Q3. (1 Samuel 19:18-24) What does it tell us about Saul’s faith that he pursues David even when he has sought the sanctuary of the prophet Samuel? Why do people prophesy when the Holy Spirit comes upon them? What is the relationship between this incident and the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2)?

Saul didn't really have faith at this point. The Spirit of the Lord had left him and he was living in darkness. There was no fear of God, so pursuing David even in the Temple shows how far Saul has fallen and at what lengths he would go to in disrespect for God.

People prophesy when the Holy Spirit comes on them because the Spirit of God moves in and through them for God's purposes or message.

This incident is in relationship to the day of Pentecost because the Holy Spirit came and manifested Himself causing those He came upon to speak in tongues and prophesy. The Holy Spirit shows in both cases that He is in ultimate control of all things even our own bodies.

It is obvious that Saul is swallowed up by this evil spirit he possess and has lost anything good about him. He knows that God is leading David but yet he continues to pursue him as though he is pursuing God for denying him the kingdom.

They prophesy because they are under the control of the Holy Spirit and the Spirit is guiding their tongue. It is apparent that the same spirit that moved Saul and his men to prophesy is the same Spirit that blessed them all on the Day of Pentecost.

Even when the Holy Spirit intervenes directly, Saul continues to ignore God’s will and tries to kill David. His men and Saul himself prophesy because the Holy Spirit is speaking through them. In Acts, the Holy Spirit spoke through those gathered at Pentecost proclaiming God’s message.

Saul had lost all his faith, what little he had, when Samuel anointed David as king all of the Spirit is

with David now. Saul is a possessed man now grasping for anything. People under the power of the Holy. Ghost will prophesy because they are talking directly the words that the Holy Ghost is giving them to say. Just as when they came out of the upper room they were speaking in different languages as the Holy Ghost was upon them. What a day that was. Thank God. For the comforter.

Saul is consumed with killing David. Saul's faith is not being demonstrated by his actions. The Holy Spirit is speaking through the person(s) He comes upon. The relationship between this incident of the Holy Spirit's presence and that of the day of Pentecost is that God's Holy Spirit manifested himself in the same way.

1.IT TELLS ME HE LOST FAITH. HE LET JEALOUSY STAND IN HIS WAY. HE WAS CONSUMED WITH GETTING RID OF DAVID NO MATTER WHAT.

2.WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT IS UPON US WE ARE STRICTLY WITH THE LORD. WE ARE DOING EXACTLY WHAT THE SPIRIT TELLS US. PRAISE THE LORD.

FIRE WAS UPON THEM AND THEY ALL SPOKE WITH CLOVEN TONGUES. CLOVEN TONGUES MEANS FIRE SEPRATED AND RESTED ON EACH OF THEM

Saul faith is not strong, we have seen this in the past when he disobeyed God. He has no respect or love for God to seek David in the sanctuary of the prophet Samuel. This should not surprise the reader, as I stated, we have seen throughout the recounting of this story, that Saul's love for God does not exist.

People prophesy because when the Holy Spirit comes over them, the spirit is stronger than their own will. The Spirit is of God and ALL POWERFUL, all CONSUMING!

The relationship between these two events: the SPIRIT is God's POWER!!! We do not control the Spirit, The Spirit controls us. The Spirit is the 'Breath of God" ! Our Creator is more powerful than man and all consuming! In both events God's all consuming power took complete control and man began too prophesy in the name of the Lord! We have seen this many time throughout the Bible, The Holy Spirit is OF God and IS God, just as the Son,Jesus. God, the Father, God The Son, and God the Holy Spirit! God is all powerful, all consuming ,omnipresent. He is in everything, He IS everything. Nothing was created but by His hands. He is the great I AM, All in All, our Sovereign Creator is far more powerful than His creation.

It's sad to realize that for Saul, nothing is sacred -- that's the implication of Saul seeking to kill David in the very sanctuary of Israel's prophet Samuel. Saul's fear and need to control have pushed him to total rebellion against God, even though he realizes that God has anointed David to be king.

The people prophesy when the Holy Spirit comes upon them because one God is all powerful and two they are no longer connected to their usual normal state.

The relationship between this incident and the Day of Pentecost is we see and we don't understand but all things are not to be understood just believe.

I think that when Saul pursued David even when he sought sanctuary of the prophet Samuel that he has lost his faith. He is more worried about his own good to care about others and his main object was to kill David.

I think that people prophesy when the Holy Spirit comes upon them because that what was put on their heart. There are other things that people do when the Holy Spirit comes upon them. They will put some of their gifts into action.

I think that the relationship between this incident and the Day of Pentecost is very familiar but at the day of Pentecost there were a lot more people involved.

Saul was driven by his ego and his fear instead of relying on God and submitting to God's will.

They have no choice. God has the power, not us.

What a joy! The day of Pentacost and the people filled with the Holy Spirit. I can just feel the presence of the Spirit in that room. Thank you Lord!! You are such a wonderful, loving, powerful, magnificient and awesome God. Little did they know when the Lord was put in the tomb or was dying on the cross what the Lord had planned for them and little do we know.

God Bless!

Saul has no faith and displays this by pursuing David even they saw a group of prophets prophesying, with Samuel standing there as their leader, the Spirit of God came upon Saul's men and they also prophesied. 21 Saul was told about it, and he sent more men, and they prophesied too. Saul sent men a third time, and they also prophesied.... Saul went to Naioth at Ramah. But the Spirit of God came even upon him, and he walked along prophesying until he came to Naioth. 24 He stripped off his robes and also prophesied in Samuel's presence. He lay that way all that day and night. This is why people say, 'Is Saul also among the prophets?'" (1 Samuel 19:20-21, 23-24) for Saul, nothing is sacred -- that's the implication of Saul seeking to kill David in the very sanctuary of Israel's prophet Samuel. Saul's fear and need to control have pushed him to total rebellion against God, even though he realizes that God has anointed David to be king.

