  1. Q3. (2:9-11) Why does James refer to the Great Commandment as the "Royal Law"? How is it more "royal" than the Mosaic Law? How does showing favoritism toward a rich person break the "Royal Law" towards that rich person? How does it break the "Royal Law" in regard to a poor person? There is no higher law than to love your neighbors. If you have love for others how can anyone even think to do something against any of them? It was easy for Jesus to love others. Whether they are rich or poor, and we should do the same. Not to is sin.
  2. Q2. (2:4) In what way does favoritism make one a judge? How does favoritism make one a judge with "evil thoughts"? Our pride makes us judge. Favoritism is never a good thing. When you start thinking of a person or group of person as being better than others. Any time you turn yourself away from a certion person or group of people you are judging them. We need to love them the way Jesus loves them. Makes me sad to see how we react to differnt people.
  3. Q1. (2:1-3) What kind of person or what kind of sinner do you tend to discriminate against? What kind of people are you (or your church) trying to make a good impression on? I think most people try to disciminate against those that don't have as much as they do. Instead of trying to find out how they can help them. We don't take the time to think that it could be us. The only one I work at to impress is God. It really doesn't bother me that much what others think of me. As long as I work to stay in his will at all times it doesn't matter if anyone likes me or not
  4. Q4. (1:26-27) Why does James make taming the tongue and caring for the poor the prime tests of pure religion? Why not the quality of our quiet time or worship? The tongue may be a small member, but can cause so much destruction. By watching what we say and helping others with the love of Jesus shows others the love in us. Our quiet time and worship, is to build us up so that we can give others the love they need to see Jesus.
  5. Q3. What is this "perfect law" that James mentions? How would you define it? How does it relate to the "royal law" (2:8)? In what sense does it bring liberty? The perfect law to me is love. We are commanded to love one another Rom 13:8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. Rom 13:9 For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not bear false witness,"* "You shall not covet,"* and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."* Rom 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. When we learn to love others the way Christ loves us we full fill the perfect law. And doing so we become free from anything that holds us back from loving God and others.
  6. Q2. (1:22) Why are we so easily fooled into thinking that listening to Bible teaching means that we are living out righteous lives? What is the nature of the self-deception? Its easier to read or hear the word, than it is to learn to apply it to our lives. So we become foolish and following this world instead if trusting God. Luk 6:47 "Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: Luk 6:48 "He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.* Luk 6:49 "But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell.* And the ruin of that house was great."
  7. Q1. (1:18) In what sense are we given spiritual birth by the "word of truth"? What does spiritual life have to do with the Word? think the word can answer this better than my own words 1Pe 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1Pe 1:23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,* Everything starts with the word.
  8. Q4. (1:5-8) What is the promise to claim in verse 5? That he will give us wisdom if we ask for it Mat 7:7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Mat 7:8 "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. What is the condition attached to this promise in verse 6? If we ask without doubting, believing we will get it Mar 11:23 "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Mar 11:24 "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. How do trials help us receive this wisdom? Our trials help us to learn so we don't continue to make the same mistakes.
  9. Q3. (1:5-8) How do trials help cure us of "doublemindedness"? How do trials help us grow in faith? When we go through a trial, it will either streghten us or break us. If we keep our minds on Christ and what he has done for us its hard to choose to do the wrong things. Staying in prayer and reading his word will help our faith to grow
  10. Q2. (1:13-15) Why do people blame God for evil? I feel we blame God cause we don't want to take the blame ourselves. If we take the blame then we have to pay for the mistakes we have made. Why does he allow people to sin? Becuase he gave us all free will. He gave us the freedom to choose between doing whats right or wrong. He wanted us to choose to love him but sometimes we choose to do our own thing in stead. Does God tempt us with evil? Does he tempt sinful people with evil? it is satan that Temps us, but i do believe that God created evil Isa 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these [things]. Why does he allow evil to exist at all? He allows evil to happen becuase of free will. He allows things to happen so that we can grow closer to him and trust him more to take care of us.
  11. I think trials are of a lot of value cause they teach you how to handle things that come along in your life. How to trust God and become and overcomer so you can fight off anything that satan throws at you. I know that by allowing God to work on me and has made it easier for me to stand up and press on through any trial that comes my way. By staying in the word and in prayer I know i can stand up against anything. Cuase he is my strenght. The one i depend upon
  12. I think it has affected my life already because we are to live each day as if it is our last. So much prophecy has come to pass already that we are just waiting for it to finish. I want to do more for Jesus today than ever before learn his word and obey it. I would do a lot different if I knew the day and the hour one I would not be working a job for money that would be of no use to me. I would go out and tell as many as I could get to listen to me that Jesus is the son of God he is coming back very soon. we need to stand up as Peter and Paul did it cost them their lives and that is a small price to pay for one soul in heaven.
