Gerbrand van Schalkwyk
What is the value of visits of special speakers to a congregation? What can they impart that your regular pastor can't? We all have different revelations from the bible. Special speakers often are very strong in certain areas and might impart wisdon that our paster never saw. Also, these days we have thousands of demoninations. Each are just a little bit different from the other. By exposing ourselves to different ideas we can ensure that we stay true to the Word. That we don't get hooked on a personal idea, but that we stay focussed on God. Why is a ministry of itinerant preaching so difficult -- and important? We cant settle down when we keep moving around. It is difficult to build relationships, build trust and build a strong support base if you are not in the same area all the time We have to keep the Word of God vibrant, we have to spread His Word to new areas, to new countries, to new people. Somebody must plant the seed so that the Kingdom can reach the new grounds. It also develop us personally. It expose us to new people, ideas, situations and experiences. We learn how to handle different situations
charisbarak
Special speakers give us another view of the Word. It is refreshing to hear about other ministries around the world. Each speaker is so very different and it is wonderful to see how God is using them. Often the speakers are missionaries who have experienced things our pastor has not. We learn from each other. It is difficult to raise the $'s needed to travel, you're at the whims of the church you're visiting and you give up spending alot of time with your family. It's important as listed above, but often an itenerant speaker will minister to a special person/persons in your congregation, encouraging them to be a "go-er." Eudora
Q4. (1 Thessalonians 3:10-11; Romans 1:11) What is the value of visits of special speakers to a congregation? Folks might get a different perspective on the scriptures. Some folks that are so indoctrinated, they begin to see only the doctrine and they become dull because they are not open to what the Spirit wants to show them. What can they impart that your regular pastor can't? A new thought process… A new idea, or an old one with a new twist? Why is a ministry of itinerant preaching so difficult -- and important? Dullness can creep in so fast into a ministry. This is why the Holy Spirit is so vital to one’s life no matter what kind of ministry they are called in too. The Spirit is always fresh in any age. Craig
Q4. (1 Thessalonians 3:10-11; Romans 1:11) What is the value of visits of special speakers to a congregation? What can they impart that your regular pastor can’t? Why is a ministry of itinerant preaching so difficult – and important? Special speakers allow for a fresh voice and experience from God to encourage a congregation in their spiritual development and involvement for Jesus Christ. It also plugs the congregation into the bigger picture of what is happening throughout Christianity as it impacts the world. Fresh ideas or old ideas presented in fresh ways can renew, encourage, and energize a congregation for Jesus Christ. Special speakers normally preach and teach from their experience, mission, and calling which is most often different in a specific way from the regular pastor. Again, the special speaker brings into the congregation a fresh experience, perspective, and word. An itinerant ministry is difficult and challenging because of the very nature of its mission. It's important because everyone needs a fresh Word or voice from God. A message or insignt from fellow Christians moving throughout the world on mission for God. Reporting what they see and experience and presenting the specal message God has put on their hearts. Special speakers bring insights or experiences to a local congregation that they may not have experienced nor have awareness of regarding things/issues/conditions in the world in order to them involved and to inspire develop their spiritual develop[ment. Delivered
Q4. (1 Thessalonians 3:10-11; Romans 1:11) What is the value of visits of special speakers to a congregation? It was of the greatest "VALUE" to God that Timothy was obedient to his calling and he went and ministered his spiritual gifts to other believers, encouraging them to stand strong in their "FAITH." Paul knew the greatest "VALUE" to God is when we can be used of Him (Romans 1:11) tells us he longed to see them, so that he may exercise the spiritual gifts that were imparted to him, so that they would be encouraged and strengthen in their "FAITH" The "VALUE" lies in obedience to the calling of God. To be used of God is not just for the Pastor or Evangelist, but for us all, as we are called to encourage each other to stand strong in "FAITH" What can they impart that your regular pastor can't? They can impart, exercise what gifts God has given them to others. I am not sure if what they impart is something the pastor can't, however, we must remember, our pastors also need to be encouraged and strengthened and have a time of being refreshed. This might be more beneficial for the pastor as well as for the congregation, for as they the pastors are refreshed and strengthened; they are more able to carry on the work of the Lord. Commissioned
Q4. (1 Thessalonians 3:10-11; Romans 1:11) What is the value of visits of special speakers to a congregation? What can they impart that your regular pastor can’t? Why is a ministry of itinerant preaching so difficult – and important? Special speakers bring a fresh voice bring the same gospel message to a congregation. They can impart a different perspective on what he preaches based on his/her experiences. Ministry of itinerant preaching is so difficult – and important because as they minister and fellowship with the people they become emotionally attached and pretty soon they have to leave and travel to another place. hanks
