sisterlily
Good morning, the exalted Jesus is the Exalted Jesus. Reminding us lest we forget He is the one in control. The churches that claim authority has been given to them are living a lie, pray the the people grow closer to God and are given the gift of discernment to know the truth that Jesus did not stop being in authority and He does reveal to His children visions and dreams and signs and wonders and healing still today, because He remains the same ( Hebrews 13:9) The churches have to humble themselves to receive this truth, please pray for humility in the church. Moses 4
John, tells us: Jesus is the faithful witness, the first born from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth" (REV.1 : 5 ) Well; it teaches us; that the incredible future he has planned for us, for His faithful followers, that we (believer) can reign with Jesus Christ forever until his return. Blssd1030
The significance of Christ walking among the lampstands is that He IS among His people. I don't know - I've had a hard time with this question (not uncommon ). Thanks for your previous entries.

masika
Q5. What is the significance of the exalted Jesus walking among the lampstands? What does this teach us about the church? What does it teach us about Jesus? Jesus identified Himself to the church at Ephesus as the One "who holds the seven stars in His right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands." Jesus used this descriptive language to show that He has authority over the seven angels of the seven churches (they are in the palm of His hand). "Walking among the lampstands" means that though He is not physically present in each church, Jesus is vigilant over His church and He knows the condition of each member. Jesus commended the people at Ephesus for their perseverance and fidelity to righteousness in the face of persecution. Jesus also commended the people at Ephesus for testing those who claimed to be apostles (the Greek word for apostle means "one sent by God"). The church at Ephesus had tested certain so-called apostles and found them to be infiltrators sent by the devil. However, Jesus also told the church He was unhappy with them because they had lost their first love for Him. The joy and enthusiasm of their first love had died. The church at Ephesus had become stagnant and ritualistic and Jesus threatened to remove their lampstand from His presence if they did not repent of this apostasy. vsdaddy4441
Jesus is active and involved in His church. As He warns throughout the next chapters, congregations that do not accomplish His will could be removed. While I am not totally sure what that means, I am sure that it is not a good thing! He has not "gone back to heaven and left us alone." Rather, He is still powerful and aware of His people and His bride. It also teaches that He cares and wants a relationship with His people--the church.

Sherlynn
Q5. What is the significance of the exalted Jesus walking among the lampstands? (1:12-20) What does this teach us about the church? What does it teach us about Jesus? This shows that Jesus was given all that the Father promised him, authority over all, a king for eternity. The church has the promise of greater things as well if we are faithful and obey His commands. Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of Messiah. He is all that He claimed to be so He can be trusted and believed.

