Q2. White-Robed Martyrs

Pastor Ralph

Recommended Posts

The Fifth Seal: WE read >>> How long, O Lord, holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? http://' target="_blank">And white robes (the martyrs) were given to every one of them; and it was said unto them that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.--6:9-11

This Christ Testimony the word of God to his Church of yesterday and today There Souls are under the Alter because there have sacrificial blood, there are now impatient. But there must wait a little longer ( Rest) until Gods appointed time.

The fifth seal is the seal of persecution, and it evidently marks some notable era in the history of the Church,

Q2. (Revelation 6:9-11) What do we learn about the Church from what is revealed in the Fifth Seal? Where are these "souls" at the time of this scene? What does their proximity to the altar signify? Why were they killed? Why do they ask for vengeance? Is that a Christian prayer? What does the white robe represent? What do we learn from their instruction to "wait a little longer"?

The breaking of the fifth seal reveals Christian martyrs in an attitude of sacrifice as blood poured out at the foot of an altar begging God for vindication, which will come only when their quota is filled; but they are given a white robe symbolic of victory

Those who died due to their faithfulness in witnessing about Christ ask for vengeance, for they believed in God's Word, which says that vengeance is God's. To wait a little longer means being patient in waiting for the second coming of Christ. Halleluiah!

The fifth seal reveals the Christan martyrs. The souls are under the throne of God. There proximity to the alter means that as martyrs they are deeply loved by God. For the word of Christ. So that no more Christians will have to be martyrs for Christ. Yes it is a Christan prayer for vengeance are mine says the lord. The white robes mean that there sins have been cleansed and that the have victory over the second death. That everything has to be done in Gods perfect timing.

What does their proximity to the altar signify? They are in the presense of God.

They were killed for maintaing their testimony.

Why do they ask for vengeance? They pray for vindication and righteousness and the end of evil.

What does the white robe represent? Righteousness given them by God.What do we learn from their instruction to "wait a little longer"? For us in todays church to wait and be faithful a little longer the end is not here yet but we will recieve our heavenly home when the time comes.

Sue D. :) Q.2 What do we learn about the Church from what is revealed in the Fifth Seal ?

This is talking about those who had been slain for the Word of God and for their testimony which they held. In other words, those martyred. People have been willing to give their lives rather than forsake Christ all over the world. Once Christ comes back for the Church/ bride of Christ -- there will be those who accept Christ during the Tribulation period. Accepting Christ during That time will bring intense persecution and probable death.

The martyred saints would like to be with the rest of the saints, but are told to wait until All the martyred saints can be together.

The "souls" are with Jesus, as signified by their proximity to the alter. They were killed because they refused to renounce their Christianity. They want Justice (though even they may not understand what that might be). The white robe probably signifies purity and faithfulness. "Wait a linger longer" means that the end is some time in the future.

For the 5th seal, we will always. have martyrs, and have the opportunity to be one ourselves. We can martyr ourselves without getting killed to death, it can be in work, or in a relationship that involves suffering. We need to enjoy this pain gladly as it would bring us closer to our Savior,

As a Christian we have no right to ask for vengeance, rather to try to be like Christ and ask the Father to forgive them. Being human, we feel we have the right to ask for vengeance, which belongs to the Lord. So i ask the Lord to crush him until he is pulverized and has no ego left, I ask it for all the suffering he has put upon his x-wife and daughter, and I know I have to "wait a little longer." The white robe represents the purity of those who are really close to Him. and I pray for them to have courage and strength. In His precious name, Amen.

What do we learn about the Church from what is revealed in the Fifth Seal? Those who were killed because of their testimony of faith in God and Jesus which they had maintained to their final living moments.

Where are these "souls" at the time of this scene? They are being martyred for their faith.

What does their proximity to the altar signify? They are closeer to God than me since I'm not as brave as they were. God blessed everyone of them greatly.

Why were they killed? Why do they ask for vengeance? Is that a Christian prayer? Being human we can ask trhe Lord for vengance, but at the same time wee must see God and then try to forgive them "because they don't know what they are doing" as Jesus would say. We hold this in life and anything done "wrong" to us can't hurt our heart of love.

What does the white robe represent? Purity, the lamb was white, sinless, not like us.

What do we learn from their instruction to "wait a little longer"? We are told by Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the LORD, will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

"Soon will end in Joy" from Jars of Clay - God Will Lift up your head!

Prais the mighty one, our Kiong and Lord, Jesus the sinless sacrifice for our salvation. Hosanna!

The fifth seal revealed that the souls of those who had been slain for the Word of God were under the altar, in the presence of God. These wer killed because they upheld their testimony and in the face of great persecution they remain faithful and overcame the enemy, Satan, by the word of their testimony. It is for this testimony they were killed. They ask for vengeance because God tells us in His word that vengeance belong to Him. With that said, as Christians in spite of the hatred being levied against us we are to walk in obedience to Christ's command to love your enemy and do good to them who despitefully use you. The Christian prayer should include a plea for the salvation of all those who persecute the Church. The white robe represents purification, worn by the redeemed who have been washed in the blood of the Lamb.

