  1. Hello. My name is Al and I live in Ohio. Glad to be aboard and looking forward to some great interaction
  2. Jesse is the father of David. That he will be the stump that will bear the Davidic line of the Messiah. The attributes are: 1)Wisdom 2)understanding 3)counsel 4)Power/might 5)Knowledge of Yahweh 6)Fear of the Lord He will judge the needy with righteousness. With justice he will give decisions for the poor. ...He will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be His belt and faithfulness will be His sash. The poor and the needy are the victims.
  3. Because he is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. He will reign on David's throne. Telling of a future time. that the "Spirit of counsel" will rest upon the Messiah(Wonderful Counselor) This Child is identified with Yahweh himself (Mighty God) That this Child, this Son, will be divine -- he is very closely identified with Yahweh himself(Everlasting Father) He, the child,is the chief bringer of reconciliation, peace, fulfillment, and wholeness. He is the master of this realm. If you want this kind of all-encompassing peace, you come to him.(Prince of Peace) the one I need right now in my life is Wonderful Counselor.
  4. They become a stumbling block and a snare to those who do not place their trust in Yahweh(the Messiah) and do not surrender to God. They are broken by receiving the punishment from God for their disobedience from not following God. We stumble because we seek strength from other people who are not Christians instead of going to the Father for guidance and strength in order too be obedient follower of God. Also, because we feel that we can do it ourselves.
  5. Ahaz was told to keep the faith, and watch what God does. But, he evidently did not have a strong faith and thought that he should take the bull by the horns, so to speak, and deal with the attackers as he saw fit. Reminds me of the lack of faith of the Israelites as they felt they were trapped at the red sea before the Lord parted the waters and kept pharaoh from getting to them. The complaining and the moaning that went on. Maybe Ahaz felt that he was the one who was King that it was his job to protect the people. An ego thing. Ahaz took the silver and gold that was in the temple of the Lord and the treasuries of the royal palace and gave them to the king of Assyria to come and fight Israel an Syria. That Judah would become Assyrias' vassal. Ahaz kinda paid off the Assyrian king Tiglath-Pileser to come to his aid now that Judah would be theirs. King Tligath-Pileser was only protecting his own interest. The consequences for Ahazs' disobedience would be that Judah, short of complete destruction, would be destroyed. We tend to think that we need to protect or step in to take over and handle things because we feel that we can and that this is our job. It takes a strong faith to be obedient and to let God be God. I sometimes wonder how strong my faith is. It can be a real test. That's why it is so important to stay in the word. Sometimes it is hard to do what God wants us to do because it is so far from the natural thing. It would be a supernatural thing and we would only benefit from stepping aside and seeing God at work.
  6. Isaiah is overcome by his own sense of smallness, unworthiness and sinfulness. God cleansed his lips and his guilt is taken away and his sin atoned for. The voice of the Lord saying who will I send and who will go for us. Here I am. Send me. I will make myself available to His calling.
  7. the Vintners vision was that the crops would yield good grapes by clearing the area, putting a hedge around it to keep the animals out. When the crop came in it was rotten and reeked. Not good for anything. The Vintner said he would tear it down remove the hedge of protection from it and reduce the walls to rubble where nothing worth anything would grow. It means that the nation would not be worth anything as it turned from God and followed the sinful course that it was on. It (Judah)would be taken over by the Assyrian army and Jerusalem would fall to the Babylonian army.
  8. That all people will come to know the one true God, Jews and Gentiles That there will be a widespread huger for God's word and that the people are seeking the one true God and their desire to obey and walk in His ways. Disputes were settled by wars and the strongest pushed their laws and ways on those captured. But now the King will rule and He will settle disputes and there will be no need for weapons anymore.
  9. For everyone will know about the true God. Their will be a widespread hunger for God's word an His way and seek His way and obey Him and desire to walk in His ways. Disputes were settled by war and the strongest nation pushed their beliefs and ways on the captured nation. But the time will come when Yahweh, the High King will settle disputes and we will no longer need weapons for war.
  10. 1a. God reared his children to obey His commands and statutes and they rebelled and became wicked. 1b. the consequences are being out of right relationship with God. Will not have prayers answered as God will turn His back on them. Much of what is happening today to America. 1c. Injustices are doing evil and being unjust. Not taking care of the widows and orphans, etc. 1d. Unreasonable as they continue doing their own thing instead of what God wants them doing. Living the opposite of how God wants them to live. 1e. God's alternative is forgiveness and a chance to receive His blessings again by reaping the benefits of the land.
