Q2. The Courage to Confront
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Finding Courage to Stand (Exodus 5-11)
Q2. Why is it so difficult for some church leaders to confront people? It is differcult for some church leaders to confront people because they want to always appear to be agreeable with everyone. So when the time come and they must confront someone they are afraid of betraying their trust. What fears in this regard does a leader face? The fear of not having the followers in agreement with his decisions. How can confrontation and rebuke be a good thing? Confrontation and rebuke can be a good thing because it allows the person confronting to present his view and the rebuke tells them the position that they should adopt. What happens when we refuse to confront when we should? When we refuse to confront when we should we are left with unanswered questions. -
Q1. Blaming and Resisting God
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Finding Courage to Stand (Exodus 5-11)
Q1. (Exodus 7:6-7) Why did Moses blame God for his troubles? Moses blamed God for his troubles because Pharaoh's treatment of the people was because of Moses following God's instructions and asked for the release of the Israelites. Why are Moses and Aaron so stubborn, do you think? Moses and Aaron are stubborn because of the response they were getting from both Pharaoh and the Israelites. Was it fear? Was it unbelief? Or both, perhaps? I believe that it was a bit of both dear and belief in Moses and Aaron they were embarking upon a journey they had never taken and the fear and uncertainty of what's to come caused resistence. Why does God have to command Moses and Aaron? God had to command Moses and Aaron because they did not see through the eyes of Faith what the results of their obedience would yield. God commanded them and asserted His position as God. -
Q4. Fear and Courage
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. The Birth and Call of Moses (Exodus 1-4)
Q4. Why are we so afraid to obey God when he puts on our heart to do something decisive? We are so afraid to obey God when he puts on our heart to do something decisive because we think it is our our might that it will be accomplished. We forget that God equips us to carry out whatever He puts in our heart. How are we to deal with fear when we feel it? When we feel fear we are to identify the cause and turn the emotion over to God. As God has asked of us, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7. What is the relationship of fear to courage? Fear spurs on courage. Why is courage required in leaders and disciples? Courage is required in leaders and disciples because of our trust in God's ability to do what He says He will. -
Q3. God is Angry with Moses
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. The Birth and Call of Moses (Exodus 1-4)
Q3. (Exodus 4:13-14a) Why is God angry with Moses? God is angry because Moses is showing doubt in God's promise to take care of Moses' inadequacies in public speaking and to coach him on what to say -- helping with both delivery and content. Yet, Moses tries to wriggle out of the call. What is Moses basic sin? Unbelief, fear, or disobedience? Moses' basis sin is unbelief. Has the Lord ever been angry with you, do you think? I repent. I believe that God has been angry with me but in His mercy He has pardoned me. Thank you God. How did Moses appease Gods anger? Moses agreed to proceed accompanied by Aaron his brother. -

Q2. (2:18) If we are to submit to our employers and respect them, what is that saying about God's expectation that we do a good job? Doing a good job that would get God's approval, require of us that we submit ourselves to our employers and respect them, whether they are Christians or not. In what sense do we dishonor God when we don't give our full effort to our jobs? We dishonor God when we give our effort to our jobs beyond that which we give in service to God and His Kingdom.

Q1. God's Glory
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #4 Submitting and Suffering Like Jesus (1 Pet 2:13-23)
Q1. (2:15-16) In what way is God's glory dependent upon us living submissive, obedient lives? God is glorified when we live submissive and obedient to His commandments. His name is not maligned when we live as servants and give those in authority the respect that is due them. How is God hurt when we get rebellious? God is hurt when we get rebellious and refuse to give respect to authority. Those around would speak ill of the people of God, they may even be treated with contempt and disgraced. All this brings hurt feeling to God who would that all men love Him and live by His Word. -
Q5. (2:12) How can the good deeds we commit by living openly as Christians increase God's praise. How does our "blending in" detract from God's praise? The good deeds we commit by living openly as Christians will increase God's praise as family members, friends, neighbors, those around us see our lives, become Christians and they too give God praise. How does our "blending in" detract from God's praise? Our "blending in" detract from God's praise because those who do not know Him has no point of reference to draw them to Him, by looking at our lives. All they see is us doing the same things that they do.

Q4. (2:11) Read 1 Peter 2:11 carefully. The world tells us (1) to conform and (2) that sin won't hurt us. What does Peter tell us to combat these lies? How can this reminder help us? Peter tells us to not to conform to the world but to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul." This reminder helps us beaware of those who will try to get us to lower our standards. Many says, "You dont need to do all that to be a Christian," and when you agree with them one time the next time you do the same and soon lose yourself to sinful desires which ar against your soul.

