csreeves
Q4. (1 Samuel 28:7-14) Why do you think God condemns occult practices of communi-cating with the dead and channeling spirits of the dead? How might such practices open Christians to victimization and oppression by evil spirits? What should you do if you’ve been involved in such practices in the past? I believe it is just it opens up a bucket load when you practice occult which damages the mind Christ gave us. Repent and never touch them again. How might such practices open Christians to victimization and oppression by evil spirits? What should you do if you’ve been involved in such practices in the past? Because it is idolatry. They would be putting other gods before Him. God is the one and true living God. We become more vulnerable to Satan if we get involve with occult practices. We need to repent if we have had involvement in the past.
Platoz
Why do you think God condemns occult practices of communi-cating with the dead and channeling spirits of the dead? THERE IS ONLY ONE SPIRIT; THE HOLY SPIRIT. ALL ELSE IS JUST............ How might such practices open Christians to victimization and oppression by evil spirits? ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE HOLY SPIRIT CAN BE MANIPULATED BY MAN FOR MAN'S PURPOSES. What should you do if you’ve been involved in such practices in the past? REPENT!! I like your answers-keep it simple and to me trusty God is simple. We as humans try to twist and turn it to try to meet our circumstances which are connected to the world. Platoz
Q4. (1 Samuel 28:7-14) Why do you think God condemns occult practices of communicating with the dead and channeling spirits of the dead? Because we are to go to God with our questions, needs and thoughts. We are to ask for his guidance. We we do this we are looking for another God and giving God second place. How might such practices open Christians to victimization and oppression by evil spirits? I don't even like to write about this. Evil spirits are willing to enter into our conscious state with the least bit of invitation. Christians could think the evil spirits answering and work is of God because it could look nice and shiny and wonderful for us. What should you do if you've been involved in such practices in the past? Ask God to forgive you and to give you the knowledge to discern when something as this nature comes your way again. These things can slip up on you. http://www.joyfulheart.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1175

PATCH
Why do you think God condemns occult practices of communicating with the dead and channeling spirits of the dead? How might such practices open Christians to victimization and oppression by evil spirits? What should you do if you've been involved in such practices in the past? God condemns occult practices because they are of the devil and the devil does not play fair. He does not tell the truth and instead of peace, he puts in fear, worry and guilt in out lives. We will then find ourselves spiralling out of control. Also, once we have sought the help of such spirits we find it hard to break away again because of fear. If we have been involved in such practices in the past, we have to confess our sin, repent and plea the blood of Jesus for cleansing and protection. And no matter what happens, we have to be steadfast in our faith in God, to pray unceasingly and put our trust in Him.

tammie7
I think that God condemns talking to the dead because you are really talking to the devil and his helpers. The person is not believing in God or having faith in God and what God can do for them. It can open up christain to believe that the answer is in the medium and talking to the dead you will start reading the horoscope looking for all your answer and when one thing happen you will keep going back to look for the quick answers. If you get involved in these practices you should ask God for forgiveness. Lorraine Overstreet
Q4. (1 Samuel 28:7-14) Why do you think God condemns occult practices of communi-cating with the dead and channeling spirits of the dead? How might such practices open Christians to victimization and oppression by evil spirits? What should you do if you’ve been involved in such practices in the past? a. We are to worship God with all we are: heart, mind, body and soul. It is to easy for satan to try and destroy our love and trust in God. Why consult with the dead when you can ask God to help and guide you. b. How do we know that the spirit we seek is not the devil? Seeking the dead spiritis is going against God's will. The devil can step in and feed you what ever you want to hear and then he can get a stronger hold on your will, making it easier for him to lead you astray. c. Trust in God, repent and ask for forgivness. Ask God to cleanse thse evil spirit from you. And stay away from the occult!
royk
Q4. (1 Samuel 28:7-14) Why do you think God condemns occult practices of communi-cating with the dead and channeling spirits of the dead? How might such practices open Christians to victimization and oppression by evil spirits? What should you do if you’ve been involved in such practices in the past? Jesus raised the dead three times; each time it was for a reason to show God's power and glory, and also to help people believe in Him. There is no example in the Bible that suggests we should do this. We are to focus on the lost who are alive and let God use us so they can be saved. This is the great commission; this is what we are here for. We are only asking for trouble is seeking something with the departed. But there are people who are gifted to help solve crimes, or to find the bodies of people who have been murdered. God put these people in this world to serve Him and His bow humble to His will. People who have this give in truth take care not to sek out the wrong things, or they will pay the price.
wifee
4a)Scripture asks us to love the God with our heart, mind and soul and not put another gods between us and God. He condemns occult practices as this is disobeying God& because he knows they will harm us spiritually. b)These practices give the devil a foothold weakening us in our spiritual battle with satan. c)If been involved in this repent to God and seek his forgiveness. cjenkins1388
Occult practices God condemns these practices because Evil spirits are true beings and when we acknowledge them and invite them into our lives the consequenses are detrimental. karynjg
(1 Samuel 28:7-14) Why do you think God condemns occult practices of communicating with the dead and channeling spirits of the dead? How might such practices open Christians to victimization and oppression by evil spirits? What should you do if you've been involved in such practices in the past? God is very clear in His Word that we are to worship no one but Him. To seek out guidance in the spiritual world from anyone else is dangerous and sinful. When Christians utilize occult methods, intentionally or not, it puts themselves at risk to not hear God's voice and be in His presence. When we recognize our sin and disobedience, we must bring it to God, confess to Him sincerely and we will be cleansed.

