Viliame
Although Moses is part of Egypt's ruling class,he knows that he belongs with the oppressed Hebrews- that they are his people. He felt empathy for them but he lacks their support.I think the Hebrews are looking forward to a Deliverer rather than a 'judge' like Moses. He had the heart for his people but he acted alone without any help from God.

Chaplain Michelle
While we see that Moses values peacefulness and justice, he ruins his reputation and trust with his people by demonstrating a lack of self-control. I feel he wanted to demonstrate love and protection to his people by killing the Egyptian, then by encouraging the two Hebrews to not fight amongst themselves. He did not seek God's Face in the situation first and he did not lead by example. Moses ended up having to flee to Midian because Pharaoh set out to kill him. Josie
Q1. (Exodus 2:11-15a) What do we learn about Moses’ motivations, character, and leadership ability from the incident of him killing the cruel Egyptian taskmaster? What positive things do you see in his character? What negative things do you discern? Positive: He's observant, aware of injustice, desires to stop injustice and is willing to do something about it. Negative: He's impulsive, and maybe more focused on the tree (one Egyptian beating a man) instead of the forest (the system in place which allows the Egyptians to cruelly mis-treat Israelites). Moses needed to seek counsel.

BIGGRIZZ
Moses sees something he beelieves is unjust and after checking to make sure he is not being watched proceeds to unjustly kill the Egyptian as punishment for unjustly beating the Hebrew worker. He is acting as judge and jury without considering alternatie solutions. He has the ability to make decisions and take action as he sees fit--but he is not a leader makes sure no observors does not consider alternatives does not seek opinions of others as to what action to take
Raph
Moses hated wrongs, evils. He was quick to react, not knowing the consequences of his quick decision and reaction. He did not react as a leader. Even after his reaction which I think he expected the Hebrews to be grateful to him; he is questioned as who he thinks he is? He is frightened and runs for his life. The positive things I learnt from this incident is the hate of evil and the sympathy to victims. The negative thing is the decision to take justice into ones hand without following the prescribed procedures.

Marloes
Q1. (Exodus 2:11-15a) What do we learn about Moses' motivations, character, and leadership ability from the incident of him killing the cruel Egyptian taskmaster? What positive things do you see in his character? What negative things do you discern? Moses' motivation here is anger. Apparently he has no self control. At this time, it would make him a bad bad leader -
Noke
Moses can be regarded here as a quick to react person, not conscious of the consequences. He is protective of his fellow tribesmen. He is a no-nonsense, unforgiving type of character. Positive things about him: He doesnt relinquish his nationality. He is quick to make decisions. He is a strong man. Negetive things: He is reactive rather than being responsive. He is violent.

linda bass
I believe Moses motivation for killing the cruel Egyptian taskmaster was that he identified with those being oppressed. Eventho raised as a son of Pharoah, his mother Jochebed? probably taught Moses about his Hebrew heritage. The negative part is that Moses acted impulsely and out of anger. The positive part is he was willing to identify with his fellow Hebrews.
