margaret955
Q1. (Luke 17:21) In what sense was the Kingdom of God present in the Person and ministry of Jesus? In what sense is the Kingdom of God present today? The Kingdom of God is within your heart within oneself and the teachings of what Jesus was yet to teach. The Kingdom of God in present day is not unsimilar to those of Jesus Day,we still have to abide in the Holy law that God has written and we as desciples of Christ must carry God's word to unbelievers and sinners the world over.he has sent the Holy spirit to cleanse us and we must shine in his light AMEN

In what sense is the Kingdom of God present today? In His love towards all the people He came into contact with. Pearl
Q1. (Luke 17:21) In what sense was the Kingdom of God present in the Person and ministry of Jesus? In what sense is the Kingdom of God present today? It was present in Jesus in that He taught people how to live the life that God had for them. The Kingdom within is a changing of our thoughts. The more that we receive God's Word, the more we know how to live in the Kingdom. It is present in that we can live in it right now if we are willing and obedient. Craig
Q1. (Luke 17:21) In what sense was the Kingdom of God present in the Person and ministry of Jesus? In what sense is the Kingdom of God present today? Jesus being the Son of God descended from Heaven, incarnate in human flesh, was the embodiment of the Kingdom of God. Jesus' ministry reflected Kingdom priorities and values. The Kingdom of God today is present in the same way. That is, presented through born again believer/followers of Jesus Christ filled with the Holy Spirit living out Kingdom priorities in a dark world -- displacing evil with the light of Jesus Christ. FORWARD FELEX
Q1. (Luke 17:21) In what sense was the Kingdom of God present in the Person and ministry of Jesus? In what sense is the Kingdom of God present today? To me, Jesus was trying to make the scribes, the pharisees, aware of His presence. The pharisees were doubting whether Jesus was Lord. Jesus wanted to let them know that truly He is God; the sense that the kingdom is "among you". Today, we testify the kingdom in many ways. Through miracles, through victory, through rewards and everything that gives us courage, we acknowledge that God is present. The kingdom is our spirit. When we choose to do good, we are guided by the Spirit of God. That's how the kingdom is present among us today.

In what sense is the Kingdom of God present today? The Kingdom of God was present in the Person and ministry of Jesus in the sense that the Kingdom is His domain and where He is there is the Kingdom of God. marks
Jesus compares the kingdom of God to the lightning which lights up the sky from one end of heaven to the other. This is the power he says is within us in Luke 17:20. And he contrasts it to vultures feeding on a dead carcass - the false prophets. Matt 24:23-
marks
In your lesson 4 you dispute the notion that "The Kingdom is essentially God's Reign in the individual soul" saying that the teaching is not found elsewhere in the Gospels. But what does John 17:20-24 say?

andyho1
Q1. (Luke 17:21) In what sense was the Kingdom of God present in the Person and ministry of Jesus? In what sense is the Kingdom of God present today? The Kingdom of God is present in the Person and ministry of Jesus since the kingdom is among you which is explained in lesson 4, that Jesus said the kingdom was present among them in Jesus himself. That the kingdom had already begun as Jesus teaches, gathers disciples, and exercises God's authority here on earth. Also in Matthew and Luke " If I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you (Matthew 12:28, " If I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you." (Luke 11:20) The kingdom of God , Jesus is saying, is not only a future reality. The Kingdom is present now in his very Person and will be fully revealed in the future. Les A101
In what sense was the Kingdom of God present in the Person and ministry of Jesus? In His Person by whom He was, in His ministry as He was in the Father's will. As He walked (lived), through His teachings, His kindness, His love, His compassion, His healing etc... In what sense is the Kingdom of God present today? Today is by His Spirit, through vessels that yield to Him, that adhere to Him. Just as it was then so it is now, this passage of Scripture does not indicate a physical kingdom. A kingdom that has its throne in the heart of those who receive Him, those who yield their hearts to Christ Jesus.

Gerbrand van Schalkwyk
In what sense was the Kingdom of God present in the Person and ministry of Jesus? Jesus came to restore God's Kingdom on earth. Just like a King taking over new or lost territory. To claim territory as your own a King had to have a representative in the new territory. When Jesus was on earth He Himself represented God on earth. This was before Jesus restored the Kingdom on earth because He has not yet defeated death. So the Kingdom was just present in Jesus Himself while He did the preparation to defeat death. In what sense is the Kingdom of God present today? After jesus defeated death He gave us the Holy Spirit. He 1st restored the earthly territory back into the Kingdom of God Then He gave us a Representative to ensure that the territory remains in God's Hand. All of us are now also representatives of God when we accepts Christ as our Saviour.
pickledilly
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” [Matthew 3:2] was John the Baptist’s message to prepare Israel for the appearance of their Messiah. Jesus confirmed this by delivering the very same message at the onset of His ministry [Matthew 4;17; Mark 1:14-15]. The Kingdom of God came to earth in the Person of Jesus Christ and was displayed in His ministry. He essentially taught us that the Way, the Truth, and the Life of God is the Kingdom. Now Christ is in heaven with the Father, but His Spirit is sent to live within every believer. Redeemed human beings have been made vessels of the divine presence on earth. This is the Kingdom of God here today. This Kingdom will be fully revealed and manifest when Christ the King returns to reign over His entire creation in His full Sovereignty and Authority. jacquie7
Jesus’ being in the midst of the people, Himself was the Kingdom of God in His person and ministry, present before the people. brycle
The presence of God’s kingdom in Jesus life can be observed in contrast to the long established culture of the pharisees. Jesus preached and personified self sacrifice, humility and serving others. He brought a message all about inward change opposed to outward appearance. In many ways, the Kingdom of God is present today in the lives of individuals and in communities throughout the world. However, it is still at odds with the dominating belief system based upon building up one’s own empire and looking after one’s own interests. tgandy
I feel the Kingdom of God was present in the Person and the ministry of Jesus in that Jesus is part of the Triune God and He knew the Kingdom of God. Therefore his ministry was about the Kingdom and how to live in eternity with God. today the Kingdom of God I feel is within each of us as we allow it to be. Depending on our faith and how strong we believe our lives reflect the Kingdom of God.
Ernie's Son
Three passages (Lu. 11:20; Mt. 12:28; Lu. 17:20b-21) are considered. Jesus has been accused by the Pharisees of driving out demons by demonic power. Jesus response is, "If I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you" (Lu. 11:20). The other passage is, "If I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you" (Mt. 12:28). At this point in time, "the Kingdom had already come by the time Jesus cast out demons" (Dr. Wilson); therefore, the Kingdom was present in Jesus. The other text has Jesus being asked about the time when the Kingdom will come. His response was "The Kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the Kingdom of God is within you" (Lu. 17:20b-21). The Pharisees were looking for a Kingdom but had no idea that they were talking to the King of the Kingdom. The Kingdom of God was among them in the person of Jesus Christ. MosesSole
On 9/16/2010 at 2:40 PM, Pastor Ralph said: Q1. (Luke 17:21) In what sense was the Kingdom of God present in the Person and ministry of Jesus? In what sense is the Kingdom of God present today? Perhaps I misunderstood what the Kingdom of God was, which I believed to be life in Heaven. According to the notes however, information seems to be saying that the Kingdom is the belief in Jesus and his teaching of God's Word. So it's more a spiritual world that resides in a believer once they have accepted Christ as Savior. This kingdom is present in every believer that abides by God's word by worshipping His laws, His scriptures and praying, abstaining from sinning and repenting. Is Kingdom of God different from the Kingdom of Heaven?