  13. We see that there are many sins listed in the scripture of which we are not able to let God see or we cannot go to where he is. He is not able to look upon sin. We are seen by God only through the blood of Jesus with him coming to earth as a baby preaching the word, dieing on the cross and rising again on the third day we would never be in the presents of the Amighty God. To live Holy and Rightous is important to God because he cannot look upon sin and we want to see him face to face and worship him.
  14. He sees his church as holy and pure. Clean and forgiven of all our sins. Ready to be joined with our groom. Ready to worship him the way he deserves to be worshiped.
  15. This is Jesus speaking to the ones that have been called to heaven with him. The gift of life is free. Jesus paid the price for all of us so the gift is free to us. The Spirit and the Bride are like that at a wedding they are the ones that send out the invitations to come and dine with them.
  16. It will be as it was in the beginning with Adam and Eve. God will walk with us and we will be able to talk with him and he will talk with us. There will be nothing to stop us from serving God and doing his total bidding at all times. It will be a personial relationship. Only in heaven can we live at peace with God he will wipe away our tears and we will have no more pain as long as we are not in heaven this will continue to go on.
  17. NKJV) John 5:24 " Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. (NKJV) Romans 8:16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, NKJV) John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: NKJV) Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, We are all given a measure of faith and with that faith through grace Jesus has forgiven us and we are not joint heirs with Jesus and shall reign with him forever nothing or no one can take your faith from you. It is your free will to except or not except and I except and believe the word of God.
  18. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Almighty God and we are to have fear of God and not of man. The judgment is final it is not something we can change or help others to change it is the end of everything and we will be with Jesus forever. We resist the idea of final judgment because we do not want to think of leaving anyone behind and we ourselves do not want to stand before the Almighty God. we think of him in mercy and kindness not as a judge that is hard for our minds us being human to conceive.
  19. He is the Lord of Lord there is none higher than him he is the King of Kings becase he is the only true King the son of the living God. It makes my heart leap with joy at the though that he came to earth to die for me and was buried and ovecame death to rise again to return to the right hand of God. What a blessing it is to have him as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords in my life today. The world around me should know that every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and without him there is no hope.
  20. Admonished by know that there are so many that I see each day and do not speak of our Lord to them. The Lord placed a calling on each of us to go and tell the world of him and still there is the postman the people we see each day and only say hello too. And never have I told them one thing about our Lord so sad the way we go about our lives and let so many opportunities pass us by to witness for Jesus. It is uplifting and a joyous time to know we will be with Jesus and never again have pain or sorrow in our lives we shall rule and reign with him forever and that is the promise he has given to us. I look forward to that day and pray come Lord Jesus just as the word tells us to do.
  21. We are not to be a part of the sin of this world but we are to live in this world until we are called home by our Lord or the rapture. We are not to pertake in the sins that are going on and all that is evil in this world. We need to separate ourselves from the sin and tell other about Jesus this is our calling. We are Holy and Righteous only through the blood of Jesus and that is why we are called saints of God and we live in this world to lead others to the truth.
  22. We know that Christ is worthy of all Praise and songs are a form of Praise. Even the angels sing praises unto him. He is worthy of all Priase and and we shall sing his praises forever . He is worthy of all Priase and and we shall sing his praises forever. Victory is mine, Holy Holy Holy, Holy Ground. He is Exalted, I Exalt Thee, Lord, be Glorified, How Great Thou Art, Blessed be the Name of Jesus, Be Glorified, What a Mighty God we serve, Joy unspeakable
  23. Its difficult for us Christians to believe that a God of love would send us into eternal punishment. Its difficult for us Christians to believe that a God of love would send us into eternal punishment.
  24. The only ones (144,00) that were redeemed were able to sing a new song and they where undefiled by women. Christians to emulate because they gave us a glimpse of the greatness to be an overcomer and to be faithful to the Lord. They were pure and were walking the walk of their talk. They lived what they preached. It was all for God.
  25. hi, My name is Mary. I am from Oklahoma. I didn't take time to do this at te start of these lessons on Revelations. I have enjoyed the study so far. This is my first time trying something like this. I ahve read through revelations not to many months before this started. But this time I am actually getting something out of it. For I am a slow learner. But love to read his word. God bless, Mary
