Q3. God's Wisdom
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Human vs. Spiritual Wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:17b-2:16)
Christ represent God's wisdom, righteousness, holiness and redemption because in the form of man He is still God; and while here on earth Christ fully acted by the power of God. Christ took no credit for anything that He did. He said that He did only what He saw His Father do. As Christians we too should not lay claim to having wisdom, power, righteousness or holiness in and of ourselves. No; it's all in Him, Our God, that we live and move and have our being. -
Q2. Authentic Gospel
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Human vs. Spiritual Wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:17b-2:16)
Non-Christians in our culture stumble over the basic gospel of Christ because they do not want to accept that they have to change their current lifestyle and accept the fact that to embrace the gospel means a transformed life. We can help to bridge this gap through careful and creative presentation of the gospel, teaching them that the transformed live is not solely dependent on their strength and ability; but rather they have the power of God working with them. It is not watering down the gospel but rather teaching them that the Christian life is successful only in the power of God through the Holy Spirit. We cannot escape the tension between culturally-relevant communication and changing the essence of the message because the lens that people look through before a Spirit-Led life is led by the environment in which they grew up. The message that we preach must show them a path out of that culture and enter into a Kingdom culture (mindset). -
Q1. Cultural Values
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Human vs. Spiritual Wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:17b-2:16)
The immoral values being pushed to us by television are many, right along side the example given of sex between consenting adults is okay, vs. sex belongs in marriage is same sex marriage vs. marriage only between a born male and a born female. There is also the same-sex mommy and daddy adopting children vs. parents of opposite gender. There is the pushing of senseless taking of human lives, treating a life as nothing more than a useless item to be discarded. And then there is the atrocious, babies (children), divorcing their parents as opposed to the Biblical instructions to parents to train the child properly. As many truths given to us in the Word of God there are wrongs being done. -
Q4. Divisions
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Healing Church Divisions (1 Corinthians 1:1-17a)
In our community the most glaring division seen in our community is, like the Corinthians, a preference for a particular leader. Today, divisions are caused because there is a lack of walking in agreement with the word of God. To "agree with one another" we would have to, for the sake of unity, to agree to disagree with the opinion of each other. -
Q3. Perseverance
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Healing Church Divisions (1 Corinthians 1:1-17a)
God gives us the gifts of strength, forgiveness and faithfulness. These are God's gifts to ensure that we continue in faith until the end. In order for us to be guaranteed that these gifts will keep us to the end we must be actively participating in receiving and allowing the benefits of the gifts to be the guiding force through our journey. Of the gifts i need to participate more fully in faithfulness; that it may apply to my entire life. Help me Holy Spirit. -
Q2. Thanksgiving
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Healing Church Divisions (1 Corinthians 1:1-17a)
To thank God for the blessings of those who are my enemies is a prayer that I should do more often than I presently do. The Apostle Paul was a man concerned with everyone that he came in contact with, those who were his friends, in the church, and even those who wanted to kill him. As a just man he prayed for them all. Paul thanked God for the gifts that He had given and manifested through the Corinthian believers. -
Q1. Holiness
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Healing Church Divisions (1 Corinthians 1:1-17a)
Q1. (1 Corinthians 1:2) “What does “called to be holy” or “called to be saints” mean? What is a saint according to the Bible? Why is it so comfortable for us to say, “I’m no saint”? What is expected of a person who has been set apart as the personal property of the living God? What kind of behavior does the world expect of those who claim to be followers of Christ? According to the Bible everyone, everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ are saints. Saints a people whom God has set aside for His divine purpose. As a saint "called to be holy", we're to live an unblameable life. We are saints by ownership, a child of God. God tells us to be holy as He is holy. Today it seems that it is comfortable to say, "I'm not a saint"; because we don't always remember that Jesus died so that our sins are forgiven, Sin we are forgiven of our sins we can begin to live a "holy", "sanctified", life. This is what God and the world expects of us, as followers of Christ, to live holy. -
The people wanted a ruler who would remove them from under the tyranical rule of the king. Jesus did not come to be an earthly ruler and retreated when they wanted to take Him by force to make Him king. Jesus knew the purpose of His time on earth, the Father's will, was to redeem man back to God and He allowed nothing to deter Him from this assignment. When people's plans for our lives does not match God's plans, we must do as Jesus did and remove ourselves from under their control.

