Paul Irving
On 7/19/2003 at 5:59 PM, Pastor Ralph said: Q2. What does this tell us about the Father? The Father is the speaker here in 1:8 and in 21:6. But Jesus is the speaker in 1:17 and 22:12-13. What is the significance of this for our understanding of who Jesus is? That He the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega. Jesus Christ also says this showing that they are one. Which is, and which was, and which is to come the Almighty. God will give freely the water of life. Jesus Christ says fear not I’m the first and the last, very similar to what the Father said. Jesus Christ and God are one, they never argue or disagree. Jesus Christ comes quickly to give every man according as his work shall be. Jesus Christ is to be respected as God is, he that doesn’t honor the Son doesn’t honor the Father. Uncle Dave
1. What does 1:8 tell us about the Father? The verse tells us that he always has, and always will be present, like it or not and is supreme above all. 2. The Father is the speaker here in 1:8 and in 21:6. But Jesus is the speaker in 1:17 and 22:12-13. What is the significance of this for our understanding of who Jesus is? These two verses explain to us that Jesus will return, and many will be very sad that they did not accept him as the one who gave his life as a payment for the sins of ALL mankind. It explains how, when he returns he will divide his inheritance among those who did.
Ramona
Reading Revelation1:8 and 2:16 then reading Rev 1:17 and 22:12-13 tells me that the Father and Jesus is one and the same. It began with God, then with Jesus it ended with His crucifixation and resurrection and now in Revelation it will a be a new beginning with the Father. He is the triune God so therefore it is God and Jesus speaking for they are both the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.. What is the significance of this for our understanding of who Jesus is? As Jesus said to His disciples, "The Father and I are one." Both the Father and the Son, Jesus, are one. It is significant that we understand who Jesus is because there is only one God.
