FORWARD FELEX
Q2. (Luke 17:22-24) What do Jesus' words about lightning teach us about the nature of the coming of his Kingdom? Lightning is associated with God's power and majesty, God the Father sent His Son, who is the "light" of the world, Jesus came to be a "light" to the Gentile people, "light" is a symbol of holiness, purity, and righteousness, the word lighting is teaching us, the nature of the coming Kingdom "is holiness". Lightning flashes with great light intensity. Because it happens high in the sky, it is seen in a large area. The sense that Jesus will come like lightning flashing in the sky tells us that jesus will not be revealed to one person or one group at His coming. He will be seen by the whole universe. The heaven and all the earth will see Him. However, there is something that worries me about His coming: lightning is there for a short time. Will Jesus be there for a short time? How about those who will be inside the buildings? Won't they see Him?

marks
If you've ever been in a thunderstorm and seen a massive lightning bolt strike up in the sky with a clap of thunder - it is absolutely magnificent and if you are rarely filled with a sense of awe - at this moment you certainly will be. He's saying that breathtaking majestic power is inside of us - the kingdom - and it is stunning.

pickledilly
Jesus revealed to us that His return will be as unexpected and sudden and attention-getting as the electrifying flash of lightning across the sky! I cannot help but think of the descriptions of His face in scripture. In his vision, Daniel [10:6] says it had the “appearance of lightning”. At His transfiguration, Jesus’ face shone like the sun [Matthew 17:2]. At the resurrection, “His appearance was like lightning” [Matthew 28:3]. In Revelation 1:14,17 John described Christ’s eyes as being like a flame of fire and His face like the sun shining at full strength. Think of such an image of the One who created the fierce energy of lightning with its electromagnetic waves, pulses, and fields from His own character! His return will be brilliant, dazzling, fearsome, intense, raw, pure, majestic power. We should not be alarmed or consumed by reports or guesses about the Messiah’s appearing. It will be unmistakable and the world will not be able to ignore it!

Jesus words about lightning teaches us that the nature of the coming kingdom is going to be powerful and majesty. Lightning is very bright, powerful and destructive. jacquie7
His return will not be by word of mouth; all will know it without having to be told because He is going to make Himself visible to both believers and unbelievers. Just as lightning strikes in the sky, when Jesus returns He is going to be visible and intentional, and all will see it. I believe that His return is going to be sudden, fierce, and take many people by surprise, like Sodom and Gomorrah.
brycle
Lightening is sudden, dramatic, intimidating, startling. This perhaps suggests that the coming of the kingdom will shock many. It will be unpredictable and will take people by surprise, they won’t be ready or prepared. It won’t remain hidden or go unnoticed. Just as lightening lights up a dark sky, the coming of the kingdom will make a bold entrance onto the world stage, penetrating the darkness in brilliance and power. tgandy
When we see lightening we see it from great distances and it lights up a big area. When Jesus come ALL will see and know.
Ernie's Son
There are a number of things that make lightning unmistakable: the sure sense of the power displaced; its brilliance; the covering of the sky; its quickness; and who doesn't know what lightning is? As if lightning, the coming of His kingdom will be. Jesus told the Disciples that they were not to go from place to place as reports would say, "There he is!" or "There he is!" for the Son of Man, on His day, will be like lightning--"everyone will see Him."