Those who were martyred are under the altar. They are being taken care of by God. They were killed for maintaining their testimony and for their faithfulness. They want vengeance for the spilling of their righteous faithful blood. The white robe represents their purchase by Christ's blood. Others were going to be martyred, and at a later time God would avenge their deaths.

The church is to continue its faithful witness. We see the patience of God at work, the very same patience that was necessary for my salvation. These souls are in heaven. The proximity of the altar signifies our closeness to our Lord. They were killed because of their faith and for not renouncing our Lord Jesus. They ask for vengeance for they would like to see justice done. Yes, I believe it is a Christian prayer. God

We learn that, when the fifth seal is open, those who stay true to their witness to God and Christ, even denying themselves their own lives, God will welcome them into His presence. These souls are next to the alter of the living God. They long for the day that Jesus will reign and restore order to our chaotic world. They are told to wait so those that are numbered with them, will arrive before the end comes.

This tells me that there will yet be believers - true believers - during this time of tribulation. Believers that are faithful to Christ, believer that have a testimony that they are willing to give their lives to proclaim. These saints are found at the altar, in the presence of God, believers that are slain, martyred, because of their testimony.

I think that these saints were praying for are seeking vindication more than they were seeking revenge - so I feel that their were praying Christ-like prayers - and for this reason could and would wait as long as God purpose for His intent and plan to be realized. .

Rev 6:9- And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held.

Answer:

1.What do we learn about the Church from what is revealed in the Fifth Seal?

The Church,is being persecuted, maligned, killed,or murdered for their Faith, and allegiance to the Word of God.

2.Where are these "souls" at the time of this scene? What does their proximity to the altar signify?

I believe that the people are in the Church,at the time of the scene, probably being chased, burned or ridiculed.Others might be in the field, obeying the great Commision to preach among the nations.Where ever they are, they are doing something for the Glory of God.The Altar signify, presence of the Lord,a place where sacrifices are offered in the Old Testament. It is in the Altar that, the people call His name, where the Lord appeared, and speak to His people(Genesis 13:4 -Unto the place of the altar, which he had make there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.)

. Altar signify also the Faithfulness of the Lord, regarding His Promises and Covenant(Genesis 35:3-And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went. )The proximity of Altar, being above the slain..(Rev 6:9- And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain

Why were they killed? Why do they ask for vengeance? Is that a Christian prayer? What does the white robe represent? What do we learn from their instruction to "wait a little longer"?

The "FIFTH SEAL," is actually the "Sacrificial Altar," or the "Burnt Offering Altar." The church or the "SOULS" of them that were slain for the "Word of God" and for the "testimony they held." were underneath the Sacrificial Altar. The fact that their "SOULS" were under the "Sacrificial Altar" is proof that they had been offered as a "Sacrifice," that is that they were MARTYRS. But they were not the Martyrs of the Christian Church, for they had been resurrected and taken up with the Church. These Martyrs' are those who will be killed for the "Word of God" and their "testimony" after the Church is caught out. We have a lot more to learn about the Church and their roles in the end times.

That which the martyrs plead for, was the judgment of the power persecuting them. And it was to come when "their fellow-servants also, and their brethren that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled." When we come to 1798, this was fulfilled and judgment begun on the Papacy which is to be carried out in consuming and destroying that power unto the end. (This is a whole new study)

To these martyred "SOULS" white robes were given. This does not mean that they were resurrected, that is, given glorified BODIES, and then robed, but that they in their "Soulish" or "PSYCHICAL" bodies were given white robes, for while the "Spirit" of man loses its earthly, or FLESHY body, at death, it still has a body, its SOULISH body, that can see, hear, speak, etc., for how could a SOUL "cry" if it did not have a form and physical senses. For a full exposition of this see the Book on "Dispensational Truth," the Chapter on the "Spirit World."

These martyred SOULS were comforted, and told that they should rest for a "little season," about 3

What do we learn about the church as Christ opens the fifth seal? That God's people are under persecution and martyrdom because of the word of God and the testimony they maintain. (Not to be confused with others under God's wrath)

We learn also, more are to be killed. The number of martyrs is not completed.

The souls of those slain are under an altar. Their proximity to the altar signifies that the death of the martyrs are likened to holy sacrifices. They were killed because of the word of God and their testimony they had maintained. They ask for vengeance for the blood they shed and on those who are the inhabitants of the earth who murdered them.

Is that a Christian prayer? Yes. I believe to call out for vengeance from God is OK, but it is GOD'S vengeance....not our own. We don't take it into our own hands but we can certainly cry out to our Father and let Him do what is right. It's more of a cry for JUSTICE for our cause and only God is just, so we leave it to Him. These kinds of prayers are found other places in the Bible....for one by David against his enemies.