Q4. (1 Thessalonians 3:10-11; Romans 1:11) What is the value of visits of special speakers to a congregation? What can they impart that your regular pastor can't? Why is a ministry of itinerant preaching so difficult - and important? From experience I have found that there is so much depth in the Word of God. Just when you think you fully understand a certain scripture, you later find out that there is so much more to those specific verses. So special speakers to a congregation can explain other insights to the Word that perhaps our regular pastor had not yet come across or had not yet had the opportunity to expand on. It is good to get an alternative view of the truth. As believers we need constant growth in our knowledge of God’s Word, this will enable us to apply doctrines we have learnt to our daily life, and equip our faith to meet any of life’s problems we may face. The ministry of itinerant preaching is difficult as the speaker does not know the maturity in God’s Word of their audience. It is, of course, important for reasons mentioned that other aspects of the Word are preached resulting in a more well-rounded faith. haar
1. The value of special speakers to a congregation is the impartation of encouragement and the strengthening of the believers in that congregation. 2. Such speakers can have a greater impact on the congregation than the local Pastors. The local church value what the visiting speakers say more and will thus be encouraged and strengthened in faith. JanMary
Q4. (1 Thessalonians 3:10-11; Romans 1:11) What is the value of visits of special speakers to a congregation? The first thing which came to mind is that it is a gift to the pastor...a break for Him/her, fellowship with one who shares the same role and it's joys and problems as well as encouragement. For the congregation, it's an opportunity to be enlarged...to be lifted out of the same little "pond" and to hear what is going on the "outside". Its easy for churches to become ingrown, and stagnant. The special speaker can breathe flesh life and perspective into minds perhaps closed to other than what concerns them. What can they impart that your regular pastor can’t? A visiting speaker can bring greetings from other places...a reminder that we are the body of Christ which exists all around the world, not just in our little corner. They may have fresh insight, having had different experiences from our pastor. They may get away with saying "a hard thing" since they are leaving, which the Pastor may have been reluctant to share...a correction, for example. Why is a ministry of itinerant preaching so difficult – and important? Unless an itinerant preacher has a home base, one may struggle financially and become discouraged and weary of the travel...always on the go. New faces at every gathering with no one knowing them, may cause them to feel lonely and alone. But they are important...apostles help to keep the body of Christ unified and identifying with one another on a larger scale, and they bring stories of triumph and victory in other places which encourage and enrich the local church. Lion of Grace
Q4. (1 Thessalonians 3:10-11; Romans 1:11) What is the value of visits of special speakers to a congregation? What can they impart that your regular pastor can’t? Why is a ministry of itinerant preaching so difficult – and important? Special speakers bring something new to the congregation. (Described as a "breath of fresh air" in this study) Most speakers come to share about ministry outside of the local church and in other areas of the world and it is very encouraging and inspiring to hear what God is doing in the world and how many are coming to faith. Sometimes it can be convicting if we have become lukewarm in how we minister in our own area. It's always good to hear and see and have a passion renewed in us. Our pastors have concerns for the local church and the local community. They are shepherding in their own way with the specific needs that need to be addressed where they are at. An itinerant preacher is bringing news from other areas and can impart what God is doing outside of our local areas. We get a refreshing bigger picture from those who are traveling. I think that the itinerant preachers benefit from our pastors too as they share about their ministry and they most certainly benefit from our prayers and financial help. I love that we can see the church as a whole in unity supporting and in fellowship with each other. It's an amazing day when we can communicate so easily from all over the world. And please remember to pray for those who can not share their plight with us because of persecution and restricted communication and travel! They have the greatest needs!!! Itinerant preaching is hard because of the travel. They are often going from place to place and are away from their families. I know the missionaries that I pray for are always asking for prayers for their families while they are away from them. I know too, they often have financial needs either for themselves or for their ministries and I know they aren't always met with generosity to support the vision of reaching others for Christ through specific means in other countries. I also know that often traveling missionaries run into all kinds of red tape while flying in and out of countries or in seeking visa's etc. to settle for a time into specific areas for ministry. They are at the least in much need of our prayers.
