The two parables speak of finding something of such great value that you would give all you have to obtain it. They both stress the superlative value of the kingdom and that a person should be willing to part with everything in order to possess the kingdom, as Jesus requested of the rich young ruler. (Luke 18:22)

The meaning could also be that Jesus is the purchaser who purchased our salvation with His own blood. (Acts 20:28)

We should first seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness

Q1. (Matthew 13:44-46) What do the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price have in common? What is the main point of these parables? How should it affect our values? Our lives?

Both of these parables of Jesus speak to the giving up of what is currently possesed to acquire that which is of a far greater value. They speak of the recognition of that which is of a greater value by the "great joy" experienced by the finder. The main point of these parables is that the sell off of the temporal sinful pleasures of this life for the fullness of life in Christ, both and now and after death, is a wise, prudent and fruitful decision. Making a decision of this magnitude should affect our values and our lives in every way. Passions and priorities should all become subject to acquiring and maintaining this treasure as well as leading others to finding it.

Q1. (Matthew 13:44-46) What do the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price have in common? What is the main point of these parables? How should it affect our values? Our lives?

The Kingdom of Heaven is more valuable than anything else we can have, and a person must be willing to give up everything to obtain it. The man who discovered the treasure in the field stumbled upon it by accident but knew its value when he found it. The merchant was earnestly searching for the pearl of great value, and when he found it, he sold everything he had to purchase it.

The treasure of the kingdom. We don't find it. It finds us and buys us. But once we are found and bought, we are willing to give it our complete and total devotion.

What do the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price have in common?

That the immense value of the kingdom far outweighs any sacrifice, inconvenience or prized earthly entity be it through encounter or obtainment.

What is the main point of these parables?

Regardless of stature, or ability, regardless of how a person is led to the kingdom of Christ, Christ's kingdom, it's values, it's obtainment is beyond estimation, beyond comparison.

How should it affect (have an effect on / influence)our values?

Being that we cannot take anything with us upon the first death (cessation with breath), the Believers thought process should be in line even more so with that of Christ. Our values should not solely be upon temporal obtainment(s), riches.

How should it affect (have an effect on / influence) our lives?

Our lives should be that as were that of His closest disciples, that is by His leadership, tutelage live according to His will. When we falter seek His forgiveness and have a godly repentance. By His grace (empowerment) to follow His commandments and be the witness whereby He will say well done thy good and faithful servant.

What do the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price have in common?

In both of these stories someone finds something of the greatest value and sells EVERYTHING they have to be able to purchase that treasure.

What is the main point of these parables?

I think the main point is that we are willing to give up everything aand take that treasure of the salvation of Christ Jesus. We can not just remain as we are, we have to take that step.

How should it affect our values?

Our values should be above board, willing to deal with all things we do in a Godly manner.....we have been bought by a price.

Our lives?

I think we should live our lives in love and service to Him.

They both speak of something of value that we would give all to posses it. That the Kingdom of God should be the greatest treasure we could posses, it is something we should seek to be more like the Savior everyday. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness all these things shall be added unto you. Seek the heart and soul of Jesus and be about the Saviors business of winning the lost at any cost. Jesus needs to be first and foremost in our lives nothing between my soul and the Savior, keep myself clear and sin confessed daily moment by moment, be aware of His presence moment by moment, day by day striving to please Him.

Q1. (Matthew 13:44-46) What do the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price have in common? What is the main point of these parables? How should it affect our values? Our lives?

What do the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price have in common?

1) Both the treasure and the pearl were FOUND

2) Both were very very valuable

3) Both cost the finders they had to sell everything in order to buy what they found

4) The value was exceedingly much greater

5) The finders experienced great joy

What is the main point of these parables? The main point of the parables is that when you come across such a valuable find, it is worth selling everything, sparing nothing just to own it or sell it for a greater profit. The gift of salvation is so valuable that nothing in this world can match it. At the same time, we are also so precious to God that he sacrificed his one and only beloved son to buy us.

How should it affect our values? Our lives?

Values - As Christians we should see our salvation as a gift which is worth much more than everything we possess in this world - our jobs, wealth, belongings, plans, attitudes and even our family members. Nothing we possess in this world should take the place of Jesus in our lives, not even our spouses, children or parents who are dear to us.

Our lives - It will cost us. Our lives should never be the same once we become Christians. Our lives should be changed and transformed to reflect the joy of having Jesus in our lives. In order for transformation to take place, we have to make every effort to go through the scriptures and understand them to find the treasures.

We must also be prepared to lay down our lives just as Jesus laid down his life for us in exchange for our salvation, which is infinitely valuable.

Q1. (Matthew 13:44-46) What do the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price have in common?

The riches, the benefits of the Kingdom are so great, that we who understand its value, are more than willing to give our all, it is such a bargain.

Q. What are the main point of these parables - how should it affect our values - and our lives? The main point is, we who have come to understand the value of God’s riches are found in God’s great Pearl, his Son, are more than willing to give all we have, as God has asked us to do, such a deal, with the affect on our lives being seen in our obedience to God the Father, by keeping His commandments with hearts full of love and appreciation, who’s values have been changed, for now they are based on the great value of God’s great Pearl.

Q1. (Matthew 13:44-46) What do the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price have in common? What is the main point of these parables? How should it affect our values? Our lives?

Both parables are used by Jesus to indicate that to attain entry into the Kingdom of Heaven is worth inestimably more than everything we possess in this life . . . whether it be a little, as in the case of the man who finds a treasure buried in a field . . . or a lot, as in the case of the merchant who finds a pearl of great value.