Q4. Left-overs
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 13. Feeding the Five Thousand, Walking on Water (John 6:1-21)
In my opinion, I believe that Jesus had the disciples pick up the pieces of leftover so that nothing was wasted. We too should not be wasteful. In this Jesus taught His disciples that out of little He could multiply to abundance. -
Jesus blessed the loves and fishes as He distributed them to the disciples and as he distributed the loaves and fishes multiplied. Each time the disciples' basket were emptied they came back to Jesus who blessed the food and distributed to the disciples who in turn shared among the multitude. The baskets were used to hold the multipliedloves and fishes for distribution to the multitude and when they were filled they were used to collect the leftovers. As the disciples were distributing, feeding and at the end collecting the leftover, I imagine that they were more and more impresses with their Teacher and were happy, blessed to be a part of Jesus' miracle.
-
In my opinion, I think that Jesus had the crowd sit down before the feeding so that the disciples could distribute the food in a non-chaotic manner and as they did so, they were absorbing the miracle that was taking place right before their eyes. I would not prepare for a miracle if I think it would not happen. The doubt in your heart woukd negate the miracle from happening. Our congregations are ready to see miracles take place, we just need to trust God and believe that He wants to perform miracles through us. Amen!
-
In my opinion, I think that Jesus was about to teach them a lesson that pointed to His Sovereignty. Jesus sent them out to do a task that He knew they could not perform but that they would come to realized that indeed Jesus is the Provider of and meets our needs when the task seems impossible. The story of the boy’s five loaves and two little fish shows that WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.

Q5. Discernment and Scripture
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 12. Life in the Son (John 5:17-47)
The role of Scripture in our lives should be held very sacred as it is God's Word to us. It becomes most beneficial, eternal value, when we allow the Word to dwell in our heart and live our lives according to the Word of God. There could be people who are great student of the Bible, but they lack spiritual discernment and their lifestyle does not testify of one who allows the Word of God to be the guiding light for their Christian journey. When we allow the Holy Spirit to give revelation and discernment by the Word of God we will not be a people who are legalistic and judgemental. -
Q4. Value of Miracles
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 12. Life in the Son (John 5:17-47)
The miracles are a testimony and evidence that Jesus is who He claimes to be; that He is Son of God. God's confirmation is the working of miracles through Jesus. The weakness of faith that depends solely on miracles is that full faith and trust in Jesus and His Word are not considered sufficient. The is also the reason that we don't have more miracles today, we fail to fully trust in the Word of God. So, when there is a miracle questions arises that doubt that it is indeed a miracle from God as He uses a human to bring forth the manifestation. -
Q3. Wisdom from the Father
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 12. Life in the Son (John 5:17-47)
Jesus is so dependent upon the Father for wisdom because His assignment her on earth was strictly to fulfill the Father's will; and as such He needed wisdom from the Father to complete thet assignment. In our culture we, somtimes, look for approval from those we look to for guidance when we should look to God the Father for it all. In so doing we will be pleasing to God and the assignment He has purposed for us will bring eternal blessings on those whose lives we touch. I now pray that I look to God for more wisdom. After all, He tells us that if we lack wisdom we could come and receive in abundance. -
Q2. Passing from Death to Life
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 12. Life in the Son (John 5:17-47)
Eternal life beins when a person believes in Jesus, that He is the Son of God; and that God sent Him to this world to die for our sins. Without Christ we are doomed to a Christless hell. People can come to eternal life if those of us who have eternal life would go forth and preach or testify of the love of God to them. Friends and neighbors too can hear jesus' words through our teaching and the demonstration of the life that we live. As a Christian I must share the good new of the gospel to win the lost to Jesus Christ. -
Q1. Listening to the Father
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 12. Life in the Son (John 5:17-47)
Knowing the Bible is not a modern-day substitute for istening to the Father. Reading of the Bible is only one of the many ways in which God the Father speaks to us.Churches teach that we should listen for the voice of God but goes no further than a mere teaching. We must believe in Jesus just as the disciples did so that we too can begin to learn to listen to God and obey His voice. If we would learn to do this our world would begin to see more miracles and more people coming to faith in God. -