What this tells us about Saul's faith is that nothing is sacred to him. Saul pursues David even when David has sought sanctuary with the prophet Samuel because his fear and need to control has pushed him into rebellion against God.

The people prophesy when the Holy Spirit comes upon them because this was God's way of keeping them from killing David.

The relationship between this incident and the Day of Pentecost is the Holy Spirit coming upon a great number of people resulting in prophecy.

 Because he was so jealous of daivd he only saw that he want him kill,

not that fact that he only did good for him.And the aniont that was on

daivd.Because it was the Holy Spirit not the person. They have no control

of the holy spirit The holy spirit is a mystery we are not to understand everything

that the Holy Spirit does. The people in Acts was on one accord and the holy

Spirit take control and when the people got around daivd and samuel the

Holy Spirit came on Saul and his men that he send to kill daivid.

Having lost the Sprite of God, Saul, nothing is sacred and he can be expected to do foolish things that will not endear him to his own people and soldiers. Saul trying to kill David in Samuel's sanctuary shows Saul's fear and lost of contact with God an God's will. Saul can not win. His desired to control leads to total rebellion against God. He forgets that God has anointed David to be king. All the prophecies that occur have no positive impact on him as he is caught up in himself and worldly desire to retain control of the kingdom. He is a lost soul and caught up in his ego, pride and fear, all not being fruits of the spirit.

God's messengers of prophesy give us warnings, as do certain events that come about each day. We must pay attention and be obedient to God's word. Easy to say, but when you are inflexible to God's evolving plan, it is time to be prayerful and ask for guidance. This Saul didn't do. He would suffer the consequences later, just as David would when he sinned against God's commandments.

Just as we will suffer consequences in sinning against God's commandments. and will

Q3. (1 Samuel 19:18-24) What does it tell us about Saul’s faith that he pursues David even when he has sought the sanctuary of the prophet Samuel?

Up til now I was thinking Saul was a very bad person; but then I started to think about how I react when I feel insecure about my earthly future, my mortgage, paying my family bills. Frankly, I can be just as "bad a sinner" as Saul, i.e. being far from God in my thought process. I have talked to pastors and also sen how some of them react. We are all human, and have no right to judge anyone for the way they react.

So without God, the situation is bad or hopeless. Thank goodness he loves us so much, thank goodness for His grace and mercy. We're human and we sin a lot more than we realize. Thank you Jesus; you came as a human and you saw us and read our minds and could see how we'd react to anything. Thank you for the tests we get every day; thanks for the warnings via these bible examples. It help us rationalize there is no other choice than to trust and Love the Lord above all else.

sanctuary of the prophet Samuel? Why do people prophesy when the Holy Spirit comes upon them? What is the

relationship between this incident and the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2)?

a) Saul's fear and need to control pushed him to total rebellion against God and his laws. Saul had lost

his faith in God.

B) The Holy Spirit moves people to speak (prophecy) the things of God and the things God wills.

c) I don't know for sure. But in both cases, the people were used by God. The Holy Spirit

came over the people and they prophecy what the Lord wanted them to do/say.

3a)Saul seemed to forget to trust God,instead trusts in himself and seeking to chase David. He was so fearful of David, and he desires to exert his control by sending men to capture David. at Naoith, Ramah where he sheltered with Samuel. The men sent to capture prophesised, Saul went to Naoith, and the Holy Spirit came on him &he walked &prophesised too in Samuel’s presence.

b)Saul prophesying was in total contrast to his fearful fixation intent on capturing David, prophesy happens when God through His Holy Spirit comes and works at His timing and place. With Saul,he moved from thoughts of violence to involuntary speaking things of God, disconnection from his normal for him state.

c)Relationship with this and the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came upon them, tongues of fire settled on them, and they could speak in their own languages.,and other works of God. Both examples of where God intervened in situations in the mysterious way of HS and brought God the glory. With Saul,God demonstrated to him & his messengers God is soverign.and reaffirmed this for David & Samuel. With Saul prophesying was temporary, at Pentecost,HS came to last.

Q3. (1 Samuel 19:18-24) What does it tell us about Saul's faith that he pursues David even when he has sought the sanctuary of the prophet Samuel?

Saul's faith has become disconnected through his repeated disobedience. His heart is very cold which enables him to defile the house of Samuel.

Why do people prophesy when the Holy Spirit comes upon them?

Because the Holy Spirit controls them and not the other way around.

What is the relationship between this incident and the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2)?

They both involve being slain in the spirit or losing one's to control their own behavior but rather being under the control of the Holy Spirit.

Sauls Faith has been replaced with jealousy, he seems to still love God and knows what is right but his humanly emotions are in control.

When people speak in tounges the Holy Spirit is in control and overtakes our humanly efforts to control the situation.

The relationship between this incident and the day at pentecost is that the Holy Spirit came upon them when they weren't expecting it.  Both times it was to give guidance and help for the situations they were in.

It is clear he has lost his faith in Gods' sovereignty and also lost his confidence in himself as God's chosen leader, so he is determined to ruin David.

The Holy Spirit does as He will (as stated in the lesson) so apparently this is how He chooses to communicate coming events.

This event, along with day of Pentecost, were defining moments - groups of people prophesying together.

Saul has lost his reverence for God almighty which causes him to roam like a madman into even sacred parts. The Holy Spirit is a powerful force that connects with our spirits. Our spirits naturally submit to the power of God through the Holy Ghost. Our flesh cannot win in a battle with the Holy Spirit!