I notice that in both instances the finders of the valuable items go immediately and sell everything they have in order to acquire the item of great value. To both men the prize is worth surrendering everything they already have. Both men recognize a bargain when they see one, a bargain that will change their lives forever! That bargain is of course eternal life through the death and resurrection of Jesus on our behalf.

So, the point of these parables is that the Kingdom of God is the ultimate prize, the goal for which we should strive and joyfully give all our earthly resources to attain.

Our value system as Christians should be such that we care more for our salvation than for earthly treasure. After all, you can't take it with you when you leave this life.

Q1. (Matthew 13:44-46) What do the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price have in common? What is the main point of these parables? How should it affect our values? Our lives?

In the two parables, both men found something valuable and were willing to sacrifice everything they own i.e. sell off their entire possession, in order to obtain it.

The main point of these parables is that when we find something valuable, we are willing to sacrifice and risk everything we have to possess it. There is a cost involved.

The implication of these two parables for our values and lives are that now that we have discovered the Kingdom of God, we must sacrifice everything in order to obtain it. The cost is to take up our cross daily, leaving our sins behind and reaching towards the goal of eternal life with our Father.

Q1. (Matthew 13:44-46) What do the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price have in common? What is the main point of these parables? How should it affect our values? Our lives?

Jesus is our great Treasure and Pearl of Great Price. Only He has worth and all else is our downfall if we are content and never receive Him. We give up everything to have Him. We should live for Him and rejoice that we have found the Treasure, our eternal life with Jesus, the One who loves us, who gives us life. "In Him we live and move and have our being" and there is no other.

God Bless!

Q1. (Matthew 13:44-46) What do the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price have in common? What is the main point of these parables? How should it affect our values? Our lives?

The hidden treasure, and Pearl of great price, both have in common the fact that they were so valuable, that they could not be bought by just anyone and they were prized beyond anything imaginable. People do not sell all they have for just any treasure, but these two treasures were of such great value and so rare that they were priceless, just as the Kingdom of God is priceless and worth everything you own here on earth.

The main point of these parables is to get through to people that certain things are so valuable, that to own them is to be secure in everything, the people who found these two treasures knew the value of them, and were willing to give everything they owned to obtain them. These two treasures that Jesus talks about, are just a small example of what he was really talking about and that being the Kingdom of God which is the treasure of all treasures.

It should affect our lives in such a way, as to distance ourselves from earthly treasures and focus on receiving the most valuable treasure of all, that being the Kingdom of God and spending eternity there. We must try to conquer our love for material wealth here on earth and focus our treasure hunting on obtaining Gods Kingdom and his gift of eternal life there in his Kingdom with him forever.

It should affect our lives in such a way, that we will become a beacon shining in the night and everyone will see, and want this valuable treasure which we have received from God because we realized it's value and turned our focus towards obtaining the treasure of Gods Kingdom, instead of obtaining more treasures here on earth.

Q1. (Matthew 13:44-46) What do the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price have in common? What is the main point of these parables? How should it affect our values? Our lives?

I think the main point Jesus is making is that in order to enter the HIS Kingdom and gain salvation and eternal life, we must be willing to DO WHATEVER it takes!! The kingdom is more valuable then any worldly possession or relationship we have.Jesus want to be very FIRST in our life's! Above ALL EARTHLY things. In the parable of the hidden Pearl the man finds the pearl and buries it very deep so no one will find it. Then to secure it even more he spends everything he has to buy the field so he will never lose the treasure. In the same way we should be so protectant of our relationship with Our Lord..never let go of our grip and willing to do whatever it take to hold on.. even giving up EVERYTHING we have to keep the prize! Do not put earthly possessions or relationships BEFORE Christ, our relationship with Christ should come FIRST always! In the parable of the rich young man, whom Jesus loves and wants to save, he cannot because the man is lost to possessions of this EARTHLY world. Not willing to give up his earthly treasure to obtain an even greater, the ultimate treasure, a relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus. He is to attached to his worldly possessions and think they are more important then the salvation and grace of our Lord and Savior JESUS! What the two parables have in common is both men have found the prize! Ultimately, only one man is willing to do what it takes to keep it and to secure eternal life and salvation. The other is not. The rich young man

walks away and choses his OWN EARTHLY treasure, more then the ultimate treasure of salvation and grace with our Lord Christ Jesus!!

The parables should affect our values in the sense that we must value our relationship with God. And make whatever sacrifices it takes to secure, and protect it from the ravages of this earthly place, we must live in the spiritual realm with Jesus as our ONLY Master, let NOTHING or NO ONE come between us and our relationship with GOD!

What they have in common is a person that gives up everything they have to come into the possession of something of much greater value. . .

The main point of these parables is there is something of greater value than our temporal fleshly lives - which is eternal life in the presence of the All Mighty God - and it is well worth giving up the lesser for the greater.

We should put everything in the proper sequence - that is, putting God first. . .

When we find a Pearl or something of value, we strive to own it. You can be rich by what you have but still be poor in spirit. If you are poor in spirit you have nothing...Jesus is our PEARL and we should strive to live our lives for Him. With Him we have everything... Without Him we have nothing....This I believe is the main point of thses parables. By striving for Jesus we are living God's Word. When we put money above salvation we are a fallen nation. That is what has happened here in the United States. We have put Jesus at the back of our country and we are falling further and further behind. Once we start to put Jesus first we will turn our nation back to the stong hold it once was...You notice I said Jesus, not God. 85% of Americans believe in God, But only a hand full of those believe in Jesus....Think about that and reply if you would. I would like to hear what others say about this...
