Q1. Order of Events

Recommended Posts

  • 2 months later...

The Thessalonians were shaken, terrified and confused that they have missed the rapture because some mischiievious fellows spread the false report that the coming of the Lord had already taken place.

Paul however assured them that the rapture had not yet taken place. That before the rapture, the lawless one would appear first to confuse and mislead people to lure them away from the Lord. Then the Lord will come to gather his people to heaven and the wicked ones to eternal damnation.

Q1. (1 Thessalonians 2:1-3) In what way were the Thessalonians confused? What is the order of Christ’s coming in relation to the revealing of the Antichrist?

They have been told that the Day of the Lord had already come. Paul tells them they are misinformed and to settle down. The Second Coming of Christ/Day of the Lord will follow the rise and fall of the Man of Lawlessness or Anti-Christ.

Q1. (2 Thessalonians 2:1-3)

In what way were the Thessalonians confused?

What is the order of Christ's coming in relation to the revealing of the Antichrist?

The Thessalonians were concerned that the Rapture had not come quickly enough since some of their friends had died before it had taken place. To add to the confusion some false teachers told them that the day of the Lord had already come. Paul told them not to be deceived and goes on to explain the order of future events. First the Rapture will occur and then two things will precede the Day of the Lord. A certain event must take place - the Tribulation, a great revolt and the final rebellion against God. A certain person must appear. This person Paul calls “the man of lawlessness” – the Antichrist.

Q1. (1 Thessalonians 2:1-3) In what way were the Thessalonians confused? What is the order of Christ's coming in relation to the revealing of the Antichrist

Apparently someone spread a falsehood that the rapture had already happened. It must have left them in a terrible state of confusion and fear.

The Antichrist comes on the scene before the coming of our Lord.

Since there are differing opinions of when the rapture happens I will offer mine.

1 the rapture happens

2 the antichrist is revealed

3 our Lord and Savior, Jesus, comes back.

Maranatha!

God Bless!

The Thessolonians were confused because there was already a letter or a report that had come to them saying the Day of the Lord has already come .

The Day of the Lord's coming will not come until the rebellion occurs, the man of lawlessness or the Antichrist is revealed who is doomed to destruction and will oppose and exalt himself over everything that is called God he will set himself in God's temple and proclaim himself to be God .. Then he will be doomed to destruction and the Lord will come in his glory with all the angels.

Q1. (1 Thessalonians 2:1-3) In what way were the Thessalonians confused?

Because of false teachings the Thessalonians were confused about the coming of the Messiah, confusion that could soon shake them in their mind and spirit, troubling them that He had already come and that tribulation has come their way.

Where there is CONFUSION, there is the spirit of the ANTI-CHRIST, Saul therefore commended them on their FAITH and LOVE one for another, clearing up the confusion about the tribulation that they were enduring,

Saul did not want the spirit of confusion to hinder their HOPE as he brought truth to them about the GREAT APOSTASY that has not yet come, but one day will, this is why we must walk worthy of His coming, so that the name of the Lord Jesus would be glorified in our lives.

What is the order of Christ's coming in relation to the revealing of the Antichrist?

Believers must be on the watch that they not be DECEIVED, for the day will come when the world will see a great FALLING away, defection from the truth, APOSTASY that would reveal the man of sin.

Q1. (1 Thessalonians 2:1-3) In what way were the Thessalonians confused? What is the order of Christ’s coming in relation to the revealing of the Antichrist?

The Thessalonians were confused because they had received a "false" letter supposedly from Paul that stated that Christ had already come back and they had somehow missed it. They were confused and shaken and had not remembered what Paul had taught on the subject of Christ's coming. (vs 5)

Paul admonishes, "Let no one deceive you by any means; for that day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of perdition."

The anti-Christ will be revealed before the second coming of Christ.

They were confused, thinking that the Lord had already returned & they were still there!

First comes the rebellion, then the antichrist is revealed, then the Lord returns.

In what way were the Thessalonians confused?

Some "Christians" had brought a report, "from Paul" that Jesus had already returned and that the Thessalonian Christians had missed it.

What is the order of Christ's coming is relation to the revealing of the Antichrist?

First comes the rebellion, then the "man of lawlessness" (NOT ANTICHRIST) is revealed, then Christ returns.

The Antichrist will appear first. Part of Christ's second coming will be the defeat and destruction of the Antichrist.

Q1. (1 Thessalonians 2:1-3) In what way were the Thessalonians confused?

The Thessalonians were confused because they thought that the Day of the Lord and Christ had already come. They were deceived by false teachers, and did not understand that the Antichrist had to come first, before Christ comes back to earth.

The order of Christ’s coming in relation to the revealing of the Antichrist is that the Antichrist, the man of lawlessness, will cause a rebellion against God, and will be revealed before Christ returns.

The Thessalonians were confused because supposedly someone had brought a message, claiming it was from Paul, stating that Christ had already returned and they had missed the Rapture.

The order of Christ's coming in relation to the revealing of the Antichrist is, He will only return after the Antichrist makes his appearance.

Q1. (2 Thessalonians 2:1-3) In what way were the Thessalonians confused? What is the order of Christ’s coming in relation to the revealing of the Antichrist?

They were confused because someone sent them a letter saying the day had already come. They thought they missed it and believed this rumor. Paul set them straight on the order of events to happen first. First the Antichrist must take the place allowed to him and then Christ will return.

Q1. (2 Thessalonians 2:1-3) In what way were the Thessalonians confused? What is the order of Christ’s coming in relation to the revealing of the Antichrist?

Thee Thessalonians were confused about the Lord's second coming. Paul had spoke of this to them during his three week stay in Thessalociia (from which he was forced to leave[in a basket] and was not allowed to return).  In 1 Thessalonians he addressed this problem but it apparently still was un clear to them.  It seems as if some interloper had either written to them or spoken to them with advice that was in conflict with Paul's teaching. So Paul fires of this letter, 2 Thessalonians, to them trying to straighten out the damage done. It is sort of damage control as Paul is unable to return.

Paul writes that "the day will not come " until rebellion takes place. A man of lawless most come who will deceive the world for a time and than the Lord will come in His glory. There are many aspects to the day of the Lord  and there is a sense here that Christians are even now living in the end times. The decisive victory has been won. Now there is a moping up. We must look to our plowshares and as we sing the glorious hymns of our lord plow the fertile fields that will produce abundantly-a hundred fold.

The Thessalonians feared that they had missed the second coming of Christ. They feared that those people that were true believers of Christ were already taken up to heaven. The truth is the antichrist is going to come and rule the earth for a period of time before Christ comes back to defeats him for good.
