Old Jerry
The Ark of the Holy of Holies is where the high priest went into once a year for the atonement of the sins for the people. It represented the place where God is and it was considered holy because God was in there. The reason that it was so important is because God
Stan
Q2. (Exodus 25:10-22) What is the significance of the Ark in the Holy of Holies? What did it represent? Why was it considered so holy? If no one really sat upon it, why was it so important? It was the dwelling place of God with man. Where He met with Moses and gave instruction for the people. It was Holy because it was where God sent His Spirit to speak to the people through Moses, it also contained the 10 Commandents, and later Aarons staff that budded. It was important because God had said that it was Here He would sit and judge the people and be their King. Goshener
Answering to Q 3:It is significant for it is the place where Moses put the commandments which God gave to him and is also the place where God talks and/or give His decrees to Moses for the Israelites. It did represent the holy, dwelling place of God with His people at that time and is used as the worship place for the Israelites. It is so holy as I wrote above, it can still show the surrender of Israelites to God that HE is the only true God whom they offer their sacrifices, bless and praise His Holy Name. Though no one sat upon, it is still important for it is the throne of God and whoelse will be greater or more important than God.

Eudora
What is the significance of the Ark in the Holy of Holies? That God is the Holiest, the One True God, whom above there is no other. What did it represent? The heart of Yahwey. Why was it considered so holy? This is where the heart of Yahwey dwelled. If no one really sat upon it, why was it so important? It is the mercy seat where the blood was shed. Look at John 20: 11-12 and you see what Mary saw. The mercy seat where Yahwey met the High Priest ,Yahushua. But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. The whole of the book of Hebrews has been so confusing to many because they do not know that it was written by a priest. Anyone who studies the priest hood can recognize that this book is written from this viewpoint. When in verse 13 of chapter 8 says that Yahwey made the first covenant waxeth old and that it is ready to vanish away, you have to ask yourself what went away? The answer is the order of going through the priest. We no longer go through a priest because Yahushua is the High Priest as is mentioned in prophecy that He would become not of the order of Aaron but under the order of Melchizedek. God told the people through Moshe that everything He taught them was to be as an eternal way of life. Humans largest mistake is that they have been taught that the old had been done away with in that the law was done away with, but you have to ask yourself a serious question. Why would God change anything that He told His chosen people that this and that would be taught through all their generations? God is not a man that He should lie. He doesn’t change from yesterday to today like a shifting shadow. It was prophesied that Yahushua would magnify the law and make it more honorable.. which He did. He didn’t teach or exemplify anything other than what God told Him in the beginning. The penalty of transgressing the law was death because sin is transgression of the law. Yahushua paid that penalty for all mankind. God did not take the folks out of Egypt where they were slaves to put them back into slavery as most folks teach that to be observant to the law was slavery to that which they couldn’t keep? The people CHOSE to be disobedient and this is taught throughout the whole of the Old Testament. The old order of going through a priest had become so mundane that it was all being done out of duty to a law rather than from the heart of mankind. This is why Yahwey spoke through the prophet Jeremiah that He would make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that He made with their fathers in the day that He took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which broke His covenant, even though He was a husband unto them. Yahwey then said, Jer 31:33-34 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Notice Judah is not mentioned in these words? Israel and Judah would become one. This is because when the temple curtain was torn, it broke down the walls between the Jew and the Gentile and the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. The Gentiles whom we are before we come to know Yahushua are strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But through Yahshua, we are grafted in to the covenant of promise and now share the commonwealth of Israel. But notice again what the Lord our God, the God of Israel spoke through Jeremiah. What did He say that He was going to put in our inward parts and write in our hearts? Yes, you got it. The law of God. We can not be saved or earn our way into the kingdom by any other way than through the shed blood of Yahushua, but because of Him and His work, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, we can become obedient and take His yoke upon us because He is the one who bares the burden and the Holy Spirit is the ones who guides and protects us and helps us become obedient priests and kings who minister to the very heart of God. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Those whom have been called and chosen by the God of Israel are the children of the God of Israel. Some folks teach that we are spiritual Israel but that is a false teaching. We are the children of Israel because we are led by the Spirit and now we are His sons and His daughters, by adoption. We live in our dad’s house and our dad has a certain way that He demands that we live and that is by the law of love. Our love to Him and our brothers and sisters. We obey our dad’s laid out plan because we love Him and want to please Him. God’s unchangeable nature stands behind every single word that He spoke through Moses. The sacrificial system is what was spoken of that was done away with because Yahushua has become the perfect lamb of God, shedding His blood for all. The Torah continues to have the same purpose in all it’s commandments and statutes, there just happens to be a new system because Yahushua is our High Priest. Yahwey’s love for mankind is represented in the covenant of the blood which was shed and the bread which represents the body of Yahushua. wifee
