How does it conform to our other foundational sources of Christian teaching? What is the danger of taking the teaching of contemporary leaders as our doctrinal basis without checking it with the Scripture? The source of Paul's gospel was Christ Himself. He revealed Himself to Paul on the road to Demascus. Christ appeared to Paul Himself and showed these things to him personally. Everything that the apostles went through is the strong foundation for our beliefs and doctrines now. Jesus said that we should never just hear someone preach and teach the word, but rather test it to see if it's from God. We need to take what man says and test it against the scriptures to see if it lines up with scripture and we need to ask the Holy Spirit to show us any descrepancies. Because Paul never deviates from the revelation. Besides he (in chapter 2: 1-10) he also checks this gospel with the one preached by Peter and the other apostles and finds it to be the same. The other foundational sources-the Old Testament and other New Testament writings and this gospel revealed to Paul conform with one another. Like the Galatians who were taking the Judaisers' teaching, if we take anybody's teaching, contemporary or old, we stand the same risk of following something false and in due course, not inheriting the kingdom. He had the benefit of a transformational meeting with Jesus on the road to Damascus: rhema. He was then, born-again with the knowledge of his position in God the Father by the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We know that it is a true revelation as there was fruit of the Spirit when he was born again. True revelation produces fruit that is in accordance with God's Word. Conformity to God's Word as written and knowing Him as our personal Saviour changes us so we are known as sons of God. Our foundation on the written Word is truth as "Thy Word is truth." Therefore, our doctrine should firstly be God's Word so that we are not led astray by perversions of the "gospel" as were the Galations. The source of Paul's gospel was by revelation of Jesus Christ. b. It is a true revelations because it agrees with the Holy Scriptures. Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him as righteousness. The just shall live by faith. By grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. c. It agrees with the Word of God. d. The danger of taking the teaching of contemporary leaders is that they get into false teaching that does not agree with the Word of God and through their charisma can sway many to be deceived. That is why we always have to make sure the teaching agrees with the Word of God. We need to study to show ourselves approved, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. Paul passion to destroy the church turned into a passion to spread the Gospel of Christ overnight. Only a move of God could change a person's heart and mind that deeply and suddenly. How does it conform to our other foundational sources of Christian teaching? Paul was a "Pharisee of the Pharisees". He therefore knew the scripture as well as he knew his name. The revelation he received from Christ confirmed every prophecy of the Old Testament about the Messiah. Furthermore, the person and the gospel of Jesus Christ took the foundational knowledge that Paul had acquired about God and his loving nature into a state of grace which could only have come from God. Man, in his own flesh, cannot comprehend grace without the person and revelation of Christ. Anything taught by any man which does not line up with God's Word is not to be believed or listened to. This is why scripture says every man should study for himself so that he may be approved. This source was not interferred with by the thoughts of man, on what it should mean or say. The gospel is purly the word of God. How do we know that it is a true revelation? Faith. Paul is not worried what man thinks. Paul tells us what we need not what we want. We have to believe/know that the gospel is God's word alone. If the gospel was infected with the thoughts of man or his so called wisdom it would be faulty. God has never changed, man does constantly. How does it conform to our other foundational sources of Christian teaching? The gospel Paul preached is the word of God(scripture). There is no need for it to conform to any thing. Any source other than scripture should conform to this. All things(experiences) should be evaluated in the light of scripture. That means our leaders can be mistaken/wrong. It is our ultimate responsibility to know what we are hearing is true and correct. If we don't study/ read for ourselves we run the danger of a trip to eternal damnation. We can't develop a relationship with God unless we do our own study/ meditation and develop our own personal walk. ***the garden of eden--lucifer**** Our ultimate trust is to go to the triune God only. How do we know that it is a true revelation? In Matthew 12:25-28, Jesus tells us that no kingdom, city or even spirit devided against itself can stand. Paul was well known for his persecution of the church (serving the interest of Satan's kingdom) before his conversion which was as a result of encounter with the power of the kingdom of God (now serving against the interest of Satan's kingdom). His ministry stood the test of time confirming the fact that it is truly a revelation from How does it conform to our other foundational sources of Christian teaching? Paul's gospel is in conformity with that of other Apostles. Such teaching could be as a result of sense knowledge which lack the power of the Holy Spirit to build our faith in God, but rather cast doubt on our minds and could lead us astray. Paul had an blinding experience on Demascus Road and met Jesus Christ in a life changing way-his life, his heart, and his actions. It conforms with the teachings of Jesus instead of the murderer that was the earthly way. This also taught Paul to reach out to others than the Jews. The source of Paul's gospel was the revelation from Jesus Christ himself as well as the revelation from the Old Testament. He was crucial in the writings of the New Testament and as such we can trust the Bible as the truth coming