate love? In what way does this demonstrate self-interest? Why do men sometimes try to dominate their wives? Why do wives sometimes try to dominate their husbands? What harm does this do? How is domination of another person contrary to God's nature? A. Husbands should relate with their wives with wisdom and knowledge because both are children of the most high god with equal spiritual destinies and destination. They both look forward to the promised life after death. More so, the Lord Jesus Christ had great respect form women Some cultures treat women as subservient and some even treat women as servants. This is grossly wrong and in-Christly. There are situations when some women particularly those that are politically or economically more highly placed tend to have a tendency of pride that leads to acting more superior to their husbands. This is wrong as it is contrary to God's nature and design for our relationship as husband and wife.

As we yield to to the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we develop character that is pleasing not only to God but to God who sees our heart. Q. How can character help a Christian woman win and hang onto her husband? A. As a Christian woman develops character from her inner beauty by reason of the influence of the Holy Spirit, she lives an extraordinary lifestyle that is not common with ordinary people around. This attracts the husband to the Person causing her to be different- Jesus Christ the Giver of the Holy Spirit.
  21. Q3. (3:4-6) Q. How does a person cultivate inner beauty? How does one gain character? A. By leaving a righteous life of faith and obedience to God / authority. Q. Why is true character so important and precious to God? A. True character is depicted by purity of heart, righteousness. This pleases the Lord Q. How can character help a Christian woman win and hang onto her husband? A. Through the woman's good conduct in the home, the husband will be attracted to God as he realizes that her good conduct is due to her relationship with the Divine Being.
  22. Q2. (3:3) Q. Why should women try to look their best? A. To look attractive to their husbands or for the un-married, to their prospective partners. Q. How can trying to look their best divert women from what is more important? A. Concentrating on outward beauty is to divert so much energy and resources to the physical at the expense of time and resources for the spiritual that has more eternal value. Q. What is the balance? A. Try to look good but do not let your effort and resources be drained on that. Rather, let the beauty and attitude of Christ be our yardstick for beauty, doing that which will please the Lord God Almighty.
  23. Q1. (3:1) Q. Why is submission so difficult for us humans? A. We are by natural independence inclined . Further more, pride makes us to feel like belittling our selves when we submit to someone else. Q. Does submission require you to be silent when you don't agree or feel something can be improved? A. No. When we feel that submission will make us sin against God, we should politely decline to submit to any authority because the Lord God is the highest Authority. Q. When is submission wrong for Christian? A. Submission is wrong if doing so will violate the principle of righteousness or cause us to sin against God.
  24. Q4. (2:24b) Q. If Jesus died to set us free from sin's power, why does sin have such power over us still? According to 2:24b, how must we deal with sin? A. Because we are still living in a sinful world where the devil still fights to keep us under his dominion. We however must die to sin as Jesus died that we may live to righteousness. Q. In practical terms, how can we "die to sin"? In everyday language, what does "live for righteousness" mean? A. It means we must put away our old desires and habits by the power of the Lord God Almighty and fix our mind on things that from above, think of those things which are wholesome and Godly. Phil 4:8; Col 3:1-3
  25. Q3. (2:24a) Q. This may seem like a simplistic question, but give it thought before you answer, and then answer thoughtfully. What is the significance to you personally that Jesus bore your sins in his own body on the cross? A. It means that Jesus Christ my Lord, without sin, and because of the amazing love of God aimed at bringing me back to Him from my path to eternal damnation and death because of sin, took my own sin and the resultant death penalty on Himself to die on my behalf. What a Saviour. I am eternally grateful Lord.
