Q13. Blessings to the Church
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1.3. The Greatness of Our Christian Inheritance (1:15-23)
We miss out on the little piece of heaven God gave us while on this earth and we deprive them of the same. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 Many times I have been in countries where there were no churches. I'm glad I worshipped alone. -
Q15. Following Satan
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2.1. From Deadness in Sin to Coming Alive in Christ (2:1-7)
Few people would knowingly follow Satan. How can people unwittingly follow Satan. In what sense are we responsible for unwitting rebellion against God? How can God in all fairness blame us? Satan is the great deceiver. Without prayer and Bible study we will fall into his traps. Few people seem to take God seriously and since we are carnal by nature we are going to be prone to rebellion against God who is holy. We are in Satan's domain before we are saved by grace through the atoning blood of Christ and therefore totally vulnerable to his evil devious schemes to take us all to where he is going. He is the father of all lies and we listen. How can God not blame us since He is written on our hearts? I think that not only do we not take God seriously but we make a joke of Satan and don't take seriously the whole spiritual realm since we are born spiritually dead. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 -
Q14. Spiritual Deadness
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2.1. From Deadness in Sin to Coming Alive in Christ (2:1-7)
They are spiritually dead! Pray for them and allow God to work through us and our circumstances and if they ask let them know of the hope that resides in us. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 -
Q11. Unmeasurable Power
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1.3. The Greatness of Our Christian Inheritance (1:15-23)
Why are we powerless sometimes? Is it an inadequacy with the source or with our faith? Why do some congregations and movements produce disciples with miracle-believing faith and others produce disciples with wimpy faith? How can this be changed? I have a note in my Bible that is from Matthew Henry's commentary that says "He has appointed us to draw out spiritual blessings and bring them in through prayer. We have no part nor lot in the matter any further than we claim it through faith and prayer". If we are not reading His Word to have deeper understanding and not in prayer we probably lack power. It is a lack of connection with the source of the power. I believe prayer was always essential to great faith if I put that right. I just remember reading about certain people feeling compelled to much prayer for certain areas before great revivals happened. PRAY! God Bless!! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 "What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer." -
Q10. Christian Inheritance
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1.3. The Greatness of Our Christian Inheritance (1:15-23)
If you knew that in a few years you would inherit $10 million would it affect your life now? I would want to do everything I had to to make sure I received it and could enjoy it. How should our expectation of an inheritance in God's presence temper our present day concerns? I should put my concerns more in God's hands because He only allows what will be good for me and glorify Him. He wants to make me ready to receive my inheritance. "He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it". I'm glad He is faithful to His Word or I should give up in despair. Since this inheritance will be shared with "the saints"-our Christian family- how should that affect our fellowship with them? We should love them and treat them that way. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 -
Q9. Christian Hope
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1.3. The Greatness of Our Christian Inheritance (1:15-23)
What do we Christians have to look forward to? We shall forever be with the Lord! How should this hope be a major motivation in our present day lives? It should motivate us to share the gospel and pray that others will see Christ in us and desire what we have. How should this hope affect our decisions and our life style? We should pray always and live godly in Christ Jesus! How does our great hope differ from the hope of the average non-believer? Paul couldn't even express what he saw it was so wonderful and non-believers have no hope just terrible terrible dread whether they realize it or not. WE REALLY NEED TO PRAY FOR EACH OTHER!! We have an enemy that doesn't want us to be an effective witness! God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 -
Q8. Seal and Downpayment
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1.2. God's Gracious Plan of Redemption (1:7-14)
These verses contain two analogies (1) seal and (2) down payment with the balance to be paid in a lump sum at the end of the term. When does the "end of the term" occur. How do these two analogies help explain how the Holy Spirit functions in our lives? The end of the term means when we are in heaven with the Lord since heaven is our inheritance. The Holy Spirit seals us as His and is a down payment for us as a divine pledge of what is going to be ours. "Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a fortaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit , washed in His blood. Perfect submission, perfect delight, Visions of rapture now burst on my sight; Angels descending bring from above echoes of mercy, whispers of love. Perfect submission, all is at rest, I in my Savior am happy and blest; Watching and waiting, looking above, Filled with His goodness, lost in His love." God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 -
