  1. The picture of unity, love and compassion attracts the majority of us but nevertheless, it doesn't exist in the majority of us. Seeing people working together on one accord does my spirit good, for a house divided among itself will not stand and except God builds a house the labour is in vain. Unity carries love the love of God; The implication of this psalm is that it is good for brethern in Christ to dwell together in unity. "If there be but one God, as God is one, so let them that serve Him be one. This is what Christ prayed so heartily for. "That they may be one; John 17:21. Christians should be as one all having the same spirit and the mind of Christ. God works abundantly in unity He bestows blessing upon His people abundantly when they are in unity and on one accord for God is not the author of confusion,
  2. In this life we will encounter all sorts of trouble and tormoils but there is a rock on which we can stand. For God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Some people look for high walls and strong gates as a fortress for their protection but God is our fortress our rock and shield. We that are His should not fear of the situation around us for God is in our midst, and He will conquer whatever violent disturbances we may encounter. God says He will never leave us nor forsake us He will be there to deliver us and in the midst give us peace, His peace that passes all understanding. Psalm 46:4-5; There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God. The city of God was threatened by neighboring nations, but the inhabitants of Jerusalem were calmly trusting God for protection. Ever since the Garden of Eden God has always had a river to bring peace to His own. It is "The River of God's Grace" ; David the psalmist was so certain of God's grace in bringing about victory that he exclaims, God shall help her, and that right away. (10). Be still, and know that I am God. These words are not address to those that bring us trouble or situations that comes up against us where we don't see no way out. God is talking to His own saying don't be afraid, fret, or worry this battle is mine not yours, you have done all you can do. Stand still and let Him work, stand still and see the Salvation of the Lord. Oh what joy it brings when we are confronted with a problem which has no solution, and yet God works it out for our good and His Glory! All we have to do is stand still and watch the mighty hand of God intently. It is then that we too know and can say "The Lord of hosts is with us, the God of Jacob is our refuge.
  3. Proverbs 16:18; Pride goeth before destruction; And a haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. Proverbs 29:23; A man's pride shall bring him low: But honor shall uphold the humble in Spirit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Psalm 131 Lord my heart it not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty. David is saying that his heart is not lifted up. (As King Uzziah in II Chronicles 26:16)>But when he was strong his heart was lifted up to his destruction; as he transgressed against the Lord his God..... His heart is not exalted, lifted high by pride. God's Word says that David was a man after God's own heart; not because he was so righteous, but mainly because David was a man of true repentance. Pride keeps a lot of people from being humble of lower not only to ask forgiveness from others, but also lower themselves to seek or ask godly repentance of God. In other words they think themselves more highly than they are so they are headed for a great fall. David was saying he had not been lifted up with pride, and his eyes did not seek that upon which pride feeds. Neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. David did not attempt to dive into the secret of God's purposes, or into the sovereigh design of God. (2). Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother. Hebrews records this statement as some form of oath, a phrase of asserveration. What had David the Psalmist been weaned?; (a). Self-sufficiency (. Self-will