God condemns the practice of communicating with the dead because God is the god of the living not the Dead. We are told not a to communicate with the dead door with evil spirits because the evil spirit may be able for keeping communication with God. DJW
Q4. (1 Samuel 28:7-14) Why do you think God condemns occult practices of communicating with the dead and channelling spirits of the dead? How might such practices open Christians to victimisation and oppression by evil spirits? What should you do if you’ve been involved in such practices in the past? I'm quite sure that to attempt communication with the dead and occult practices is to call on 'other god's' which is sin. Even the medium in the text called Saul a god because that is how she saw spirits. Our relationship is with God as Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, and God is God, he is number one! There is no other. It is because of this that many have stumbled and fallen. The devil and his demons have no actual power. All they have is deception manifest as fear, ignorance and darkness. When a christian takes their eyes off the Lord they fall into traps in that darkness. We have all been in the darkness because we are of the world. We keep our eyes on God, we seek is will and we obey because we have been washed anew with the sacrifice of Jesus and the forgiveness of God. Man, that is just so Awesome! Praise God!!! crissy464
The attempt is a sin against God and results in either deception or involvement with demonic entities impersonating the dead. Worship only one person GOD
Irmela
Q4. (1 Samuel 28:7-14) Why do you think God condemns occult practices of communicating with the dead and channeling spirits of the dead? How might such practices open Christians to victimization and oppression by evil spirits? What should you do if you've been involved in such practices in the past? That would be putting ones trust in the spirits of the dead, and not in God. We are admonished to trust and believe in God and in Him alone. Not to have other gods beside Him. The evil spirits controlled by satan are just waiting for this kind of an opportunity to infiltrate our mind and being with what is not of God. Anyone having been involved in such practices should repent and seek forgiveness and not repeat such practice.
Krissi
It seems that every society/religion includes many people who seek an "advantage" over others or even over God Himself, by knowing the future. I suppose channeling the dead is part of this. Even though channeling is talking to the dead (the past), it is done with a desire to know the future or to understand the present. From the little I know, most spiritualists are asked questions that confer advantage in dealing with both the present and future. As a Christian, I must leave the future to God. Part of submission to Him involves not questioning the future, living for the day and trusting Him to take care of all the details of the future. This, admittedly, is very difficult for me. I worry often about the future. Such a worry is a symptom of not trusting Him. Just recently, I hired a late-teen boy to help me do heavy tasks who told me his mother was a spiritualist. People contact her, he said, to know about relationships. She brings together long-separated relatives -- that's her "speciality." Honestly, I had never heard of such a thing but knowing this about the boy caused me to pray deeply for his salvation and protection. Intercessory prayer for those involved in such strange stuff is the right response. This includes their relatives and friends who may be tempted into this way of thinking. There's a subset of charismatics who go back in a person's history to disgorge the consequences of long-ago relations who may have been Masons or engaged in witchcraft, etc. The logic behind this is has to do with demons who attach themselves to family lines. I don't know if this is true. If it is, then a person would have to confess to sins he/she didn't commit, just to get rid of these attached demonic beings. I have never been involved in such stuff except for junior high school girls sleepovers when we played with oujie boards. I've confessed this even though at the time I thought it was ridiculous -- I was not a believer, just rational. I do not think it opened me to evil spirits. -- As an aside, there's a passage in the weekly Anglican liturgy during which we remember/pray for dead relatives. It has to do with the idea of a communion of saints that stretches back in time to include those who are dead but remains present to us today. I disagree with this and don't say anything as others read these words. A quiet disagreement.
Nicolaas A.P. Mostert
Q4. (1 Samuel 28:7-14) Why do you think God condemns occult practices of communicating with the dead and channeling spirits of the dead? GOD created us to communicate with HIM. God forbit that we must have other gods. How might such practices open Christians to victimization and oppression by evil spirits? This works through a medium, when you consult such thing you open up for evil spirits to get hold of you. This can harm you spiritually. What should you do if you've been involved in such practices in the past? You have to repent before God and ask forgiveness.
LadyT
Q4. (1 Samuel 28:7-14) Why do you think God condemns occult practices of communicating with the dead and channeling spirits of the dead? I assume it's because we'd look to men instead of God. And those of us who would seek confirmation that God is real via a dead relative would condemn ourselves because we wouldn't be walking in faith. However, I believe there was a section where Jesus told someone that a deceased prophet confirmed God's existence, and we/the people, still didn't believe. How might such practices open Christians to victimization and oppression by evil spirits? We could be swayed by them and tricked instead of following God's Word. What should you do if you've been involved in such practices in the past? Repent.