Q7. God's Purpose
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1.2. God's Gracious Plan of Redemption (1:7-14)
According to verses 11 and 12, what is God's purpose for our lives? What do we need to do to fulfill this purpose? How does this purpose relate to Matthew 5: 13-16? We are here for the praise of His glory. I can think of no higher calling. If we are doing our job as believers we will be the salt of the earth. For some that is one thing and for others it is something else. Some suffer and some don't. We are to be concerned that each of us is doing His will. We are not perfect and we need to be forgiving of each other even as Christ out of His great mercy has forgiven us. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 -
What is the significance that all things will be brought under one head Christ himself? How does this relate to the Creator? What does it say about unity? Right now we are playing otunes (off tune) with heaven and then we will be playing itunes (in tune) with heaven. There will be total unity and harmony as exists in the Godhead today. For we are in Christ our Creator and all will be under the headship of Christ of whom we are in. He is ours and we are His! Total unity!! What a day of rejoicing that will be!! E. C. How does this verse relate to 1Corinthians 15:24-28. This is the culmination when all things will be subject to Him and Satan and death will be destroyed. "For He must reign until He hath put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death, For He hath put all things under His feet. But when he saith all things are put under Him it is manifest that He is excepted which did put all things under Him and when all things shall be put under him then shall the Son Himself also be subject unto Him that did put all things under Him, that God may be all in all." Total unity! How marvelous How glorious is my Savior's love for me. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26

Q5. Redeemed from Slavery
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1.2. God's Gracious Plan of Redemption (1:7-14)
In what sense have you been redeemed from slavery? What would your future be like without redemption do you think? I once knew only sin in Satan's kingdom of darkness and through the blood of Christ on the cross I was bought and brought into Gods kingdom of light. I was a mess. Now through the Holy Spirit His Word is alive and teaches me God's way and gives me the ability to perform. What would your future be like without redemption do you think? I can look at ruined lives and know that there but by the grace of God go I. God Bless! Jen Numbers6:24-26 -
Q4. Adoption
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. 1 Spiritual Blessings in Christ (Ephesians 1:1-6)
Why is adoption a particularily apt illustration to us? Why is the concept of adoption encouraging to us? The dictionary says to adopt is(1)take a person into a relationship, esp. anothers child as one's own. This is just what God did for us. He freely for us and at great cost to Himself took us into His family to live with Him forever. He will never let go of us. We have the rights and privileges of sonship. Also the responsibilities to obey Him and to walk in a way that will honor Him. May His name be praised forever! Amen! God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 -
Q3. Holy and Blameless
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. 1 Spiritual Blessings in Christ (Ephesians 1:1-6)
What does it mean to be holy? In what sense can you stand "blameless" before God. My dictionary says holy means (1)morally and spiritually excellent or perfect, and to be revered. (2)belonging to, devoted to, or empowered by God. (3)consecrated, sacred. Since only God is holy it is because we are chosen in Him that we can be declared holy. As John MacArthur puts it "the unworthy have been declared worthy, the unrighteous declared holy". "Obviously Paul is talking about our position and not our practice". I love this. The unworthy (me) has been declared worthy through the finished work of Christ on the cross and in that sense I can stand as chosen in Him and therefore blameless before God. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 -
Q2. Predestination
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. 1 Spiritual Blessings in Christ (Ephesians 1:1-6)