Q1. Priesthood
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3 Being God's Temple, Priesthood, and People (1 Pet 2:4-12)
Q1. (2.5) Christians often look at their relation to God as consumers, delighting in what God does for them. What is the mindset of a priest towards God? The mindset of a priest toward God should be that of a servant to a master. What actions does this mindset inspire in you? This mindset inspires devotion and service to God. -
Q4. (1:18-19) Have you ever felt you were of no worth or of no value? No, I have never felt that I was of no worth or value. What does 1 Peter 1:18-19 say about your worth? 1 Peter 1:18-19 says that I was redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to from forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. What does it say about God's love for you? It says that God's love for me is unmatchable and eternal. What does it indicate about the long-term value of your balance sheet and financial assets? It indicate that the long-term value of my balance shet and financial assets are always and forever will be "positive" and "profitable"; never in the "red" or "unprofitable". What are your true long-term investments? My true long-term investments are those things which builds a strong spiritual life in Christ. Why? Because these are of eternal value.

Q3. Judgment and Gospel
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #2 Living Holy Lives (1 Pet 1:13-2:3)
Q3. (1:17) Why are people in our culture so upset when they sense they are being judged by someone else? People in our culture are so upset when they sense they are being judged by someone else because they see that person as not being any different than they are, having the same flaws; sin. How do you reconcile final judgment with God's love for the world? Because of God's love for the world he sent his only begotton Son to be the proptiation for mankind's sin. God's love provided a way that man can be redeemed from sin and the final judgment to give man his just reward. Why must final judgment be at the core of the Good News of Jesus Christ? Final judgment must be at the core of the Good News of Jesus Christ because He is the RuleMaker. What happens to the Gospel when final judgment is left out or ignored? When final judgment is left out or ignored the Gospel the teaching of righteousness, self-control and other fruit of the Spirit is ignored. -
Q2. (1:15-16) In your own words, how would you define "holiness"? "Holiness" is being compliant with God's laws and living inaccordance to His will being manifested in our daily walk. In what sense are you (by definition) holy now? Living according to God's laws. In what sense must you be obedient in order to become holy? in order to become holy one must obey God's Word. God's Word is His will for mankind. When we obey His Word we walk in accordance with His will and we become holy. What is your biggest struggle with holiness? My biggest struggle with holiness is seeing it more in the church and having the Body of Christ accept it in others.

Q1. Christ's coming
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #2 Living Holy Lives (1 Pet 1:13-2:3)
Q1. (1:13) What about Christ's coming should get our undivided attention? The sudden unannounced arrival should get our undivided attention. Since we do not know when that day will be we should be watching and in preparedness. Why should it inspire hope? It should inspire us because it is an eventuality; Christ return is as certain as His resurrection. We're inspired because of the hope of His return. Why should it inspire self-control and soberness? Christ return should inspire self-control and soberness because we will be preparing for His return; eagerly watching and praying. What happens in our lives when we don't really expect Christ to come soon? When we don't really expect Christ soon return we become complacent and continue as though there is plenty of time to His return. And in the meantime the unsaved are not being introduced to Christ. -
Q2. Forgiveness and Obedience
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #1 Rejoicing in Our Salvation (1 Pet 1:1-12)
Q2. (1:2) Why do forgiveness (sprinkling) and obedience come together as a package? Forgiveness (sprinkling) and obedience come together as a package because to believe in Jesus for salvation is accomplished by obedience and with the obedience to salvation come forgiveness. Why is it deceptive to think you can have one without the other? It is deceptive to think that you can have one without the other because without obedience there is no salvation and forgiveness comes with salvation. Extra credit: If true faith requires obedience, how can we say that we are saved by grace rather than works? (Ephesians 2:8-10) True faith requires believing in God and because we believe we obey. We can say that we are saved by grace because our salvation is a work of God, He saves us. We are not saved by any work of our own. -

Praise and thanksgiving kept both Simeon and Anna in the temple doing the same day and night, looking forward to the fulfilment of the promise. What does this say about them? This attitude of worship says that they both lived devoted lives and kept worship as priority. How do we nurture these in our lives? We nurture these by intentionally presenting ourselves befor God and offer praise and thanksgiving. This offering can be done anyplace and at all times. Why does our culture see long periods spent in prayer as wasted? Our culture see long periods spent in prayer as wasted because we dont appreciate the power of prayer and the presence of God which we have when we are in focused communion with God. How did Anna see it? Anna saw it as her life long service to God; to her I don't thing anything else counted. -
Question 3
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in Meeting Simeon and Anna in the Temple (Luke 2:21-38)
Q3. What did Simeon's and Anna's righteousness, devotion, and praise have to do with their sensitivity to the Holy Spirit's voice?{/b} Their righteousness, devotion, and praise to God kept them sensitive to the Holy Spirit's voice which kept them in the place where God's promise was revealed. {b}What are some of the reasons that we can't hear God? Some of the reason we can't hear from God is lack of righteousness, devotion, and praise to God. We're caught up in things of non eternal value and ignoring those things that brings us close to God. -
Question 2
Commissioned replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in Meeting Simeon and Anna in the Temple (Luke 2:21-38)
Q2. If Simeon and Anna had never seen the Messiah, in what ways might their lives have been important? In what might your life be important to God? Even if Simeon and Anna had not seen the Messiah their lives would have been important as they both availed themselves for God to use and speak to; they both allowed the Holy Spirit of God to impart to them God's word and they both believed. We too can be important in God's kingdom by availing ourselves for God's eternal will to be done through us.
