  1. I believe that faith is dead when unaccompanied by action, because how are you going to express your faith if no one is there to witness that you are a child of God? Your deeds are the result of your faith although you could do good deeds without faith, but you could not have faith without good deeds. People with faith have a love for Jesus Christ and out of that love for Jesus Christ they have love for others around them and because of this love people perform good deeds. If a person states that he has faith, but does not good deeds then he is blinded by the lies of Satan and should reassess himself to see whether his faith is genuine. Your good deeds or actions do not necessarily have to be life changing in the sense that you have to do something great which will be remembered i.e. giving
  2. In showing regards towards the wealthy you are judging in favour of him based on his appearance, looks, wealth, tidiness, etc etc
  3. The Great Commandment is the Royal Law, because it summarises all the laws previously provided by God to Israel (in Exodus) in one Commandment. Follow this Great Commandment and you will automatically obey the 10 Commandments. I personally feel that the Great Commandment is more
  4. Favouritism makes us judges, because we are giving people the benefit of the doubt without even giving the other person the opportunity to compete or proof himself
  5. I used to discriminate against plenty of different type of people or sinners. Even as a Christian I used to discriminate, but it was only when I became a born again Christian did I realise what I was doing. I am not sure if I still discriminate against sinners or not, but I pray that if I do that the Lord would open my eyes and help me to realise what I am doing wrong so that I can repent and change my point of view. I am not trying to make a good impression on anyone neither should any Christian try to do so. We have an obligation to be different, not to impress others, but to be examples for others so that they can see and witness how great our God is and how never ending is love is for us.
  6. To tame the tongue and caring for the poor are the prime test, because these are actions that Christians witness when we are amongst others. It is important to have quiet time with the Lord to build your relationship with Him and that is where faith comes into play, but if your faith does not flow over into actions then your faith is meaningless.
  7. The Perfect law that James refers to is to love your God with all your heart, soul, mind and power. The royal law is to love your neighbour as yourself. The two does relate to each other, but only if you follow the perfect law first. A person could love his neighbour as himself without loving God, but show me someone who loves God who does not love his neighbour. This will bring you eternal live through the grace of God
  8. Allot op people in the world tend to talk-the-talk, but not walk-the-walk as they should (as I have been so guilty of many times) and this is what James is trying to warn us about here. It is easy to say you are a Christian, but to live like a Christian is much more difficult and challenging. People react more on what they see people do rather than to what people say. How can we as children of God lead people to Christ if we don
  9. As it states in John1:1, the Word was there from the beginning and that the Word was with God and the Word was God. This Word that John refers to (according to my understanding) is Jesus Christ, so what James refers to here is that God give us spiritual birth by His will through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the key or gateway and as soon as we accept Jesus Christ in our hearts we shall be spiritually born through the will of God.
  10. The Roman Christians in those days were exposed to persecution (death) for following Christ. Nero used to burn or feed them to the lions as examples of what would happen to those who worship God. Today the perils are not so severe but Christians are mostly exposed to exclusion from society. People tend to look down on Christians and judge them. This passage assures us that regardles of the perils that lie ahead of us, nothing would seporate us fro mthe love of God. In the end all these perils don
  11. The Statement above means that those who are against us will loose, because God is standing for us and no can stand up against the power of God. Our enemies are all the evil and demonic spirits in this world. I don
  12. My understanding is that we are made to be just like His Son...to be made equal as His Son of which Jesus is the first born. This in return means that we need to strive and live like Jesus did.
  13. The actual promise that God made in this verse is that all good things will work together for those who love him. This means that for all who love God, if you have hopes & dreams and you wish to pursue it then God will make it happen, but only if it is in conjunction with his purpose. If your calling is to start a children
  14. The early Roman Christians were most likely to be persecuted. In today
  15. I think that the significance is that God who is all powerful and almighty loves us extremely. He loves us so much that he did not spare His own son which just proves how much he loves us. Now who would dare to be against the people that God loves so much? Those who are against us are also against God and we all know that no one would stand a chance if they go against God. Our enemies are the non-believers in Christ. Those who choose not to love him and to be called according to His purpose. The statement makes me feel safe and it gives me the assurance that all will be well or better for the future. Whatever might happen to me in years to come does not matter. What is important is that God loves me and all things work for the better. We know that the end is coming and what we receive when the end is here will be far better than what we experienced in our past.