t-c
What is the value of visits of special speakers to a congregation? They often bring their testimony as to what God is doing on the mission field, in their country or their church. As God's messenger for such a time as this, they bring a message that maybe we've heard before; but this time it pierces our hearts because of God's perfect timing. What can they impart that your regular pastor can't? Their particular God given spiritual zeal and excitement about His word and what they see Him doing through faithful believers around the country and the world. Also a tough message that needs to be heard by all, that brings tremendous conviction, confession of sin and repentance. Fuels revival in the body of Christ. Why is a ministry of itinerant preaching so difficult -- and important? Because I think it is a true calling from God and relies upon complete dependance on Him. The wages and lodging are often dependent upon free will offerings. The itinerant preacher doesn't always know what to expect, or how he or the message he brings will be received by the congregation. It's important because of his calling; I believe that God through the Holy Spirit lets us know what He wants to do in His church; the message brought by an itinerant preacher can awaken in us and confirm what God has been telling us all along. Leading to confression, repentance, and one day soon I pray...revival!
Hazesyd23
Q: What is the value of visits of special speakers to a congregation? A: Special speakers bring a new and fresh perspective to the word of God. Many possess Spiritual Gifts not routinely manifested in some churches. Special speakers are also able to share what God is doing in other areas of the country, or, if they are missionaries, what God is doing in the area in which they serve. Q. What can they impart that your regular pastor cannot? A: Special speakers can impart a Spirit of encouragement, as Paul did to the Thessalionian church, which strenthens, edifies and exorts the church he or she is visiting. As stated in the study they bring "a breath of fresh air"to a congregation. They may also impart confirmation concerning a certain topic or issue that is being addressed in the church. Q: Why is a ministry of itinerant preaching so difficult and important? A: They have to travel a lot--family left behind and it's a sacrifice. They or may, or may not have a home church and therefore lack financial support. They have to depend on the good will of strangers for food and shelter. It is important because it displays their dependency on God for their daily existence, somewhat similar to the Prophets of old.
Marie Beukes
Q4. (1 Thessalonians 3:10-11; Romans 1:11) What is the value of visits of special speakers to a congregation? What can they impart that your regular pastor can’t? Why is a ministry of itinerant preaching so difficult – and important? Sometimes it brings an afresh way of ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the congregation, where a regular pastor tends to avoid change in the way of preaching. With the itinerant preaching they never really see the growth and progress of the local church.
Thanking Joan
Each person or Pastor has his or her unique and special gift. When we have Pastors visiting us, they impart to us new things make us strong and their faith encourages us. We are used to have our Pastors and visiting Pastors motivate us diffrently. Itinerant preaching is difficult beacuse it requires hardwork and travel and one has to encounter different hardships. Yet it is important because we need someone to go around and preach the Gospel. wjcargile
1. Special speakers can impart wisdom based on the Holy Spirit and what they have seen and experienced. 2. They can implant their personal experiences. 3. Itinerant preaching is difficult because of constantly moving from place to place. Most cases there is no follow-up as Paul desired for his churches. It is very important to share and spread God's word.
elizabeth kerr
Special speakers can bring many benefits to their listeners including encouragement, connections with the universal church, preaching about Scripture passages the local pastor has not yet preached on, and more, BUT we who are listening must always be like the Bereans in Acts and diligently search the Scriptures and evaluate the speaker's teaching to make sure it conforms to what the Bible says. Otherwise, we may be deceived and believe some false teaching.