What is scary about predestination? What is comforting? Why does Paul bring up predestination? Why do you think he is praising God for it in the hearing of the Ephesians? The older I grow the more comfortable I am with predestination maybe because my understanding has grown. God planned before the foundations of the earth for you and me. That's not scary (awesome like He is maybe) but rather comforting. God's plan is not haphazard but well planned with a "firm foundation Christ Jesus our Lord". J. Vernon McGee puts it this way "God the Father planned the church, God the Son paid for the church, and God the Holy Spirit protects the church". This is comforting! I also like what Charles Spurgeon said, " God chose me before I came into the world because if He'd waited until I got here, He never would have chosen me." We are all in this. We are sinners chosen by Him by predestination before we had a chance to do anything. Thank you Father, thank you Son, and thank you Holy Spirit. It is indeed a firm foundation and well planned. Paul brings up predestination out of love so we may know the truth. Not that we chose Him but that He chose us! I never would have chosen Him on my own. He saved me, He brought me up out of a miry pit. He knew right where to find me. God Bless each of you!! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 -
Q1. In Christ
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. 1 Spiritual Blessings in Christ (Ephesians 1:1-6)
The reference for "in Christ" in my Bible for this passage is Romans 8:1. "There is therefore now no condemnations for those who are in Christ Jesus." It means that I have been reconciled to God through Christ and am no longer a slave to sin but I belong to Him. The implication of this for my life is that I no longer live to myself but to Him who redeemed me. I am to be His ambassador. As always I need a lot of improvement in this area. God Bless Jen Numbers 6:24-26 -
Q1. Fulfilled Prophecy
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 8. Daniel's Confession on Behalf of His People (Daniel 9:1-19)
What encourages Daniel to seek God for the forgiveness and restoration of Israel to its homeland? His knowledge of the scriptures. What trait on Daniel's part brings the encouragement to pass. His faithful walk in reading the scripture and his prayer life with the God of Israel. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 -
What is the significance of Hezekiah spreading out the enemy's message before the Lord? What is the underlying principle illustrated here? How can we apply this principle to our own lives? What happens when we don't apply this principle? Hezekiah was showing his total dependance on the Lord in every area the large and small. The underlying principle here is that we are totally dependant on God for everything. If we go to Him in prayer and confess our total dependance on Him He has shown that He will answer. When we don't apply this to our lives we get worn out , discouraged and make mistakes because we don't understand the battle. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26

Why is a person's attitude with regard to giving related to that persons attitude towards praise? Why does an attitude fo possessiveness with regards to giving get in the way ofworship? In what sense so all your possessions belong toGod? What then should be your relationshhip to all possessions? How will these truths reenergize yur giving? Your praise? When I get stingy with my giving I find I get stingy with my praise. It seems to become all about me and not God which in turn gets in the way of worship. When I focus on my possessions I loose my joy because the Lord is (or should be) my joy and not on anything material. I should enjoy the things He has provided and thank Him but not make them the focus of my attention. In my heart I know this but in this world it's sometimes easy for the mind to forget and we need to be reminded. Also as one having lost her possessions twice I know that to put your hope in them is foolish. I praise you Father for the many truths you have blessed me with in your Word about You and for sending your Son for me so that I may enjoy heaven and my Hope who is in heaven for all eternity. Forgive me for my stinginess and selfishness and help me to become more giving and forgiving. Help me to become more like Jesus who came to earth to be a servant so that we might live with you. Amen God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26

Verses 11 and 12 both attribute characteristics to God such as glory, honor and might. How might you begin to mention God's greatness in your own prayers? Sometimes when I can't sleep at night I will start going through the alphabet with praise from each letter of the alphabet (although some letters are a challenge). I also have some cards with scriptures to praise God that I will use to incorporate into my prayers. I don't feel I pray in anyway enough every day. Where is this kind of praise found by example in the Lord's prayer? Hallowed be Thy Name. What are your favoite songs that point to God's greatness? I looked at the ones mentioned and love them all and would like to add Wealth and Honor (1 Chron. 29 :11and 12) by Integrity Scripture Memory (love it) And Can It Be Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing God Bless !! Jen Numbers 6:24-26

In what way does praise exalt God? It gives Him the honor and glory due His Holy Name from those whom He has redeemed from the pit and freed from the slavery of sin. Why should we exalt God? Because He is worthy and if we don't the rocks! will cry out because His Name WILL be praised on this earth. If we don't we are ungrateful, insensitive, and uncaring about what He has done for us. What does this exaltation do in us? It reminds us of who He is and who we are in Him and what He delivered us from and it puts in us a positive focus in a dark world. What does it say about us? That we love Him and desire to see His name glorified here as it is in heaven.