The white robes represent those who have not soiled their clothes, those that are worthy. Those who overcome. Who belong to the Lamb. Who have washed their clothes in the blood of the Lamb. (Salvation)

We learn from the instruction to "Wait a little longer" that the full number of fellow servants and brothers who are to be killed is not completed. I also believe it is in reference to the souls crying out for vengeance. Everything is to be done in God's timing. He will provide justice, yet the time will be of God's choosing. We need to remember that also when we suffer and ask for God to intervene.

God.The white rode represent holiness and rightousness. We learn that more christain is going to loss they lives because of their believes in God.

We learn that Christians were persecuted and killed because of their faith in Christ. These souls were under the altar of God in heaven. Not only the souls that was persecuted and killed for Christ name sake, those who were martyrs also because of their belief in Christ. These are the ones left behind at the rapture of the church, accepted Christ during the tribulation and were killed by the antichrist or martyred. They prayed to Christ to take vengeance upon the antichrist for their lost of life. The white robes signify that these souls kept their faith in Christ no matter what the cost and now that can rest within worry. We must also stand firm in our belief in Christ even if we have die for Christ name sake.

Under the altar were the souls of those hwo had been slain because their testimony of God never waivered.  We know that if we stay strong in Christ, hold fast to our faith, our reward will come.  The altar is significant because their lifeblood had been poured out as an offering to God.  This is the same as the Jewish sacrifces and the blood flowing beneath the altar. The altar is located in the front of the temple.  The martyers are asking God to bring justice to them in their sacrifice.  God is telling them that those who suffered and died will not be forgotton.  They will be signaled out of a special honor.  We must be patient.  The white robe to me means aged, wisdom and honor of those gone before for their faith.

We learn what Jesus foretold in Matt. 24:9 is has happened:  "Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed.  You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers." (NLT)

The Fitth Seal reveals the marytrs of the tribulation.  Their souls are under the altar representing their sacrifice in maintaining their witness and testimony for Jesus Christ.  They are asking God to avenge their blood because they are seeking justice for the wrong done to them.

Yes, it is a Christian prayer.  God is a just God.  An aspect of His Holy character is justice. Judgment is justice.  The Psalmist opens Psalms 94 by praying: " O Lord, the God who avenges, O God who avenges, shine forth, Rise up, O Judge of the earth; pay back to the pround what they deserve.  How long will the wicked, O Lord, how long will the wicked be jubilant? ... He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the Lord our God will destroy them."  Ps. 1-3 and 23.  Read all of Psalm 94.

In fact God's says vengenance is mine.  Seeking justice is very Christian.  Christians must forgive those who persecute and even kill them, but that doesn't excuse any person from the consequences of their sin.  Justice is mentioned over 200 times in the Bible.

The white robes are given to the martyrs, a symbol of their righteousness.

They are instructed to "wait a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and brothers who were to be killed as they hand been was completed."  verse 11.  When things are complete God will judge and avenge their blood.

First, I'm glad there are a lot of good answers here before mine. ".....the souls that had been slain....." I wonder if this really is talking about a physical death or if it's talking about a "death to the world" as we give up our lives to Christ Jesus. One thing we know is we are covered with rightousness and become "new creations" through Christ Jesus. Let's say for those of us who are still in the world......our Spirits cry out in agony, "How much longer Lord until you make things right here?" What prayer could be more just? Vengeance against Evil......sometimes we want to take this vengeance in our own hands but we are to pray and leave it to Christ. We serve to point the way not to try to wipe out all evil from the earth since we as human beings cannot do this. We can be faithful even as far as physical death as so many have done and will continue to do. We grow tired of seeing such things as abortion and so many sins running wildly throughout our world. For sure, there have been many Christian martyrs and there will be more. However, I see this verse not only addressed to them but to ALL flesh that will choose the "death of Christ" and then be clothed "anew". The instruction to "wait a little longer" reminds me that "all things according to their appointed time...." When God says "it is time" then it is time. Can we by our own desire bring someone into this world? Can we even give ourselves the breath we breathe? God is all powerful and knows the time....we must continue on our Journey until we are called home and strive to be a faithful servant.

Many will be killed for their belief in Christ. The souls of the faithful were found under the alter. It really tells me that they were given a place of honor once they died. If we compare this to the time of Moses, they were in the Holiest of Holy place. Only those priests that were considered clean were allowed to enter. They were killed because of the ways that they were a witness for Christ. They willingly gave up their lives for their beliefs. They want to see the death of those that murdered them. They want to know that their death was not for nothing. They want to know that Jesus would fulfil the promise that He stated. Vengence is mine said the Lord. It is not a Christian prayer, it is just a request for the fulfillment of a promise that they feel that they died for. The white robe represents purity. We are basically told that Christ has His own time frame for everythng. We learn that even in heaven we must be patient.