Raph
Q4. (1 Thessalonians 3:10-11; Romans 1:11) What is the value of visits of special speakers to a congregation? The value of visits of special speakers to a congregation is to strengthen the spiritual faith of the members of the visited congregation. What can they impart that your regular pastor can't? I really do not think they can impart something that my regular pastor cannot, but having a visiting pastor who repeats what the regular pastor teaches, can strengthen the message and consequently the faith. Why is a ministry of itinerant preaching so difficult -- and important? The ministry of itinerant preaching is so difficult and important because it involves much travelling and at the same time might be faced with fierce opposition but is important as it helps to spread the word of God and to strengthen the faith of believers. antonate
Every christian in the Kingdom of God has a plan and purpose of God . Morever God has blessed each one with different gifts and abilities and altogether build the body of Chirst. A special speaker to the church can be of immense blessing sent by God to build the church and make that church grow strong and powerful through the gifting of the Holy spirit that he imparts to the church he visits. Through the teachings of the special speaker the whole church will be encouraged and cause the church to a rise up to a new level, increase their level of commitment to jesus and also welcoming an anointed servant of God into our church not only blesses us but also the special speaker. The visting speaker can be a great source of encouragement for the existing pastor to continue his ministry for Christ and grow to a higher level and serve God in a much better through prayer, support and spirit filled teachings of the visiting speaker that is being welcomed to the Church. itinerant preaching is not difficult if strength is derived by God through prayer for this ministry. It can be someitmes a call of God upon a person to do a ministry like this where one has to adopt to all conditions in the new place called to serve God's people. But God gives the strength and a special grace to do this ministry if we continually focus on Jesus and be led by His Spirit. in all hard conditions he blesses with immense grace to do his work-- that is make Jesus known as the only true and living God! Guitar Jim
Q4. (1 Thessalonians 3:10-11; Romans 1:11) What is the value of visits of special speakers to a congregation? There's an old saying that an expert is just someone from out of town . . . or a bigger town. The Holy Spirit empowers people in all different ways. Preaching, prophecy, healing, teaching, etc. The travelling speaker is usually someone gifted in an area of evangelism or prophecy, or a teacher with a special interest in a particular field such as spiritual warfare or revival. Such a person would struggle as a pastor of a church where more generalized teaching and pastoral gifts are necessary. Their mission is to go from church congregation to church congregation using the specialized talents supplied by the Holy Spirit. No offense intended to any pastor here, but sometimes a new different approach to something may get the point across where the local pastor just can't achieve a breakthrough. I remember many years ago a guest preacher spoke on Christian finances and giving and resources were unlocked as a result of God's use of that man to challenge the congregation in a way our own pastor couldn't. Let's face it . . . It's the hardest thing to preach about giving more in the collection plate when you have to face your audience every Sunday. Then we experienced a mini-revival as a result of another guest speaker whom God used to challenge us to get deeper into Him and trust Him more. What can they impart that your regular pastor can’t? A new perspective and a challenge in an area the regular pastor may not have expertise or sufficient experience. I think I partially answered this question in my previous answer above. Why is a ministry of itinerant preaching so difficult – and important? Speaking as a former itinerant lay preacher, I can say that I was away from my own church and missed out on some valuable fellowship with people I knew there. There'd be gaps in a series of sermons because I'd been off somewhere else doing my thing at another church. I was a powerlifting champion and well known as a Christian sportsperson and as such I often got calls to speak at churches and to incorporate a strongman act into my "show" for want of a better word. I'd lift a heavy barbell or bend a steel bar around my neck or whatever as an attention getter, then give my testimony, or speak out against recreational drugs and in favor of a healthy lifestyle, or talk about putting Christ first in my life despite being a dedicated competitor and lifting for Him and not for personal glory, or do some straight out preaching, whatever the church pastor wanted me to do. I was only doing that on a very part time basis. I didn't charge for my services; I considered that my service to God for my Salvation and the proper use of my talent and gifts. I can imagine how difficult it must be for someone who is a full time travelling preacher. When you're on the road all the time, who do you turn to for your own spiritual needs? Who's your pastor when you're in a different town every week? Then there's the problem of financing your ministry. Those are the difficulties. The importance of itinerant preaching is that you can spread your message around. I think I covered how important this ministry is in my above answers. Trusting God
Q4. (1 Thessalonians 3:10-11; Romans 1:11) What is the value of visits of special speakers to a congregation? The value of having special speakers visiting our congregation should be an encouragement to us, because it gives us an update of how God is ministering to them and how He is furthering the gospel to the world. What can they impart that your regular pastor can't? Through special speakers we can get an eye witness account of how God is working in their lives, and on their mission field better than regular pastor who can only impart what is related to them. Why is a ministry of itinerant preaching so difficult -- and important? The ministry of itinerant preaching is difficult, because they relies on the support of other people and churches. Their preaching is necessary, because they are ministering to people, communities, and the world. Areas that we are unable to go, yet all believers are serving together furthering the Gospel of Christ to all of the world. Acts 1:8 – “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
