  1. Partnering with a missionary and church allows me to share in that ministry, even though I may not be "hands on" involved. The most important thing I can do is to pray, followed by my giving and emotional, spiritual and mental support. For me the spiritual blessings are of greater value than anything material. I am not surprised when I see God answer pray, but I am awed by it every time. I think the greatest blessing is knowing I helped enlarge God's kingdom and reduced the kingdom of Satan.
  2. By common definition a slave is a person owned by someone else, the "master", and is obligated to serving the master's request no matter what the outcome. The definition of the word used by Paul is to refer to a person who has chosen to be obligated for life by a desire to follow and obey Christ Jesus. The root idea of a saint is one who is sanctified, or set apart, dedicated to serving God out of desire and obedience to Jesus. In the sense of my relationship to God, they both indicate a willing desire to follow and obey the Christ, and to be committed to that service for the rest of my life regardless of obstacles or difficulties I encounter on the journey.
  3. Good afternoon. My name is Marc, and I live in the Grand Canyon State, Arizon. I am originally from The Lone Star state, Texas. I lead a small group in my church, and we are doing a study in Philipians, and I discovered this site with this study and felt it would be of great value to my own personal study of this book. I will be using this study to help me get a better understanding of what Paul meant when he told us to renew ourselves by the changing of our minds by thinking on the good things of and from God, and not dwelling on the distractions and difficulties of the world. God be with us as we venture through this study. Marc