2a)The Ark a gold covered acacia wood chest was a portable throne of Yahweh was within the Holy of Holies room of the Tabernacle. (It was an even more sacred place(inner sanctum) than the Holy Place the other room in the Tabernacle which contained the Altar of Incense, lampstand and the Table of Showbread manned by the priests giving offerings to atone for people’s sin). b)The Ark contained the Testimony the tablets of the Ten Commandments, God’s spoken Covenant on it for the Israelites given to Moses. It also contained a pot of manna and Aaron’s rod that budded at various times. c)It was considered holy because God said he would be there in a cloud on the mercy seat on the ark, only entered by the High priest encountered God there once a yr, the ultimate goal. d)It was symbolically the seat of the great Israeli King Yahweh Almighty God enthroned there and the ultimate destination for their worship of offerings/ sacrifices. The people were used to worshipping visible gods, & this was a tangible reminder of God’s presence, his throne where he said he would meet with Moses to give him God’s commands v22

Craig
The significance of the Ark in the Holy of Holies was the Ark is where the Ten Commandants were contained and from above the Ark Yahweh would speak to Moses. "...From there I will give you my commands for the people of Israel." Exodus 25:22 (NLT). The Holy of Holies was a earthly throne room for Yahweh. It was holy because Yahweh spoke to Moses from there. Yahweh was localized there. Whether anyone sat upon the Ark is immaterial because it represented the Throne of Yahweh and from above it Yahweh spoke to Moses. It was Holy. Irmela
Q2. (Exodus 25:10-22) What is the significance of the Ark in the Holy of Holies? What did it represent? Why was it considered so holy? If no one really sat upon it, why was it so important? The Holy of Holies was where God's presence dwelt. The Ark served as the portable throne of Jahweh. The lid was of pure gold and was called the Mercy Seat. There was a cherubim on each end, with wings spread upward looking down where the Blood was placed. (The blood made it the Mercy Seat.) God Almighty being enthroned between the cherubim. This was the place where God would meet with the Children of Israel. The Ark was made of shittim wood, overlaid with gold. This is symbolic of Christ in His humanity (wood) and His deity (gold). He was fully God, but laid that aside and was fully man. The contents of the Ark was a golden pot with manna (speaks of Christ being the Bread of Life) ; Aaron's rod that budded (speaks of the resurrection) the rod was a piece of dead wood, yet it budded. Christ died and then rose again. ; Tables of the covenant (speaks of the Kingship of Christ).
Krissi
The tabernacle was built according to a blueprint given to Moses by God Himself. This includes the Holy of Holies and the Ark. I have to admit that I’m bothered by the hierarchy which permitted only one person into the Holy of Holies, only priests into the antechamber and ordinary people peering from outside but not allowed inside. Christ got rid of such castes and elevated the most common of the common people to an equal "rank" with others. The importance of the ark and it's trapping is in it's ability to hold the awe and attention of the people who were not well-schooled in God's nature or desires. It made tangible that which is difficult to comprehend and gave God an aura of mystery and power. To say that God was limited to the ark, or was somehow "more" within the tabernacle than in other places gave the people an identity of being special, chosen, set-apart and possessing the place where God lived. Obviously, God is everywhere. He's never been limited to a tent, or little area within the tent. The meaning of the tabernacle, ark and tent must be symbolic. It symbolizes God's utter holiness by being inaccessible and mysterious ... and, conversely, symbolized the sinfulness of the people who were so "soiled" by sin that they could not approach God. -- Thankfully, we are in the new covenant, not this old one. From the Message version, 2 cor 3: Unlike Moses, we have nothing to hide. Everything is out in the open with us. He wore a veil so the children of Israel wouldn’t notice that the glory was fading away—and they didn’t notice. They didn’t notice it then and they don’t notice it now, don’t notice that there’s nothing left behind that veil. Even today when the proclamations of that old, bankrupt government are read out, they can’t see through it. Only Christ can get rid of the veil so they can see for themselves that there’s nothing there. Whenever, though, they turn to face God as Moses did, God removes the veil and there they are—face-to-face! They suddenly recognize that God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiseled stone. And when God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We’re free of it! All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.
