  1. Paul as the spiritual father to Timothy needs to remind his son in the faith about the coming "falling away" of some who would entertain false teachings so that he will not be surprised or overwhelmed. The effect of false teaching is division and strife but if the church is forewarned of the things that's going to happen in the coming days helped them hold steadfastly in the truth and keep them established.
  2. Mark 11:25 speaks about forgiveness to those who have sinned against you and Matthew 5:26-27 is about settling matters quickly with your adversary (v.26)and about adultery (v.27).This verses speaks about taking all the necessary steps or action to preserve the "peace" within oneself (conscience) and with others. In relation to Paul's teaching on one loaf (one body), we must take all efforts to preserve the unity of the believers. Humility and putting others first before yourself is the key to preserving unity
  3. The "cup of blessing" is a service of worship and blessing towards God and not to us. It is a feast in remembrance of his grace and mercy towards us. It is God that is the central focus of the feast and therefore He is the one to be blessed when the "cup of blessing" is lifted up.
  4. Paul's emphasizing salvation of all mankind to the Ephesian Church because it is God's very purpose and desire that all men maybe saved. This was written to remind the Ephesian church who tend to become "ethnocentric".
  5. What is the significance of the 12 Apostles drinking the Cup of the Covenant? The 12 Apostles drinking the Cup of the Covenant signifies the leaders/elders of the twelve tribes of Israel who ratifies the Old Covenant when they ate and drunk in the presence of God. What is the significance of us drinking the Cup of the Covenant? When we drink the cup of the covenant we proclaim the Lord's death until he comes
  6. The difference between the promised New Covenant from the Old Covenant is that God was obviously the one who initiated the promise (verse 33), the "I wills". In the Old covenant, man will provide the sacrifice, while in the New covenant God himself provided the sacrifice. The promises God made in the New Covenant in Jer. 31:33,34 "I will put the law in their minds and write it in their hearts. I will be their God and they will be my people. I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more". Our responsibilities in the New Covenant is to accept God's provision of sacrifice, JESUS as an atoning sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins.
  7. Q1, What do we learn....He is King eternal, immortal, invicible, the only GOD Q2,What do we learn about praise?........praise is an outcome expression of our gratitude to what God has done to "US" as sinners Q3, Have you tried....... YES!!! Q4, What effect.......... it reminds the speaker of God's grace and mercy towards him/her and his faithfullness to those who love him
  8. Results on the teaching of false doctrine in the Ephesian Church are: 1. Some have wandered away from the truth 2. They turned to meaningless talks 3. It causes dis-unity among the believers Doctrinal controversy causes heated arguments and if not treated right away could lead to disunity and strife. It prevents growth because those people who are involved oftentimes have very manipulative spirit and are driven by pride. They would resort to divisive tactics in order to gain audience/followers and when they have gained the trust of those they have lured they will then threaten those in the authority that could lead to division of the body. Such cases happened in so many churches and this is a backlash to the mission of the Body of Christ (Church)
  9. Personally this instruction of Paul to the women doesn't cause any worry for me because I grew up in a country where society is matriarchal in so many aspects, but t doesn't mean that I should ignore such instruction. I was just blessed to grew up in a church where women are regarded with equality with the men when it comes to "calling" and "gifting" . Me and my husband are partners in the ministry where I teach and He preaches.
  10. The Purpose of the Passover meal is to instill in the hearts of the Jews what God had done to them from Egypt and unto the promise land.It was instituted by God as a memorial from generation to generation. If the Jews had stopped remembering the Exodus, their identity as a nation loved by God had never been written in the history of mankind because they could have perished
  11. There is a risk if a person who partake in it doesn't fully understand the reason what and why he/she's doing it.Basically it is the Pastor/leaders responsibility to teach the significance of this ordinance to their congregations to prevent the risk of doing it as mere rituals.
  12. As I dig deeper into the story of the Last supper, the betrayal, the denial and the washing of the feet, all this is a humbling and thought provoking experience for me, Every facets of this story is impregnated with meaning that no words can contain how I feel....ah yes, I thirst for more of you (JESUS).
  13. There is a tendency to focus on the substance instead of the one who instituted it and on the other side there is a tendency to look at the ordinance as a mere religious ritual with no significance at all. The balance is from the words of Jesus and I quote"Do this in remembrance of me"