Q4. Inner and Outer Healing
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 11. Healing at the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-16)
It is possible to be blessed outwardly, but lost inwardly when the is not true repentance from the heart. Jesus confronted the healed man in the temple with his sin because he could lose his healing if he continued in sin. This was necessary for a full healing, and his salvation because it is righteousness and spirit and truth that we maintain purity of heart and our salvation. The man does not seem to respond with faith to Jesus’ rebuke immediately. Immediately he went out and told the Jews that it was Jesus who healed him and told him to take up his bed. However, he could have delayed and heeded Jesus' admonition. -
Q3. Spiritual Blindness
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 11. Healing at the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-16)
They were upset because it was Jesus who did the healing. They hated Jesus and were rigid in following their laws. We too must be careful not to be so ridgid in sticking with the rules that we miss God. Following church programs/agendas could hinder us from seeing what God wants to do among us. The sin of the Pharisees is not seeing Jesus, Son of God at work in their midst. -
Q2. Inquiry and Prayer
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 11. Healing at the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-16)
Jesus asked the invalid if he wanted to get well because He will never trod on our freewill. It is important for us not to make assumptions, bit to seek discernment about people's needs before we pray for them because we must be in God's will; and it is His will that we must honor others freedom to make their own choices. -
Q1. Character and Grace
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 11. Healing at the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-16)
The invalid became complacent in his condition and did not use all the resources available to his. His faith was renewed when the Healer showed up. Jesus' healing here demonstrated the grace of God because in spite of our doing or not doing, believing or not believing He loves us so much that He heals us to bring us into the place where we can continue and go on to complete our assignment here on earth. As humans we find it difficult to accept grace when it is offered to us because we are not as loving and gracious as our Heavenly Father. We resist the concept that God's gifts are entirely by faith because we do not believe it could be that simply. -
Yes, there are great numbers of people who come to faith after seeing a miracle. In evangelism today, miracles bring the unbeliever to believe. Some denominations deemphasize the miracles of today and says that it was only for the early church because they lack the faith that brings miracles. Others emphasizes miracles because they have faith to believe and God honors their faith by manifestation of miracles. The denominations that demonstrates Jesus' teachings of asking the Father anything in His name, it will be done; these denominations will grow faster. When people come to Christ primarily on the basis of miracles they must be taught the other principles of doctrine for daily living.

Q3. Household Faith
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 10. Healing the Royal Official’s Son (John 4:43-54)
The royal official's immediate family, extended family and his servants believed in Jesus when they understood that the healing of the son happened even though Jesus was in another city. The faith of these people were based on the boy's healing. A more mature faith would be to believe before the manifestation of what you're believing God for. Now the royal official was ablt to nurture "faith" even beyond "miracle faith" as he witnessed his household coming to faith in Jesus. -
The royal official's faith was maturing because he believed that Jesus could heal just by speaking a word. He had travelled 20 miles from Capernaum to Cana because he had seen the miracles that Jesus had performed and believed that Jesus could heal his son. The officials faith was maturing. He had faith for his son's healing and knew that Jesus was the Healer. When he departed for his hom, the official did so with the confidence he had in the Healer.

Q1. Maturing Faith
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 10. Healing the Royal Official’s Son (John 4:43-54)
Miracles help to build a mature faith by strengthen one's belief in the supremacy of our Sovereign Omnipotent God. Faith is believing when there is nothing to see. Our Faith matures when we believe simply because God has spoken. We believe and then the manifestation comes. Jesus rebuke the Galileans in 4:48 because it was a teachable moment, both for the Galileans and thse who were following Him.