directly from God. The Bible is the inspired word of God and is complete for us to learn from- we do not need new revelations and we must be careful of believing the "revelations" of the so called contemporary prophets who claim that God is doing a new thing. We must be like the bereans and check every thing against the Word, if it is contrary to the Bible, its not from God because He cannot go against himself, saying one thing today and another thing tomorrow. It is a true revelation because it is based on what the Old Testament. I think that Paul’s teachings are the foundational source of the Christian teaching. The danger of taking the teaching of contemporary leaders as our doctrinal basis without checking it with Scripture is that is the way that some cults are formed. They feel that what they have learned nobody else on earth has ever learned it and they form their doctrinal around that and don’t check out what the scriptures are saying. We can know it's a true revelation because if we study the Old Testament scriptures we can find it to be true. * HOW DOES IT CONFORM TO OUR OTHER FOUNDATIONAL SOURCES OF CHRISTIAN TEACHING? Our authentic teachings conform with this because their foundations are the scriptures. * WHAT IS THE DANGER OF TAKING THE TEACHING OF CONTEMPORARY LEADERS AS OUR DOCTRINAL BASIS WITHOUT CHECKING IT WITH SCRIPTURE? When we do this, we take the chances of being led astray from the true Gospel. It's wise to check with the Bible before we can take what the other leader is saying. Paul was so confident in his gospel because it was Christ Himself who revealed it to him and not any other man. Other Christian teachings does not come from God but from either tradition or from their own vision. A teaching that is God inspired comes from the bible. Because it was based on the "authorative" revelation of Jesus Christ Himself as well as the Old Testament scripture. It was also revealed through Paul and the other disciples. What is the danger of taking the teaching of contemporary leaders as our doctrinal basis without checking it with the Scripture? The danger is of being lead astray and following the wrong doctrine. Once we start following false teachers/doctrine, it draws us away from the true Word of God which can lead to a path of destruction. Paul's source of the gospel was the Lord Jesus Christ himself on the way to Damascus as paul was going to perscute the christians. Jesus confronted him and assigned the gospel to him. Paul's gospel agreed with the revelation in the old testament, the gospel of the apostles and the epistles. Paul received his knowledge of the meaning of what Jesus was teaching His 11 disciples, from the teacher Himself thru divine revelation.Where could you get a better knowledge of the Christian faith, than from the man it was named after. Jesus Christ, from Nazerath? What a source!!! How do we know that it is a true revelation? We know that it was true, because when Paul started preaching in the synogues, He was teaching that Jesus Christ was the true son of God, and that He got the message from Jesus personally. It is what the Christian doctrine is built upon and the source of the teaching is the basic teaching of the Christian faith. As the Bible warns us in these last days not to worry about the time of the Rapture, but look at the signs. You would have to be blind not to see the signs, this world is about to experience things that will put people on their knees begging for forgiveness. The wolves in sheeps clothing are all over the place teaching a new way to get to heaven, there is no new way, and God never changes, not for me or anybody else. The whole problem in a nutshell is that the church has forgot how to pray and fast, and if you know your Bible, this is the only way to get the results and promises made by God. The church can't pray so they have reverted to music to get the results of pray and it is going to cause many people to hear "Depart from me, I do not know you". Anything that we teach or being taught does not conform to the Word of God is no good. If we do not check what we are being taught with the Word of God, we can be lead astray and start believinig in the way of the world and not God's. How do we know that it is a true revelation? As history displays, that our Christian teaching is based on the revelation of the Old Testament Scriptures. On the authoritative revelations of Jesus, the Son of God. Jesus' teachings to the eleven disciples, who were witnesses to his ministry, were transmitted to the church in the gospels and in the epistles. And the independent revelation to the Apostle Paul. As Paul mentions in 1:12 He did not receive it from man and was not taught. "I receive it by revelation from Jesus Christ." 1:15-16 "God....was pleased to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles..." 3:23 "Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed." Another thing that stand out for me is that Paul pursecuted other Christians and when he was changed he understood what happened to him and why. And then began preaching salvation. Along with other things that happened to him as well that is how I know it is true. 3. How does it conform to our other foundational sources of Christian teaching? It conforms to our other foundational sources of Christian teaching in that Paul continued to teach what Jesus taught. He did not teach what he wanted. 4. I know I'm straight forward but so is the Word of God. If we take God's Word seriously and check what we are being taught with the WORD we will not be mislead. Num 23:19. Through our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ through the leading of the Holy Spirit which guides us in all truths. It conforms to other sources of christian teaching, by an act of faith. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Heb 11:6 The danger of taking the teaching of contemporary leaders as our doctrinal basis without checking it with the scripture is that you end up doing the biddings of false prophets and false teachers and thereby endanger or lose your salvation eternally. 2 Timothy 2:15 commands us to "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth."
