Q1. Lion and Root
Julie replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #5. The Triumphant Lamb We Worship (Revelation 5)
Lion of the tribe of Judah-In Genesis 49 8-12, Judah is promised the right to rule until it comes to the one it belongs, the Lamb is the one to whom it belongs. Root of David- "And thy house and thy kingdom shall bv established forever, thy throne shall be established forever", God had made a covenent with David, but that kingly line was cursed, but through the virgin birth that promise was fulfilled, for Mary was a descendant of david and an uncursed link, this was the only way that God could keep is promise to David and His curse on Jehoiachin which made Jesus the uncursed legal heir to the throne of David. -
For it would be unreasonable to think we could be unforgiving when Our Lord granted us forgiveness for our sins, how could we deny the forgiveness to others, when someone sins or tresspasses against you by violating scripture, they should be forgiven, no forgiveness for others means no forgiveness for us.

The importance is to remember to do this in Remembrance of Him, to me it is not to be done in haste, or with little thought, it is to be done remembering that Jesus poured out His blood of the covenant for the sins of many (blood-sacrifice), His body which He gave for us (bread-suffering). It may of been a radical ideal for the disciples for Jesus was with them in their sight they may have not been able to comprehend what He was telling them, it wasn't complete. For us it is complete, finished.

Q5. Freedom
Julie replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3. The Lamb Who Redeems Us from Slavery (1 Pet 1:18-19; Mk 10:44-45)
Q4. Extra Credit: In what sense have we been set free or relased from slavery to sin? We have spiritual freedom not spiritual bondage if we have been delivered by the power of Christ. We cannot defeat satan on our own, satan has power, there are real spiritual beings who seek to enslave men, but Christ is more powerful and without Him we are doomed to a life of spiritual bondage-a slave to sin. Why do we need the Holy Spirit to help us keep this freedom? The Holy Spirit is also called the Spirit of Truth, and gives us the saving knowledge of Christ, also the Holy Spirit enables us to live a holy life and gives us gifts to glorify, serve God. Those who are filled with the Holy Spirit bears fruit such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self control. The Holy Spirit dwells in who believe in Jesus, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in our hearts. Without the Holy Spirit we would not know the truth we would be decieved by satan, we would not bear the fruit. -
The unsaved are the slaves to sin, satan enslaves men to his will. satan also attacks Christians but we need not fear for the demons are powerful but Christ is more powerful. The redeeming power of Christ ends the enslavement. There is no ransom to satan for he is defeated, we cannot defeat him on our own, but he cannot defeat us if we face him in the power of Christ.

Q3. Purchased
Julie replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3. The Lamb Who Redeems Us from Slavery (1 Pet 1:18-19; Mk 10:44-45)
We should follow Christ and not want to be out of His presence. We should deny ourselves and take up the Cross daily and follow Christ. -
Slaves were the class of humans freed. This analogy was used to help us understand that this bondage is just as much a part of life today as was in the past. It helps explain that the power of Christ is the only hope for those in spiritual bondage. Satan enslaves men to his will. Only Christ can end that enslavement.

Q4. Bearing Our Punishment
Julie replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #2. The Lamb Who Takes Our Place (Isaiah 53)
Jesus bore the separation of God and suffered for me. If there were no crucifixition then I would have been doomed to a life without God's help and direction and to eternal suffering. Praise the Lord. -
Q3. Substitutionary Atonement
Julie replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #2. The Lamb Who Takes Our Place (Isaiah 53)
Jesus was the Lamb of the OT. Jesus is God's only Begatten Son, and Our Heavenly Father crucified Him in our place. -
Q2. Sense of Destiny
Julie replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #2. The Lamb Who Takes Our Place (Isaiah 53)
Luke 24:25-27 and Luke 22:37 Jesus tell us from His own lips,"Did not Christ have to suffer these things and then enter into His glory?'' and "It is written: and He was numbered with the trangressors, and I tell you that this must be fullfilled in Me. -
Q1. Universal Atonement
Julie replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #2. The Lamb Who Takes Our Place (Isaiah 53)
Sins were removed from an indefinate amout of people, having no fixed number, this is universal for it is without a fixed number it is a sacrifice for all. Is Jesus sacrifice wasted on some people, I would pray not, Yes, there are some who do not believe in Him, but, through this sacrifice a nonbeliever always has hope, He is patiently waiting for them. -
The memory of the chicken and pig is something not easily forgotten, and would have been harder to forget if I had to sacrifice them. This teaches me how ugly sin is and how repulsive sin is to Our Heavenly Father, and reminds me of how much He loves each and everyone of us, that He allowed sacrifice to take place in order that we could be purged of sin, to be holy, Our God is all loving merciful, compassionate, forgiving.
-
Sin is repugnant to Our Heavenly Father, the animal sacrifice was a way of purging ourselves of sin in order to be reconciled with God. This He allowed for sin separates us from Him and this separation He did not want, Oh if we could fully understand the love He has for us. The animal sacrifices were not enough to pay for human sin. but they prepared a way for a sacrifice that was.

1. Confession 2. Animal with no defect 3. Laying on of hands 4. Slaying the animal 5. Blood 6. Removing the fat Confession, or asking forgiveness is the only one needed today to forgive your sins (assuming that you are saved), for Our Heavenly Father sacrificed His only Begotten Son for us

I can still see this chicken running around the yard with his head chopped off, and can still see the body of the pig with the blood running down, both were done not for sacrifice but to have for supper one evening. This was years ago, and the memory is like yesterday. This is repulsive to us for we do not like to take life, and the site can affect us for many years.

Q2. Anger, Caprice, and Justice
Julie replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #1. The Lamb of God (John 1:29)
Why is anger an appropriate response to sin? For this is a Christian responsibility. Anger stirred up by pride is wrong, but to be stirred up over sin is not. what is the difference? Anger is often but not always a sin, it is not wrong to be stirred up by unrighteousness, Christ also acted out of righteous anger, but He did not loose His temper. -
How do you know that John the Baptist's statement about the Lamb of God refers to sacrifice? The key words I see is "Lamb and "takes away"- a lamb was in the OT used as a sacrifice, and the blood made atonement, Lamb of God- (Jesus) who takes away-(makes atonement for us). How was the comprehensiveness of "sins of the world" so radiacal a concept? Bare with me on the second part of the question don't know if I am understanding what is meant. The sins of the world meant everyone not just a certain sect. Sin separates us from God, without the blood of the Lamb we could not get close to God, in the OT the blood of animal sacrifices were shed but could not take sin away, through Jesus, "sins of the world" were taken away, this made it complete.

Q5. Gideon's Positive Infulence
Julie replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 4. Gideon's Tragic Mistake (Judges 8:22-35)
How does Gideon influence Israel during his life? (8:28-35) Through faith in God What is the positive continuing effect of his leadership as judge? Protection, spiritual peace, prosperity, and eternal life. -
Q3. Spiritual Adultery
Julie replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 4. Gideon's Tragic Mistake (Judges 8:22-35)
The Church is pictured as the bride of Christ, we are God's people we are the bride of Christ, for Gods' people to worship another god or idols amounts to spiritual adultery, charms (something to protect you) goes in this category, also so do the worship of the Lord by images. I have pictues of Christ in my home, I also have a statue of Mary holding Jesus that my mother gave me, I feel it would be wrong to trash it, if I would worship these things I would be commiting adultery, but they are hanging on the wall or sitting on a shelf is just to have these things adultery?
