Q3. A Manger for His Bed
lindajellis57 replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 3. The Shepherds' Sign of the Manger (Luke 2:1-20)
Shepherds were outcasts, poor, lonely and I believe in most cases humble people. They traveled around a good bit, so the message of the Messiah's birth would spread. Jesus gave up everything that was his in heaven to become human on earth. The manager represents humility, servitude. He came into this world as poor as poor could get. God is showing himself willing to be human. He sacrifices himself in Jesus. -
Q3. Christmas Hardships
lindajellis57 replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 3. The Shepherds' Sign of the Manger (Luke 2:1-20)
At nine months, Mary was not really in any shape to travel. It was cold and aside from Joseph lonely. No comfort from familair sources, home and family. Pleasure is not an indication that we are in God's will. Pleasure can come from wordly sources as well as spiritual ones. I find pleasure in Praising God for all he does for me. I enjoy being in nature and also surrounded be children's laughter and fun. Beingf a consistent Christian is hard. The more I do things for my Lord the more the Devil wants to steal, kill and destroy. -
Q5. Naming the Child
lindajellis57 replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Joseph, the Stand-In Father (Matthew 1:18-25)
Joseph wa an honorable and righteous man. By following the Angel Gabriel's directive, by naming Jesus, he became his legal guardian, fulfilling the prophesy that the Messiah would be from the house of David. -
3. The Name Jesus
lindajellis57 replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Joseph, the Stand-In Father (Matthew 1:18-25)
The significance was the meaning, "Yahweh saves." The name was given separately so neith would forget who he was, Yahweh's salvation in human form. -
Q2. The Character of Joseph
lindajellis57 replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Joseph, the Stand-In Father (Matthew 1:18-25)
Mary had no options, her fate was stoning or to be shunned. Joseph was a righteous, honorable man who only wished to do the right thing quietly. -

He would have learned how people work and live. How to deal with people. He probably would have experienced people's emothion from good to bad, happy to sad. -
Q5. Titles of St. Mary
lindajellis57 replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Mary, The Virgin Mother (Luke 1:26-45)
The titles for Mary come straight from Luke. As Jesus' earthly mother she was truly blessed. I think we are hesitant to exalt Mary because of a tendency to worship her instead of God. -

Q4. Mary's Response to the Angel
lindajellis57 replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Mary, The Virgin Mother (Luke 1:26-45)
Mary's response was "I am your servant, let your will be done." Her response was complete faith in the Lord. Mary was raised in a God loving home. Her upbringing provided a background for her beliefs. When we follow the Lord, we do so in obedience and faith. -

lindajellis57 replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. Mary, The Virgin Mother (Luke 1:26-45)
The virgin birth proves Jesus was divine and human without blemish. The virgin birth is the 1st miracle of Christianity. It connects the triumvirate, God, Jesus and the Hoy Spirit as one. -