What does it mean to have a broken heart and spirit. I had to look up in the dictionary for a way to put into words broken heart. They have a definition for brokenhearted that I guess is as good as any: adj. suffering from great sorrow or disappointment. Why is this essential in the prayer for pardon? Its acknowledging before God the great suffering we have caused Him and our sorrow for it. In what sense is this sacrifice? It is the sacrifice of feeling great agony when we would rather resist because we are truly selfish. Why do we tend to resist a broken and contrite heart in ourselves? To protect ourselves, at His expense, from great pain. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26
-
In what way do our prayers of praise "bless" God? They express what He deserves and desires from His children. I am likening this to a broken heart overthose children who ignore and shun Him who gave Himself for us. What do we mere humans have that God desires in a blessing? A grateful heart What are prayers like that don't include blessing God? Selfish and ignorant of who He is and what He has done for us. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26

Q3. A Pure Heart
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 4. David's Prayer for Pardon and Confession of Sin (Psalm 51)
Is it possible to have a pure heart? Yes although here on this earth we still have a sin nature to guard against. How does God bring about a pure heart? Through the shed blood of Jesus, more precious than silver or gold. What is our part in this? To truly be sorry for our sin and repent and turn from our sin and accept God's offer of forgiveness when we confess. I believe our confessions come because we have a heart that has been made pure. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 -
Q2. Confession of Sin
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 4. David's Prayer for Pardon and Confession of Sin (Psalm 51)
In his prayer does David seek to minimize his sins? No To maximize them? David is simply voicing the awfulness of sin, any sin Why does an authentic prayer for pardon require clear unvarnished acknowledgement of sin to be effective? Otherwise we treat sin like it is nothing much and don't or won't comprehend the awfulness of it . It is just mouthing words hoping to avoid any consequences and to make ourselves feel better with a quick easy fix. There is no quick easy fix to sin. God does not take any sin lightly and the "slightest" sin separates us from God so it is not so slight as we would like to pass it off as. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 -
Q1. Prayer for Pardon
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 4. David's Prayer for Pardon and Confession of Sin (Psalm 51)
In what way does a prayer for pardon require faith? What is that faith based on? How does a person gain the faith to pray this prayer in confidence? You must believe that God is and that He will pardon if we confess because His Word says. The faith is based on His Word and if you don't read it or be with those who preach it you don't know. Its so important to read the Word in its entirety. You get the faith by reading the Word. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God Romans 10: 17). Then put into practice and pray in sincerety. God is so good to new believers in answering their prayers so they can see so their faith can increase. At least He did mine. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26 -
Q4. Persistence
Jen replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 3. Abraham's Prayer for Sodom (Genesis 18:16-33)
In what way does Abraham show persistence? Have you ever experienced prayng through? What was it like? Abraham didn't give up with the number 50. What if there were fewer? So he kept asking about fewer and fewer. He persisted because He cared about God (who is not willing that any should perish 2 Peter 3:9) and He cared about those righteous who would perish with the wicked. Today we need to be charitable towards those who are lost in wickedness as we once were and pray for them. Once when we were moving I knew some unbelievers whom I loved dearly ( in my own selfish way) and I laid with my face down and prayed for them until I found peace. I never saw the outcome to that prayer but I knew God put me in the situation for His purpose. He is to be trusted. Sometimes it is difficult for us to let go when we have prayed so hard and we want to see but He asks us to. We are to trust and obey. We need to pray for each other and each others children. Please God have mercy on us and on our children. God Bless! Jen Numbers 6:24-26