ising4ujc
We know that Jesus is the Light of the earth. The Lampstands signify the seven churches. Christ walking among the Lampstands tells me that He is not only the "Head", but that He walks among us, cares for us, and loves us.
4given
What is the significance of the exalted Jesus walking among the lampstands? The significance of Jesus walking among the lampstands shows us that Jesus will stand in the midst of the Church throughout the Church Age. The Church Age is the period of time that the church is on earth and consists of all the followers of Jesus -- not the church building itself. What does this teach us about the church? This teaches that no matter what the church may go through, Jesus is always with us. Jesus is in control at all times. Even when times are difficult we have the promise of Eternity with Jesus to help us endure and press on through our trials. What does it teach us about Jesus? It teaches us that Jesus is the Great High Priest who is always with His church and is always interceding for us. That Jesus loves us and is always with us. We should show reverence to Jesus as our Lord.
Delivered
Q5. What is the significance of the exalted Jesus walking among the lampstands? What does this teach us about the church? What does it teach us about Jesus? Christ is the headship of the church, He is the overseer and He is the One who will judge and admonish the church, He is coming for a faithful bride, we must be ready, we must be a light to the world, we must have oil for our lamps, and we must keep our wicks trimmed. Jesus, in all His glory is coming for His FAITHFUL bride. As we now see and understand, what looked like the Son of Man, is the Son of God, walking in all His power and glory among the lampstands, we the church must take the warnings He gives seriously, we must have an ear to hear, to understand, what the Spirit is saying to the church, for the church has been purchased with the blood of the Lamb. Sue D
Verse 1:18 states: "and the living one. I was dead, and see, I am alive forever and ever; and I have the keys of Death and of Hades"NRSV What does it mean when I (Jesus) states that he was dead? If Jesus is God, how could he have died? Was this a spirital death? Was this only a physical death of the body? Was it both a death of physical and spiritual? What do you think? Sue D --You ask "What do you (reader) think?" -- So I am responding -- Because Jesus is the Son of God / part of the trinity/ He is the only entity that could die and be resurrected back to life. In the Gospels, after Christ's resurrection, some of the people thought he was a ghost or 'something' -- He told them to touch him -- to feel the wounds in His hands and feet and he ate food. He walked amongst the people for a while before His assension back to Heaven. Christ's death was physical so we could have spiritual life through Him. A person is born spiritually dead and without the Holy Spirit bringing spiritual life / salvation / that person will continue to be spiritually dead and will spend eternity in hell which is intended only for Satan and his followers. But a person who becomes a 'believer' will 'die' / the body will cease to be alive / and that soul will go to Heaven. A person's 'soul' part of us, never dies. The physical body will probably die/ one man was 'taken' into Heaven without dying / Elijah. Christ brought Lazarus back from death after four days, but he later died a regular death again. The only other time a person won't die is when the rapture takes place. Christ will return for His church / believers. The body will be changed from corruptable to incorruptable, but it won't die as we think of death. So -- thanks for listening to my reply. Sue D
Sue D What is the significance of the axalted Jesus walking among the lampstands? What does this teach us about the church? What does it teach about Jesus? That Christ is the head of the church -- where two or three are gathered together in His name -- He is there amongst us. He will never leave us or forsake us -- Christ is the mediator between God and man. He wants believers to be growing /maturing so that the 'church' will thereby be a growing/maturing body reaching out to the surrounding community. Alexander
What is the significance of the exalted Jesus walking among the lampstands? (1:12-20) What does this teach us about the church? What does it teach us about Jesus? As it has been stated the seven lampstands or candelsticks represent the seven churches. The significance of Jesus walking in their midst represents His continuous intercession for His church which is those of us who have taken part in His shed blood. By Him being in our midst should show us that if we keep the faith and uphold the church according to His Word then there is nothing for us to fear. Today He is everpresent making intercession for us through His Holy Spirit who makes our petitions know to the Father. JESUS IS LORD
alpha1
I interpret this as confirmation that Jesus is the head of the Church. God, through Jesus and the Holy Spirit, is the source of all good works, miracles and teaching in all denominations of Christianity.

trouble
Jesus is showing he is in the midst of the seven churches / people and also shows that he is the head of the church. It teaches us that the church should always look to Him for guidance and giving obedience to Him by observing all His commandments. It also teaches us that Jesus is deserving of being the head of the church. He came as a carpenter-teacher but at the end time will come with power and glory where all knees shall bow and every tongue confess - He is Lord

First, Jesus was never called by that name, he was never given a Gentile name, for He is the Son of God, God who calls Himself by the name "The God of Israel" more than any other name. Yeshua is his name, a good name to be given to a Jewish Rabbi. There is only One God who sits on the throne, the "God of Israel," it is He who sent His Son, yes, Yeshua is diety, but he is not God, the God of Israel, he is God's Son. For us to believe, we have to understand our faith is built on the truth, God sent his Son. The Son is sitting at God's right hand, God has given Jesus all authority except for His, God has never left his throne, it is to God's throne that the veil was torn by the Son, so that we who believe in God's Son, Who is also the Messiah, God's promise of a King who will sit on the throne of David and will rule for a thousands years, bringing peace, may go boldly into His thron room. There is only one God, MEANING, there is only one in authority, head over all, King of the Universe, God. It is the same God the Son taught us how to pray to, Yeshua calls Him, his God and Father. The Son and the Holy Spirit who are Persons who are under the authority of God Almighty, the One True God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Today we are looking forward to the Messiah to come and sit on His throne in Zion, bringing Peace to the world. I give thanks to the three in one God, God Almighty, His Son, and the Holy Spirit, for without them where would we be?
